  1. Alright so the word is too strong.... Not my native language ya know... BTW I do have pics of landings that could've gone better, but not everybody wants to see 'em... 'I caught a side gust' see pics, yeah right ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Those are called reversed risers and are found here in Europe quite a lot, because Parachutes de France's Atom have them, among others. But yeah, I suppose they do look kinda weird if you never saw any before. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Don't know if they changed that but I had a friend (who wanted my handmount) make me a nice wristmount in return. I don't like anything on my hand really let alone such a big ring. But it is fairly easy to make your own mount, or ask a rigger to. If that's the only thing that's preventing you from buying one... ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Elliptical canopies behave 'funny' tho in all that turbulence, leastways the Stiletto's and Contrail's I've seen, as did my Safire, no idea about crossbraced. Makes me happy always to have a Lightning, Spectre or Tri when I see that. Bump bump maybe but no cells collapsing, nose folding under etc. Fun to watch tho if you're not the one flying it I'm probably gonna try filming crew with a Diablo next year, see if that works... I'm not doing anything artsy btw, just regular filming so I'm in the burble almost all the time. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. A Spectre 150 at 1:1. I loooove 7cells... ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Hey don't forget http://www.theworldteam.com/Tcamera.htm ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Check out this site, 'desktops': http://www.martijnvandam.nl/ Heh heh just checked it, I shot the pic of Martijn as Santa on the first page ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. I realize I'm in no way an instructor. But I've caught myself snapping at jumpers I saw landing (I spend a great deal of time at the landing area, usually with my camera's) and doing just that. Basic rules for landing include 'did ya flare? keep it there!' (Translation I just made up). Unless you're really high up you don't have the time to let the canopy fly again before it dives into the ground. If you haven't flared all the way yet you can pause a bit then finish. Also a lot of students 'reach' for a couple jumps not realizing what they're doing with the toggles. Usually the jumpers respond to my somewhat-snap with a 'ow I didn't realise I did that' or 'I won't do that again!' I think they get that they somewhat frightened me! Of course if there is an instructor etc already there I don't say anything. But if I'm not sure anybody else saw it I do comment (and say that I'm no instructor too). Can't help myself... And I hope I prevented a landing incident or two (saw too many of them already). ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. Heh heh I've been accompanying a number of BASE jumpers, with my camera's. There was this bridge they were building which was accessible for a short while, and there was a crane next to it for a longer time. This one got jumped a lot; the fishermen didn't even look up anymore. Half a year later I was standing around in that neighbourhood, different object. Along comes this woman walking her little dog. The guys were still climbing. She saw me standing around innocently (NOT looking up). She then approached me: Are you the same guys jumping of the bridge last year? Me: Bridge? What bridge? Nah... Her: Is there a club or something, is this organised? Me: No... Her: Well it's cool, I like watching. Just be careful not to park where you're parked now (which was out of sight mostly) because the land's owner doesn't like that. Cool this, really! Have fun! Bye! ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Joris is the guy who told me this... And yeah I know it is a different canopy.......... ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. I didn't measure them. But I was told it was smaller by the Icarus guy I bought it from in Spain, and it flew and responded way way way faster then my Spectre. ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. I just sold my Safire 135 today, which came from CIMSA, and was definately way smaller then my Spectre 135... ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. My pro-dytter came with a mount and 2 zip ties for both sides of the mount. I think he meant an extra ziptie to keep the pro-track in the mount. I have mine secured with a velcro band. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Henny Wiggers (BMI, posts here as ParaShoot) has a whole list of things to practice before wingsuiting for real. Also, freeflying helps to make you comfortable in 'weird' positions. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Nope not true. All original Safire's have the size issue no matter their origin. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. There are threads about the software and about bugs... However I have one and getting another one too. Plus points for me are the logging capabilities for CF/hopnpops and BirdMan. The pro-track doesn't log CF at all, the Neptune does. The pro-track stops at 119 secs of freefall, the Neptune keeps going; cool for BM. The Neptune can act as either an audible of visual alti, thus far I've only used it as an audible. This frees my pro-track for mounting on my ankle for a more accurate reading for BM. For CF I'll probably try using the Neptune as an alti but I'm not sure I like a digital alti at all, yet. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. One other thing; to get somewhat serious about CRW you need to jump about the same WL as the other jumpers. This automatically means you need a lot more jumps if you want to do more then 2 ways especially arranged for you. Unless everybody else happens to jump at a very low WL of course. For me to get my B license stuff I needed a couple 2ways, easy to arrange, even at 105 jumps (I jumped a WL of 1 at the time). But for the 3 and 4 ways I needed, I tried a year long to get 3 guys at the same time flying 'boats' just for me. Didn't happen... Only when I was allowed a Lightning 126, WL 1.25 without lead, did I finally get anywhere. At our DZ most jump a WL of about 1.3 (Lightnings), with Team Teuge jumping about 1.8 which is way too high for me and they jump Tri's anyway. But my Lightning 126 finally allowed me to join other groups without hassle. So I jumped 3 ways, 4ways, an 8 way, couple of 6 ways, etc all in one week after a year of 2ways every now and again. The 2ways were fun, and you learn more from those probably, but I needed bigger formations to get my licence... ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. I started at just over 100 jumps. But I've got Henny Wiggers and the Dutch national rotation team and another sequential team at my DZ
  19. How about shipping overseas? I got someone interested in a canopy I'm selling. But the buyer wants it checked out by their rigger. I'm not willing to ship the thing halfway across the world for nothing... I offered to have it checked out by MY rigger, or by someone from Icarus itself if that guy shows up at our DZ again in time. How would you handle this?? I did buy a canopy over the internet from the States once, unseen, sent money first. But it wasn't much money so I thought I'd give it a try. Turned out the canopy was alright, however instead of a 'Triathlon' it turned out to be a 'Triathlon hybrid' which surprised me Well I happened to be looking for one in that size but had already given up on finding one cheap. Now it fell into my lap Still think ya might want to say something in the add tho ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. I agree, however: saturday a jumper borrowed a pro-track for a 3way HD jump and got weird readouts: exit alti was the same as other pro-tracks/neptunes on the load, namely about 12k, but the freefall time was 84 secs going 199 mph and opening at 1600 ft Yeah right... And he wasn't the one who opened the lowest, either... Methinks this pro-track is somewhat off! I however DID get 84 secs freefall time, on my pro-track, with my new wingsuit, open at 4100ft. My Neptune read 86 secs, open at 4500 ft. Or maybe it was the other way 'round, can't remember. Pro-track was on my ankle, the Neptune outside my helmet. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Heh take a look at my Lightning then My riggers says, if you can't put your finger through, leave it. Keep an eye on it, if the hole gets bigger, fix it. If your instructors say it's safe it probably is... Get a second opinion if you're not sure, but from someone (rigger, instructor) that's SEEN this canopy... ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. You want the MiniFlexZ goggles. I have a small face too and these fit me perfectly. We used my pair once for a TM's daughter of nine. I used to wear soft contacts too but have had Lasik since. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Yeah I jumped the LAC a couple of times, in Germany. It's nice, sortof a cross between our Grand Caravan and an Otter But man the other plane's paintjob is.... ehm... ciel bleu, Saskia

    Norway

My sister is going to live in Bergen, Noway for the next half year. I thought, maybe I'd visit her And maybe stop by Voss, too But, I've been wanting to go see that 'popular big wall in Southern Norway' for some time. I'm not a BASE jumper, I may have tentatively wanted to be for a while but standing on a tower cured me of that real fast. I wasn't going to jump myself, it was a demo jump for really experienced BASE jumpers only, but this was the first time I actually was up there with them, instead of watching on the ground (hey this thing has a lift!). It was a nice tower too, being fairly high (much higher then the usual electricity (power?) towers etc I'm used to seeing jumped) and fairly narrow so not much to hit, but for the almost impossible landing area. But I stood there, and thought: no f* way would I dare jump this. Oh well, I'll stick to jumping out of airplanes thank you very much
  25. Most if not all Tandem Reserves are built on a 9 cell planform. OK didn't know that... Seen enough tandem reserves, just never counted the cells But, why 9 cell reserves? What's the advantage of that, and why specifically for tandems (which I don't know all that much about)? ciel bleu, Saskia
