  1. Thanx And yeah, it was definately WAY WAY COOL Also nice was meeting a couple people I've seen here on dropzone (thanx, billvon ), and the camera crew was great as well. Some of those I knew because I'm with our national skydiving magazine, but only by email, so now we have seen each others faces
  2. Nah, I did the website, and shot ground footage and from the planes. No freefall camera work yet and definately not something like that! Edited to add: although come to think of it, standing in the landing area may be just as dangerous! Right, eh, left hand circuit? Whatwasit? Whaddayamean I can't hook? Watch out!! ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Yeah of course they can.... But at least for me, that meant I only got to do 2ways. Anytime there were 2 or more teammates, they'd jump their own canopies and I'd be alone again. I needed a couple of 3 and 4ways for my license, took me over a year! And even with me on a 143 (which would be against regs now too), most of our crew guys are slightly on the heavy side which means 193 canopies etc. They don't like how those fly, and they needed to arrange special rigs etc. Me too, since a lightning 143 doesn't fit in a container for 150. Even my 126 doesn't fit in there! So yeah, for a couple coach jumps they'll jump larger canopies. But for fun-jumping, good luck! ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Well got topdocked this weekend by a Velocity wingload 2, me on my new Tri wingload 1.3 (if that). So it is possible But when I was doing a bit of 4way rotation there was no way for me to get down if my wingload was too far off (ok so I learned to fly a bit better since then but still...). Now I usually have 1.25-1.3 vs 1.4 for the boys but that's ok. Also, there's a limit to how much lead you can wear.... I was told I couldn't jump a Lightning 126 for a while, even tho I was jumping a Safire 126 and a Spectre 135 at the time. I was told to grab a 143 and put on lead. Did the math, didn't like it! I needed like 15 kilos of lead (which is 1/4 my body weight). Now, with the 126 I jumped a couple times with 8 or 9 kilos (to film 4way rotation with guys flying a WL of 2), and that's a lot of lead... ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Standard reply: ask your instructor! My point of view (and I'm no instructor): if you have a lot of experience with 7 cells (like spectre's, triathlons, lightnings etc) in the same size range, you may be fine. But 1.4 is overloaded for F111, and if you're not concious it's gonna be 'interesting' I'm afraid ... And if you are concious and have no experience with 7 cells at all, well, ditto! Also, personally I'd be more inclined to load some brands of reserves higher then others. Ie I completely trust PD and PdF, but have doubts about some other brands so if I buy or jump those they should be big. I already have 4 reserve rides, of which 3 on a 1.2 loaded older PdF reserve (128 sqft). Was offered a Tempo 120, no, thanx... ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. On the website you mentioned, there's a News-section which has quicktime movies for most days, including both record jumps. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. A tri-plane also okay? http://fly.to/cfspektakel no direct url tho: english version - archive - 2001 - photos (scroll down to about two-thirds) - enjoy! Found a pic of a downplane too, at archive 98: If you can catch someone, make them do it! Watch the hands! Every jump should end with a downplane. How low can we go? 500, 400, 300, 200 ft and... flare! LOL ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. We had one freeze up at our DZ this weekend, froze under canopy at a little over 1000 ft. This one was being used as a visual alti for swooping and had the newest software (put on personally by alti2 too). It froze anyway. Battery indicator said full, but after resetting the unit it showed nearly empty, which is probably why it froze. Had that happen to mine once, same prob, but with an older software version (18 something). And I was using it as a back-up audible so not much of a problem. But this was supposed to be fixed by now.... And these things seem to go through batteries very very fast... Not sure if it's just me, and it is only one battery, and probably the flight to Bangkok and back didn't help the batteries any, but my pro-track doesn't seem to have the same probs. And the pro-track batteries seem to last way more jumps! ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. The Matter suit I jumped gave me all kinds of small problems at and after deployment time, but with my Classic (besides the first couple jumps) all deployments are on-heading, line-twist-free and not too hard. Check. OK I can practice that, I think I can move my head around freely now but I'll check this close to somebody else. Never did Which may be why I may not be allowed to go jump BM camera without first doing other freefall camera work.... It is. You talking about something that happened at my DZ? Or another such incident..? OK cool. thanx.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. I was told that sometime before, forgot about it tho, thanx. Of course, since I started out doing CReW, I own a TRV25 and have a top-mount helmet (which since it is a modified pro-tec needs replacing anyway, but a PC camera is so much $$$$) ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. I only have done a couple CReW camera jumps so far, and one solo freefall camera jump with a lineover I have like 40 BM jumps so far (no logbook handy). I plan on doing a LOT of BM jumps this year. I have 460 jumps total. What would you say I need to do before starting filming BM? Rules here say I have to have 200 freefall formation jumps to do freefall camera jumps (I can do camera hop'npops tho, hence the CReW), right now I still need like 40, so starting sometime this summer I should be allowed to start freefalling with my camera's. I don't flatfly much, so if I wanted to film that, best thing I suppose would be to LEARN to flatfly first, taking up lots of time & money I'd rather spend doing BM, CReW and freefly (in that order). . Freeflying I'm not really very good at yet, I can do decent head-up, but no head-down. I suppose I could bring my camera's along in sit-fly jumps... So, anybody have any advise? ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. This says it is: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/Detailed/54.html However I don't think any canopy has any real F111 in it anymore (?) but the name stuck. Anyway here's a bit about the french fabrics: http://www.parachutes-de-france.com/us/parachutes/catalogue/canop_intro.htm ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. No it deployed at 30 meters up, like I said. The jumper was setting up to land when the freebag fell down. I'm not sure about AAD maintanance regulations in Belgium, also didn't ask about this specific unit. I'll ask some belgians next time I see some ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Check that the battery charger is ok for your voltage (it probably is), and you'll need a different plug of course. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. World Team Thailand had a misfire at 30 meters: Sunday 02-01 ... Side note - a few days ago, a camera flyer was landing by the radar antenna in the center of the field, and had his cypres fire just as he was flaring. Apparently it was an old one without the EMI shielding, but people have been avoiding it ever since anyway. It's probably a good thing, since getting a canopy edge caught on the spinning reflector would definitely not be a good thing. ... ciel bleu, Saskia

    WOT no helmet

You can also wear a frap hat after your A, but you have to wear SOMETHING, and for Freefly a hard helmet is mandatory regardless of licence. The one-piece suit is also untill your A only. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Waterproof, and only one model, so you can switch it between student/pro/tandem (useful if you are a DZ owner for instance). And it had logbook-like functions tho I haven't seen that function myself yet. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. I actually did one a few years ago, but I seem to remember the reserve drills being: "Here is your reserve, try not to use it." Thanks for the info - I need it for a whuffo friend of mine. Ivan LOL that happened to me too when I did an intentional cutaway with my normal rig and I had an extra harness with a belly round underneath. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. That one comes of course from http://www.theworldteam.com/News.htm. If you look around on some of the web pages here: http://www.theworldteam.com/camerateam/camerateam.htm you'll find a couple more. ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Expensive? That's relative... My D30 was EUR 3000, I think it's successor the D60 was EUR 3000 too. Then came the 10D for EUR 1500, but I bought a EUR 1200 Rebel which came with a lens too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Put an extra mortgage on my appartment... And put a lot on plastic. Quit some other expensive hobbies. I get a little back with selling pictures, but that doesn't make up for even the camera's. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. It's working, but this one is a download video not streaming so....... takes a while. Go to http://www.theworldteam.com/news/0206.htm to see how big it is.... ciel bleu, Saskia

  24. More pics will be added when I get them and when I get home. Right now the video is uploading, hopefully it'll finish before our van arrives in half an hour, to take us to the airport... Right now I have a 31k line which is more then I had at the airbase.... Still slow tho!!! ciel bleu, Saskia
