Careful here, it's also a great way to do a nice head down into a front flip if your not careful. De-arch (i.e. flatten out), cup your shoulders, hands at side, extend your legs, point your toes and go. Keep your head on a swivel, even while tracking. Get a coach to film it, then make a body adjustment to it from there. Same thing with the landings, get them on film if you can. You can learn a lot by watching film of it.

Why are you afraid?
-
LOL, you guys are to funny!!

I have heard that some of the flocks fly out over the sea and finish them with beach landings. Neither of which have I done and I'd love to it at least once or twice.
-
Thanks Scott, I had read through that thread and was as confused as ever. Sounds like the horse callar like you posted here is exactly what I'm looking for. Any idea where the best prices on them are? Is that covered in your book too?

I did, that's how I came up with the link that I did, and that's how come I came back in here to post because wearing something like that one around my waist scares the shit out of me... I'll keep looking...
-
Damn, less than 10 minutes. I had a little private bet with myself that somebody would post something like this. I was thinking 15-20 though.

Hey all you highly experienced and highly knowledgeable fellow WS pilots. (Note, that I'm not really either of those yet, hence the reason for this post.) What do you guys recommend. I've found many posts to something like this here on dizzy.com but for some reason the thought of that around my waist leads me to thinking that it would not do much good if I had to use it. My arm wings could still fill with water and put my head under... no? So my question is, what do ya'all recommend? Thanks, Bill K. ~a.k.a.~ one of those fat Americans that floats like a brick...

And to think at one point I just wanted to be 'a' number on the list. BK
-
I see that I've been removed from the list. Am I not allowed to come and play too? 17) Bill K. - Please can I come play too?!?
-
That is pretty good. I know something happened, but hell if I want to hear about it. Hehe
-
Did one riser hang during the cutaway? Or was that just that 'right' timing to catch it?
-
I pack for others time to time. They put their trust in my hand. If you don't trust a packer than don't use it. Do not forget they allow you to rest or take that load which you could not make by yourself. Well said. I trust my packer and he does care about my openings, but he's been packing for me long enough and on the same gear now that it's pretty well worked out. Heck he even knows when I'm wing suiting and packs my pilot differently. I do try to tip well.

I meant because we are up to 18 already ... honest ! LOL, I know, I was just making fun of myself.

Zoomie would be an understatement I had no issues flying where I wanted to go the first 20 jumps or so. Just looking where I wanted to go, and voila..nice turns.. Then I started thinking about my steering inputs, and suddenly found myself flying the complete opposite direction of where I wanted to go with every move I made. This lasted a few jumps, and then it sorta clicked and the directional spasms disapeared. Those got replaced by wing-flapping, leg kicking, overly de-arching and other spastic bad habits over time luckely Interesting to see others post about the challenges they've had. I am still having some of these from time to time. Some jumps are better than others... all part of the learning curve I guess.

Of course... he's THE DON!!!

Ya, there was not really any yelling on my part. Just a heads up. I could not go back and edit that though.

Our tandem instructors keep the student with them and then ask them to help him carry the gear back in. Works great and they feel like they are part of the action. Also works great for their friends and family to take pictures. Those good action shots. We also have ropes and nobody is allowed past those unless your staff or an up jumper out helping to shag tandems. Period. Once in a while people get out there, but for the most part it works very well and everybody respects that system.

Yes I agree and I pointed that out in the first post too. My mistake was choosing to land in/around the middle of that mess and I fixed it on later jumps!! And most of the time I land out or further away. I think the video shows it was not super close here either...
-
Ok here ya go. You can see how bad it wasn't!! The pattern was left hand and we were landing hanger on the right but flying it off set corner to corner. The wind socks are up top center when I'm on final and in the right center while on final over close to the hanger, but still in the grass. There is some crab on final because the winds were a little funky. I was nice about it on the ground too.
