Most jumpers that (think they) want a stiletto are wannabe swoopers. For that purpose, the stiletto pretty much sucks and there are way better options for that these days (sabre 2 for instance). A stiletto is fun to fly though, if you don't wingsuit and don't swoop, why not get one? ciel bleu, Saskia

No, that's a ripcord rig (we use these to transition SL students to freefall before they are allowed to jump BOC). ciel bleu, Saskia

Over here, we need to use the student version of an AAD if it has one, for the first 25 jumps. I saw a 4rd jump SL student do consecutive stall turns on a manta once, down to 30m We were kinda waiting for the AAD to fire... Which it luckily didn't. He also straightened out just in time for a flare. Turns out he had some paraglider experience... Didn't think the "don't turn below 250 ft" rule applied to HIM, and turned white at the mention of the AAD. ciel bleu, Saskia

We put out the occasional 100 lbs girl on 290 skymasters if the 230 rigs are being jumped by someone else, or for the ripcord jumps. They manage just fine

Does anyone have any info on a Sony DCR-SX63
dragon2 replied to Trixstr528's topic in Photography and Video
I don't think that camera has a filter thread, so no wide angle option. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Typically you only switch canopies around for a very good reason, like not wanting to use a swoop canopy for wingsuiting or CRW. If you're not comfy with your 170 in any and all conditions, stick with the 190 until you are. Don't try to switch canopies around this early in your skydiving career, you will not nearly learn as much as you would sticking to one canopy for a good while. ciel bleu, Saskia

Like normal. I didn't let it develop much speed though, chopped it after the canopies were at the horizon. ciel bleu, Saskia

I would really like that feature too. ciel bleu, Saskia

I am comfortable exiting at... (non-emergency)

Nothing reasonably about a spinning Diablo ciel bleu, Saskia -
I had the same error code once, reinserting the same memorystick didn't work, but when I switched the cards between my 2 cameras they both worked fine, and still work to this day. YMMV ciel bleu, Saskia

Nah, of course a 149 sqft canopy isn't high performance, everyone's just saying that... also the various canopy control gurus that say differently and the various countries where you simply wouldn't be allowed to jump smaller than a 150 for your first 400 jumps or so are overly cautious ciel bleu, Saskia

only reason i ask is because this one rigger was basically devalueing my canopy because it was from spain. and said there not as good. kinda pissed me off. I know for a fact that the Spanish safire 1s flare better than the other safire 1s. I'll jump a spanish safire anyday, and yeah, Cimsa is pretty good. ciel bleu, Saskia

Ditto. I've owned a safire 135 and a safire 119 and I got a couple days jumping in on a a safire 2 119, at wingloads of 1.1-1.7. Could land any of these just fine in any condition (ok, except for the one time I landed my safire 119 wearing 8kg of lead going BACKWARDS into brambles and stuff ) ciel bleu, Saskia

In a non-emergency, lowest altitude here you are allowed out is 2.5k, so of course I never got out any lower ciel bleu, Saskia -
That's a very good point. Where can I find weight limits for these canopies? The manufacturer's website do not have them. You do not want to load any F111 main over 1:0, and preferably you want to be at .8 or so. ciel bleu, Saskia

Did you do an AFF style jump (2 instructors holding on to you at both your sides, you having your own canopy and being alone under canopy) or a tandem type jump (you + instructor sharing one canopy)? There are dropzones that combine tandem jumps for the first or more jumps followed by "real" AFF jumps, making them "working tandems" as opposed to just a ride. A typical FJC for either a (real) AFF jump or a staticline jump is 6-12 hours, yes. ciel bleu, Saskia

Since at 195 lbs bodyweight you'd be loading the main at it's limit if not over, I wouldn't. ciel bleu, Saskia

Royalty-Free Music for videos .. help pls
dragon2 replied to Swoopper's topic in Photography and Video
I made a deal with a local musician: I can use his dance/techno type tracks for skydiving videos, as long as I credit him. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Either stand on a scale all geared up or use ~25 lbs for a rig+gear. ciel bleu, Saskia

Forget the budget i3 unless you are in noooooo hurry when editing and rendering. i5 is ok though, but make sure it's a quadcore model not a dualcore (i5-750 or i5-750S is good). ciel bleu, Saskia
