So will a Serta or a Simmons fly better? Or maybe a Sealy? Pillow top or not? These are all things that should be tested, no?

Can we throw a 'real' mattress out of a plane and see how it flies? I keep seeing all these references to flying mattress's so now I want to see a real one fly. Maybe there are some aerodynamic lessons to be learned from it too.

Is it lame to match your canopy to your container?

In the US the USPA recommends 200 with in the 18 months prior to the first WS jump. Not just 200 with an instructor, OR 500 jumps total if doing it without an instructor. a. have a minimum of 500 freefall skydives; or a minimum of 200 freefall skydives, made within the past 18 months, and receive one-on-one instruction from an experienced wing suit jumper

Thanks to work, I won't be. I wish that I could be! Please post some pictures and video. -
Tony responded to my question about this up thread with this:

I guess, but there are refinements to be made. It's like saying there are no new cars. But they change up the body design, add a feature here or there and call it a 'new' car. Sorry, being too serious I guess. I hope that all of the manufacturers keep coming up with new to them designs and refining things. Keeps things lively.

page one of this thread has a bunch of pictures both on the ground and also being flown.

Havent got it on the website yet, cost will be $1099 and it IS released, I have 2 orders already :-) its the Thunderbird till further notice :-) Where does this suit fit with regards to suits like the Raptor and Intro? In regards to progression paths to more advanced suits etc.

not just less... waaaay less. first time I flew it, when I went to pull, I overdid the arm movement (just used to the usual strength I use) that my hand was almost going to the other side of my container :), it was pretty funny. How about flocking with it? Lots of speed, range in fall rates? Looks a lot easier at pull tome. Is the leg wing about the same size as the Raptor?
-
Is there any more info on Tony's site about it? Cost, time to release, etc. Does this design make arm fatigue less?

This is not about getting allong or picking fights. Its just about learning from mistakes made in the past, and not twisting and turning facts just to be able to keep a spotless record. Don't want to get in the middle of a pissing contest. I think we all make mistakes though and we all learn what worked well and what did not work so well. At least I hope we do! I don't think any of us have spotless records. Just seems to me like there is a lot more of this my dick is bigger than yours type of thing lately. At least from where I sit watching anyway...

Geez... can't we all just get along? Personally, I did my first gainer exit at Skyfest last year and loved it. Just stepped off, arm wings closed, leg wing open, wala around and fly. AWESOME!! Can't wait until I can do some more of them.

really beautiful? a wonderfully designed very functional camera helmet/mount i'm right there with ya. but attractive it ain't. please post a pic of you wearing said helmet. imho it makes anyone look like a teletubbie Beauty is in the mind's eye. If you think beauty is what makes you look cool when you look in the mirror, then that's your gig. Others see beauty when artistic skill and craftsmanship combine to create said very functional and wonderfully designed camera helmet. I think it looks great. +1

Would you jump this? Look at the pictures, then answer.
Bill_K replied to Bill_K's topic in Gear and Rigging
So would you have jumped this Gary? Oh wait, I know the answer to that. Thanks again for the help changing these out and the work you did on the loaner set of risers to get those ready. You rock!! I do my inspections, but I fear that I need a reminder on what the actual maintenance is (though I think that I may be doing it). Do you mind giving me at the very least a reminder? Oh and the manufacturer in this case did work with me and gave me fair discount on the replacement. They were really, really great to work with!! -

Bill_K replied to Bill_K's topic in Gear and Rigging
The pictures don't show it real well, but there is an actual nick in the white loop. If it were just fraying I'd have kept jumping it and just gotten a new set on order. I do believe that it's caused by a burr or rough spot on the underside against the bearing where they are pressed together that caused it. -

Bill_K replied to Bill_K's topic in Gear and Rigging
Risers are about 3 years old. Damage was found on Sunday. They have 308 jumps on them per my log book. This is why it's important to do good gear checks!! My choice was to ground them and get a new set. I ended up borrowing a set from a friend so that I could keep jumping until my new set arrives. On that note Mirage rocks! They have taken good care of me with this whole thing. Gus and Jen are the bomb. -
To my inexperienced eye the refinements look like a lot of progress. I'm sure your dead on the mark about the number of people traveling and doing it together more and more. Easier said than done for some of us. I wish it were as easy as just sucking it up and doing it...
