To help you choose, some good intermediate canopies are: pilot, fusion, triathlon, spectre, storm, pulse, silhouette, sabre 2, sabre 1 (older design, should be cheap, will open harder usually than the others), safire 1 or 2 (take note that a safire 1 is 1 size smaller than advertised). Tip for browsing the classifieds: people can't spell so don't forget to look for triathalons, specters, sabers, saphires. And whatever alternative spelling you can come up with for silhouette ciel bleu, Saskia

A fusion is comparable to a sabre 2. It can make a good intermediate canopy, but it's a bit more high performance than most (it's more HP than a spectre for sure). Wingloading isn't everything: if the canopy is 190 sqft it's a much better idea than if it's 150 sqft (smaller is a BAD idea in any case). Also, what have you been jumping up to now is very important. Ask your own instructor if he thinks it's a good canopy for you. ciel bleu, Saskia

This is what I was thinking for her. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/680711-REG/Canon_EOS_7D_SLR_Digital.html LOL yeah, that would make a nice gift, slightly over budget though ciel bleu, Saskia

That would be one of the cheap (and IMO fairly useless) lenses yeah... I wouldn't, unless you also change the camera body to a Nikon I'm not exactly sure what the lens to get for Canon is (within budget), the Canon EF 70-300mm 4.0-5.6 IS USM is the cheapest lens I would consider, it should come close to the Nikon 70-300 VR AF-S (with Nikon's AF-S = Canon's USM, and Nikon's VR = Canon's IS). But I'm sure some Canon users here will chime in on that. ciel bleu, Saskia

If you want shots like that, remember that the lens is (way) more important than the camera. Any nikon or canon DSLR will do, just get a good lens. For nikon, for this purpose and budget, that would be the 70-300 AF-S VR lens. Regardless of brand, don't get any of the cheap 70-300 (or similar) lenses, those will disappoint you. ciel bleu, Saskia

I got a better progression, since videoing tandems is NOT the way to learn to fly video: 1. make damn sure you can fly on your belly well, be anywhere you want to be, etc. Please forget freeflying. 2. get a suit with wings + camera helmet and video all the FS 2-ways, FS4 teams you can, for at least 100-200 jumps, until you can confidently film a couple good FS4 videos in a row (ie keep heading, film fairly close, at a good angle, from exit till separation) without screwing anything up. somewhere along, when you're good enough (or a team really needs video) you can expect to get your jumps paid for

Looks an awful lot like my own Atom (PdF) Same blue color parapack, same type cheststrap, reversed risers. Yup, Atom. ciel bleu, Saskia

I'm stuffing a vengeance 135 in mine again atm, you're welcome to try a velo 103... I have a smart 120 though. ciel bleu, Saskia

CRW jumpers most often don't jump a "solid" slider, but rather a spider or a slider with mesh. But are you sure it's the freefall version of the triathlon? Or maybe the hybrid? Has it got rings on the topskin? For the exact slider measurements, best ask Aerodyne, they should know ciel bleu, Saskia

It's an old one, but still good

Some handles were made of plastic and some were made of nylon. There is a difference. I seem to remember that the plastic ones were recalled; they were/are white in color. It had to do with brittleness at low temps. JerryBaumchen Not totally abandoned: we use a buch of those in our training belts for FJ student groups ciel bleu, Saskia

Um, "Offered for US$ 250.00" I'm sure you can find a skydiver somewhere where you can get it for a bit less ciel bleu, Saskia

The funeral will be held this saturday, more details here. ciel bleu, Saskia

Which should be BEFORE EVERY JUMP. Your AAD can suddenly show an error, a blank screen, the wrong mode, wrong alti, or be turned off. If you continue to jump a rig throughout the day after just checking it ONCE, you´re asking for bad stuff to happen to you ciel bleu, Saskia

The nicest, friendliest, craziest skydiver of Teuge. You will be sorely missed. ciel bleu, Saskia

That was a ref to the lazy bag actually ciel bleu, Saskia

There have been a few threads about the various kinds of stowless dbags a few months ago if I remember correctly. I'm just too lazy (pun intended) to go find them But there you should get all the info you need. ciel bleu, Saskia

Quick answer: no. Question though, why would you even want that? You cannot even get yourself in frame that way, and filming just (shaky) air makes no sense at all. If you want good quality video (and/or stills), get "real" video of your jump, you won't regret it. ciel bleu, Saskia

A Storm really will not fly well with lightnings. I flew my hybrid tri 120 with lightnings a couple times for casual crew, no problems. It will also fly well with spectres and regular tri's. I jumped the retractable bridle fulltime too, why not. ciel bleu, Saskia

Sigh. Ask any pro-swooper then, if you don't believe me. Sabre 2: quite long recovery arc, semi-ellip. Designed for intermediate to advanced jumpers, part of the PD swoop path: sabre 2 -> katana -> velocity. Stiletto: very SHORT recovery arc, making it dangerous for swooping, designed for advanced skydivers because of its roll and turn rate. NOT part of any sensible path to becoming a good (safe) swooper. Going from a stiletto to a katana isn't advised, let alone to a velo. But what do I know I'm sure with 125 jumps you know much better. ciel bleu, Saskia

A Sabre 2 is in no way close to the caliber of a stiletto True: a sabre 2 is a much BETTER swoop canopy than the stiletto. ciel bleu, Saskia
