Nothing at the moment, as my nikon D300 is fairly bomb-proof. On more plasticky models I used Camera Armor. ciel bleu, Saskia

Questions about canopy turns without toggles?
dragon2 replied to crak's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That A-line turn is a common trick among accuracy jumpers and CRW jumpers. For accuracy, with those big canopies, it's way easier and way more effective to pull just one line than an entire riser. For CRW bigways, when flying on the outside of a formation you have to stop the canopy from flying 'round and wrapping up, it's easier to hang onto a single A-line than to hang on to the entire outside front riser for so long. ciel bleu, Saskia -
I asked my dr at the time, who also used to be a acrobatics pilot (handy). He said to wait 2 months at least before jumping, 3 before any acrobatics flying, so I did. It's your EYES. ciel bleu, Saskia

I'm not a rigger, but this I've seen after repacks: Main bag attached inside-out. Main canopy attached back-to-front. ciel bleu, Saskia

Does the Sony HDR-CX550V work for freefall?
dragon2 replied to PWScottIV's topic in Photography and Video
No: the CX100 type cameras use EIS which is much better for skydiving (as EIS can be turned OFF for real) External memory. Battery is always bottom load but doesn't need to be accesed so much if ever. Depending on the setup, accessing the memory card after every jump can be annoying with bottom loading cameras. For some setups it doesn't make a difference though (mine -
Lanky guy looking for advice on containers
dragon2 replied to NoValidTitle's topic in Gear and Rigging
Why no reserve included? What size reserve will fit in that rig? A vector 2 isn't worth much, it's also not freefly friendly. But it's a great starter rig to get you in the air, especially if you'll be having difficulty finding a suitable 2nd hand container. A zp.exe also isn't worth that much, but again, it'll get you in the air cheap. It's a similar canopy to the original sabre, but cheaper, so you could look at sabre 1's prices in your area to get an idea. Or just ask your local riggers/gear dealers what it should be worth. ciel bleu, Saskia -
No. Camayas use the LANC port, which is only found on tape cameras. Camera has no tape? Then camera has no LANC. So you need a hype-eye for the flash-based cameras. ciel bleu, Saskia

Hmmm no it's not... It's a series of left 360, right 360 and backloop, the turns in various directions. I once entered our Nationals doing Style (and even practiced for it, in HAIL). Now I wasn't very good at it at all, and neither were our judges anymore - they kept losing us after exit and picking us back up under canopy... I didn't elect to ask for a rejump, would've gotten 16 anyway. Anyway one jump I still had a few secs left after the series and I went "frontloops? backloops? frontloops? backloops?" with my hands in freefall "Now what did I just DO?" The judges could appreciate it though I remember they didn't appreciate the one freeflyer who did his series in a sit ciel bleu, Saskia

Xaos tail flapping during riser dives
dragon2 replied to surfrgrl1's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Easy enough to see if your brakelines are too short: Fly in brakes, let go of brakes and quickly grab both frontrisers and pull down as far as you can, keep them there and look up at the tail: if the brakes are now pulling on the tail, your brakelines are too short. You will definitely feel this as the canopy will start to buck/buffet because you're giving it both dive and brake inputs at the same time. ciel bleu, Saskia -
I dont think that is/was specific to any kind of brand-related training, but more individuals that didnt deem it needed. In our views, not as it should be... It also cut down on costs. Now you guys aren't expensive, but I've seen other numbers... Another reason I've heard was that you could focus your first jump or first few jumps on your own, then get video/debrief after that. I did my first flight with a BMI, never got a debrief never even saw the video although I paid for his jump. Did 58 mph average that flight in a classic 1, including dummy pulls, so that jump couldn't have been that bad My 2nd flight was with another wingsuiter's first, that went fine as well (paid my own ticket of course LOL). Dunno if all first few jumps (what is it, 5?) need to be "supervised" with all jumpers... With the ~200 guys yes but we've got a few wingsuiters here with a couple k jumps, if they want they can (and will LOL) go alone. Actually when I went for my PFI I was surprised at this explicit mention of solo jumps, but I was kinda used to that anyway. I think there's not really such a thing as a one size fits all FFC, I'm more of a tailor as needed kinda girl On another note, I may want to try my arm/shoulder again this weekend, been too long since I've flown So if you're putting something together.... ciel bleu, Saskia

If your instructors say that's a suitable rig for you, definitely inquire about the cypres' DOM: it may well be end of life and if it's not it will need its 8yr check + batteries for sure, kinda expensive if it's almost end of life. End of life for a cypres 1 is 12yrs + 3months from DOM. ciel bleu, Saskia

One of my first nikons did the same thing with jpegs, because I had turned on the anti-noise function. Now that function should only kick in at low shutterspeeds, can't remember what "low" was but I doubt it was the 1/400 I was shooting at I returned the camera for being slow, got a new one, and that one had the same problem... Because one of the first things I did was turn that function on, duh Later on a firmware version fixed that bug, but I wasn't using the anti-noise anymore by then I would try resetting your camera to factory settings and then doing absolutely nothing, just shoot on green, see what that does. ciel bleu, Saskia

Try and get rid of it twice or until hard deck, whichever comes first, then perform full reserve procedure. ciel bleu, Saskia

I got into an argument last year with a new wingsuiter. He got the FFC from me but decided to get coaching jumps the next day from another wingsuiter (BMI), who was also going to let him jump a Blade . I had to go to the DZO over that one, no way was I going to let him jump a Blade he barely made my grade for the FFC as it was. Then he was going to jump camera for his first wingsuit jump, we persuaded him out of that but he still jumped with a big ass empty sidemount bracket For others, some people I suppose I would let jump a camera, we've also had people with 3k jumps on stilettos. But on the whole, I'd much rather you jump a decent canopy, decent suit, and no camera. At least for the first few flights ciel bleu, Saskia

Couldn't you use a 2nd hand rig? ciel bleu, Saskia

Are you keeping your head still? I used to always turn off the IS but with the newer cameras, jumping with IS makes no visible difference and it comes in helpful when zooming in for student landings etc. But you really have to keep your head still ciel bleu, Saskia

Anyone hear about the camera-man who jumps without gear?

While I respect that, creating an account to resurrect a 6 yr old thread might not be the best way to "make this go away"... ciel bleu, Saskia
