  1. Broken nose from landing on it while trying to flare a smallish reserve with closed endcells (hooked myself into the ground, plf would've been smart). Couple of bruised ribs from a hard opening while filming FS4 with a full camera helmet during my first nationals. Out for 6 weeks. Twisted ankle followed by a bruised tailbone during my last nationals: since my ankle hurt and there was no wind, I tried landing on my butt a few times. Do NOT do that if you like to sit painfree for the next 2 years. Still ended up 3rd in AAA though Dislocated/extended shoulder from landing on it: I did sort of a half plf because I was jumping a full camera helmet, and I ended up hitting the ground with my right forearm. Hurt my wrist a bit (didn't notice my shoulder), hospital said nothing broken, pulled out of the competition, didn't jump for a week. Next friday I was filming AAA and did one tandemvideo meaning I had to clim into the plane without the step as I was last getting on, bad idea that. I ended up with a paralysed right (pull) arm in freefall as I was pulling out my pc. Let go of the pc above my back, luckily canopy opened ok Finished the tandemvideo ok-ish but couldn't jump for a few months after that ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. That's a known problem with (earlier) sabre2's. I'd ship it back to PD. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. There are a few issues with merits... The fabric doesn't last too long, it generally opens HARD (I wouldn't jump camera), and it does badly with even a little bit of turbulence (they are the first canopies to show problems). Glad there aren't many left anymore
  4. Agreed 100%. Better get a sabre 1 or something if you need a cheap canopy, and dump the merit... ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. I just ran into a similar thing. I find edited stuff of mine online here and there, but as long as they leave all the credits on, I don't care about that. But just now I found an edited video on YT with my swooping event footage mixed in. They never asked, and no credits or anything. They did add a bit of sarcastic commentary. I gave that footage to some swoopers I know during the event, for learning purposes. They decided to do their own event video using it. Last time I give those particular jumpers any footage anymore. I've always given footage like that away freely, never saw the need to watermark it like some. But, watermarking seems like a decent idea now ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Does it have to be windblades? If you go with lower gates, it's way easier to set stuff up that already floats: Lake Bussloo Swoop 2008 Empuriabrava beachboogie 2007 ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. I haven't heard of any incident with miniforce risers. The rig itself, if fitted with a skyhook, of course has the riser cover issue. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. You missed an otion: GET VIDEO ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. If you can wait half a year, buy some bonehead bonds now and get your helmet for half price in 6 months. Even with import duties and taxes, that's a very good deal
  10. So how were you planning on installing a single-point cutaway on that helmet? ciel bleu, Saskia

  13. Earlier this year, I have gained some more respect for the "old guys doing accuracy" as I did 1 jump on a ParaFoil 252 and had trouble just to get the slider down, to steer a bit and to flare the canopy. I need to go to the gym! Man those things are heavy to steer/flare I can comfortably do 12 camera jumps (video + heavy still camera) in a day, but 1 accuracy jump had me beat ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. 3rd, and yes I was nervous but more because it was my 3rd jump. I learned to pack before my first jump but after my first jump I had so much adrenaline going I was shaking a bit so I paid for the packjob. Packed my canopy after my 2nd jump and went up again.
  15. Don't know anything about imovie, but have you tried switching the hc1 from HD to SD yet? (firewire downconvert) ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Not swooping as such, but low turns in general, plus canopy-collisions, are the 2 leading causes for skydiving fatalities these days. My Vengeance is magenta + yellow, hard to say you didn't see me fly I jumped a purple/black/silver Diablo for 10 jumps and had a couple different people come up to me saying that canopy was very very hard to see. So, I tend to favor yellow, pink, red, orange these days. ciel bleu, Saskia

  18. You can use a lcd (or plasma or led) TV as a monitor, no problem. Most tvs can connect to a pc these days, using either VGA, DVI or HDMI ports. Look what port you have on your card and match that to a TV (DVI or HDMI is better than using VGA). Resolution should be the same (1920x1080 px), I think, but you'd have to buy a full HD TV (not HD ready). ciel bleu, Saskia

  20. Omni is ok, it's not the most docile 7cell out there but it's ok for wingsuiting. Safire is fine as well. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. You don't have to buy from within Ireland. There are 2nd hand parachutes in England, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, USA etc too ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. It'll stop a bit of light from the side, but mainly I use mine as a bumper... Can't hurt to leave it on so why remove it... ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. That is an OUTSTANDING idea! Ian? Maybe some video of a "normal" sized Sabre2 loaded in the typical performance envelope range with some good inside and outside video? Maybe toss out some ZA runs and just some good old fashion beer line swoops to show the capabilities? (correct me if I'm wrong here Bruno) I seem to remember Bruno Brokken getting called out during a world record event, for turning more than 90o (which wasn't allowed) with his spectre. AFAIK the reasoning was: No I did not SEE him make his final turn, but he swooped so damn far he MUST have done more than 90o! (of course, accusing a cameraman of not folowwing the lading pattern when his camera was rolling doesn't make that much sense...) ciel bleu, Saskia
