I've never tried a harness with cut-in laterals, but I do some CReW and I don't really like the look of it, in terms of snaggability ..... It does look comfy tho. However, if you want to sell the rig later on, does this option narrow the 'range' of persons'll fit? ciel bleu, Saskia

I think (never needed them myself!) our DZ offers at least one free refresher at the start of the season. If you can't make that one (or maybe there are a couple more) you can sit in on a FJC but that'll cost you, not as much as a full course tho. These refreshers are meant for < A license or people that have more jumps but have been away from the sport for a while. Anything else, you get a talk, get asked a lot of questions, and will be put in the hanging harness. And then go do an easy jump maybe with dummy pulls, something like that... ciel bleu, Saskia

Weather was good for a change... The day started with a rodeo jump: me on the back of a birdman, thanx for the ride Johan . Then 2 formation BM jumps, and, best of all, 2 solo's in a S3 from my BMI

Do they both have those brakelines? Or 5 cell Swift only? Can't remember. Might be enough to give you a heart attack if you don't know about those and see lines flapping around on your reserve... Swifts, both 5 and 7 cells, are quite common on my DZ, although I think mainly in CReW gear, for some reason ciel bleu, Saskia

Since you're in Europe, may I suggest an Atom 00. Will fit a ZP 150 (and a hybrid 170), ZP 135, ZP 120. I have one, and the only canopy I have/have had that does not fit in it is my Lightning 126 which packs up too big... It has held (at least AFAIK) a Merit 170, Spectre 150, Sabre 135, Spectre 135 and a Safire 126. The Spectre 150 was a tight pack but that was mainly my fault (new at packing ZP and a new canopy to boot). ciel bleu, Saskia

I weigh exactly the same as you. At 75 jumps I bought a Spectre 150, traded it for a Spectre 135 after 120 jumps on it plus about 30 jumps on a Lightning 143 and some on a Tri 150. The 135 felt fast to me for like 3 jumps, then I got used to it. For me the 150 was plenty fast to learn on (I biffed the first 9 landings). And this was a Spectre. If I were you, even if your instructors say to go for a 135, I'd jump a 150 for a couple dozen jumps... The changes keep getting bigger: even tho your wingload won't be high, these aren't big canopies so they have quite a bit of performance, also the percentage you're downsizing is quite high with these smaller canopies. Skipping say a 210 in between a 230 and a 190 is nothing for someone your weight. However personally I wouldn't downsize 20% in one go... ciel bleu, Saskia

Same problem here! edited to say: However email notification on reply works fine. ciel bleu, Saskia

Even tho mine isn't as fast as it should be, I did have a lot of fun trying it out, this weekend. I attached some sample pics, none are photoshopped, just cropped & compressed. ciel bleu, Saskia

3 words... Ask your instructor. Personally I wouldn't load a Tempo at 1.4 at your number of jumps, or for that matter, at mine. Then again, that would have to be a pretty small Tempo ciel bleu, Saskia

Yeah I had a lot of Canon stuff. However, I didn't yet have the lens(es) I'd need for skydiving; most of my lenses were zooms. Tele, mostly, too. So, I'd have to buy a 14 mm fixed or something anyway. (Not gonna use the 300D kit lens) That's a lot of €€€. Also, the 300D bugged me immensely. Never shoulda sold my D30...... Henny's D100 I liked much better then the 300D. Then the D70 previews came. I got a good offer for my 300D. I sold a couple of lenses already, got 5 left of which 3 are practically sold. I got my hands on 2 cheap 2nd hand zooms for Nikon. And now I have the D70. Set up for ground shots (my main lens was a 3.5-4.5 35-105 mm Canon, now I have a 2.8-4 28-105 mm Sigma). Which is what I'll mostly be doing this year at least... I'm too busy with wingsuiting and judging swooop competitions to start serious camera flying. Also I don't have a helmet suitable for both video and stills, and I doubt I even want a digital (heavy) camera on my head anyway.... Whether or not I'll get the remote done after a while, don't know yet. Then I'd need a good helmet and a wide angle lens too. €€€€€........ Gonna get a 18-50 mm zoom for wide angle shots too. So, since this camera is supposed to handle 3 fps for 3 or 4 secs and then 1.5 fps for the rest, it should be perfect for me, at this time. If I get a working camera!!! ciel bleu, Saskia

My fav photo shop called me 3 weeks ago: We have your D70 kit, come and get it! So I went there, but.... Oops I forgot to call you... We've sold 2 of the 3 kits to the same guy, one for him, one for his wife. Those got stolen the night after, along with a laptop. So... We gave him your D70.... Thought you wouldn't mind... The first camera that comes in, is mine, but no telling how long this will be Sold my 300D last sunday, so didn't have a camera anymore! Started calling around, found a D70 body at another fav store. Imported body tho, english manual etc. Who cares?! Well the warranty would be handled slightly different; the store itself handles these camera's. Ok, whatever, just give me my camera! Got it

Aff and tandem get video and stills, why not static line?
dragon2 replied to Jumpmunki's topic in Photography and Video
At our DZ you can get a cameraperson to make a video and get stills of your entire group (briefing, in flight, exit). Of course the camera person can only jump with the last one. One such jump is the by now famous exit video on Martijn van Dam's site I think there's a starting price, which goes up a bit for more participants but then you share the costs. Not really expensive tho, and I wish I'd have done something like that... Didn't HAVE a group anymore tho due to sh*tty weather at the time Personally I shoot a lot of landing pics, but I don't want to arrange anything with students. Mainly because I don't want them target fixating on me, and also because usually there's so many of them and they can never seem to remember the color of their chute..... If I do happen to have nice pics, and I can identify 'em, I tell them. Sold a few that way. ciel bleu, Saskia -

Problem is, we're always a bit behind with american mags, here. So bumming one may take a week or two... How would we get the details from USPA? ciel bleu, Saskia

All I did was answer Mjosparky's question where 'new riggers' came up? As did PhreeZone. So, I really don't get your question: would I be WHAT? A new rigger?????? If that's your question, the answer is no, I hate sewing and dislike packing too much, and I rather doubt you'd ever call me (unless you want your phonebill skyhigh) Also, no such thing as rigger mills here, if I understand what you mean correctly... I still don't know what you want from me... I have no problem with your original post, like I said I just answered a question from somebody else. ciel bleu, Saskia

How about the title of this thread? ciel bleu, Saskia

Yeah I know.... The Belgian team kept wanting me to jump Diamant's (thanx, Gadget ). French CReW canopy. Couldn't decently land a 160!!! No flare, and and it gives me the feeling I'm not strong enough to even STEER the thing Wierd canopies, and def not my favorite... ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Yeah I do that a lot, since I'm always the floaty one it helps a bit. But it makes my canopy land harder! I did attach the slider bumpers so that I can add the links and remove them again without having to re-do the tacking every time Got to me the third or fourth time I had to go find the special needle... Not sure which trim I want, and with the stuff I do know it doesn't really matter. Our CReW pro's here say to keep the sequential trim, but maybe that's because they want to borrow it from time to time When it needs a reline and I'm still only doing what I'm doing now, it's gonna spend the rest of it's life rotation-style ciel bleu, Saskia
-
LOL I like the avoiding a collision part I usually tell people, Hey, if I can do it.....?! Then again, not all Lightings land the same. Mine lands okay (has sequential trim) but when somebody borowed it from me I borrowed his rotation Lightning back, landed way better! I wanna trade!! Also some of the canopies we have here are shortlined, meaning you need to get extra speed for landing or else. Ouch. Never jumped on of those yet, but seen some results Will not jump one of those either, till I get used to high-performance landings on my own Lightning (always land it straight in, usually no riser input)... ciel bleu, Saskia
