I hope that Matt does not mind, but I just had to post this link.

-
Matt, What kind of camera are you using and lens too? These are as always, awesome!! BK
-
LOL, was wondering when that one would make it's way to the net.
-
LOL, thanks Justin, I had a LOT of fun!! I am already looking forward to next year and just the next WS boogie that I can sneak away to in general. The fly by pic's are awesome!!

Here is a picture I took over the PR boogie yesterday. We were transitioning from head down to a sit. Had the camera in sports mode, still playing with it. Stock lens and was not taped so it zoomed in a little bit. One of those unique moments in time...

Jumpable windy? I.e. gusty or steady? -
Well I for one would like to recall that petition!!! I learn a LOT from your geek speak sir! Somebody should be smacked up side their head for putting forward such a petition. They don't like it, just don't damn read it. ====================== Edit to add, seems I should have kept reading before responding. I'm not the only one with that reaction.

Yes and no. The get-home-itis caused a judgment call that early in his career caused him to have to fall back on using the 180. So while he should be praised for what he did right, he also, understandably should have been talked to for a poor judgment call to start with. How many skydiving incidents start with a poor judgment call? Anyway, great post, great thread. Not sure if I'm one of the choir, but I hope to stay around long enough to someday be considered one of church members at least.

I have a hacky and a free fly tab. When I'm doing WS jumps I pack the pilot chute different and put the tab on the bottom of the container still in the pouch but not engaged like it is when I'm free flying. Now it's much easier to pull even after a long flight. Kind of hard to explain, but I could take a picture if somebody is interested. I learned it from my WS-I. Thanks again Scott. =) BK

Bummer. Maybe later in the year somewhere else then.

I will second that your article in this months Parachutist is great! I very much enjoy reading your writings. You are still going to be down in PR for a few days right? I really do want to meet you in person finally.

While that is a constitutional issue, the real issue is who Billy Boy is taking moneys from. That's a major ethical question that our government seems to just turn a blind eye to. Mostly because they are all on the take, both side of the isle. IMO though, that's the real reason she should be dumped on her rear. However if our law makers had done the right thing, they would have never confirmed her in the first place!!

Ah, now the light comes on. Thanks much. I have a dog that will make a great practice subject. When shooting motion things like swoopers or other items that you follow, do you do it freehand or using something like a monopod? My reason for asking is that when I try doing this by hand I end up bluring the subject that I'm shooting quite often.

Thank you for taking time to post this. I'm very new to all this DSLR stuff and am learning a LOT. I carry my camera with me everywhere these days, taking pictures of just about everything. I'm taking a class online and am reading lots and lots. The other thing that I'm doing is asking lots of questions. To that end, when you talk about panning with a passing subject, your saying that you slow the shutter speed down to blur the background? Would not a faster shutter speed and changing the F stop do the same. I.e. opening up the F stop from say f11 to f5.6, but leaving the shutter speed at the same point? I may have that backwards? I.e. leave the shutter speed the same, but change the f stop from 5.6 to 11? Again, threads like this are great for guys like me. The more I learn the more helpful they are.
