  1. Before chopping a 2out (downplane). Before chopping ANY choppable 2out? (not only downplanes) Yes, but most often you would only chop a downplane, is what i meant. ciel bleu, Saskia

  4. That would be me. Have had several students with over 200 jumps but not within the 18 months. I've seen what can happen when you disregard standards. It's best to learn from others mistakes. Me too a few times. For not being current/heads-up enough, and once for refusing to jump a sensible canopy. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=1716271;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; I have been almost run into a few times by people flying cameras under canopy. If you as a new jumper want to jump camera so badly, stay the f*** away from anybody else, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Wow My kid ruined the illusion the second he looked at it, He said the wave is probably close, to the lens and the cliff distant! Damn Teenagers... That's why I never watch "The Making of ...". Totally ruined the Muppets for me ciel bleu, Saskia

    Cameras/coaching

But, I would have less of an issue with a guy with 1k camera jumps wearing one when trying something new. I never had a +1k cameraflying wingsuit student (yet), but I can relate. I have 1 (ONE) non-camera jump the last 1400 jumps (or more). I feel naked without a camera, and was actually distracted without (I'm MISSING something ). YMMV ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/CHART_00037___Rig_Sizing_Chart_11_28_58(1).pdf Aaaaaand even UTP gets it wrong: Triathalon But that aside, where do you see you can fit a 7cell in a rig where a same-size 9cell wouldn't fit? UTP lists the following 7cells as "fullfitting": spectre 170, storm 170, icarus student 169, omega 169, omni 169, synergy 170, triathlon 160 (so not even a triathlon 175). If you put a too-big main in a rig, you will have to work hard to pack it (been there, done that), you can damage/total the main bag/container (been there, done that), it looks ugly and what about the reserve, it is going to be smaller than your main (you can fit a 150 up tp a 170 or an optimum 176 in there, more reserve = less room for main and it may sit like a brick on your back). Sounds like this rig is just too small for you, ATM. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. That might be because there is no such thing as a pilot 135 A 132 does exist though. There are also plenty other 135 canopies that would be suitable, like safire, sabre 2, fusion, electra. A crossfire is a high perfomance canopy, meaning compared to a pilot it will be very much more sensitive to your opening bodyposition, it will turn faster, and dive much longer. It'll also be more sensitive to packing. It likes to be flown at a higher wingload. It's not recommended to jump a canopy like that until you have a couple hundred jumps (over here, you even need 700), for all those reasons. You'd be better off with another 135 at your experience level. Like i said, there should be plenty of 135s for sale in your neck of the woods eh Europe ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Correct, plus actually I don't care all that much about a person's ability to track well. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Even though I dislike cold very much, I do jump all year round, with temps down to ~ -28oC at altitude. I got me one of these, some good gloves (with under gloves), some good waterproof shoes (for the snow), 2 pairs of socks, a polar buff, a fleece jacket and thin fleece leggings for underneath the suit. Good to go

  15. The Netherlands: For camerawork in freefall: B-license, 200 freefall formation jumps, audio altimeter, permission from instructor. For camerawork purely under canopy (ie, film CRW): B-license, 10 CRW jumps, permission from instructor. B-license is at least 50 freefall jumps, perform a number of tasks in freefall and under canopy, choose 1 competition event (FS, CRW, Accuracy, FF, freestyle or style) and perform a numer of tasks for that, plus a written test. Most people take way longer than 50 jumps to get all this, especially if you choose freefly or CRW. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. That's not a feature of the AAD, that's a feature of your RIG. Ie, get a javelin or vortex. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. The point is, 1) I'm not American (and not a he but that's beside the point) and 2) pot is not illegal in my country (but guns are). This is not an American-only site, although you seem to consider it so. So, if you can trade for guns where it's not illegal, I should be able to trade for pot where it's not illigal too, right? ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Hmm i'd say life expectancy can be (much) higher, provided the canopy is not F111, and has been taken care of (jumping in the desert will trash a canopy much sooner). A reline is more in the ballpark of 600-700 jumps, for microline. About rigs, if you don't feel the need to freefly you should have some choice even with a low budget. Older vector 2s for instance. Whatever rig you're interesting in, best run it by your local rigger first. For a reserve, do not go higher than a wingload of 1:1, a bit lower = better. Don't forget about the AAD. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Yes and no, ie, up to you. I did, but I had 350+ jumps and 2 cutaways already. I advise wingsuit students with ~200 jumps to keep it connected. But since this jumper jumps camera, that's a bigger reason to disconnect the rsl. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Might be kinda funny though, an A-license holder showing up with a lightning 218 ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Oh, a diablo comes to mind And you wouldn't necessarily want some of the bigger canopies I see for sale, because they're student canopies, F111 canopies, CRW or accuracy canopies and what not. Well maybe you might buy a F111 or other student type canopy, but only if you really had to, money-wise. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. So, you'd be ok with me offering to trade for say pot? ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. I was trained like she was, 2 hands per handle. Looked normal to me. With a wingsuit, on my back, I'd have flipped over too. ciel bleu, Saskia
