Something like this one? Although the text is in Dutch, sorry 'bout that, no idea how to change it. http://www.12000ft.com/photography.pps Translations: slide1: Photography is not only an art, it also produces some funny images as shown in the next slides. The commentary ought to be: DUCK you morons!!! slide2: Just making a sharp turn... (the showoff) slide3: We can do that too ya know!! slide4: Now pay attention to where you park, before you know it you're outside the lines slide5: A funny variant of 'double parking' slide6: Waterskiing for exxagerators slide7: Traffic from the right has the right of way of course. But be careful merging! slide8: A wrong button is naturally easy to push... (I told you so, 'no bom!') (= reference to a duch commercial) slide9: And now we know why the war is so expensive... For simple conversions like this, I usually advise people to use MS PhotoEditor. Most people already have it even if they don´t know it, it´s on the MS Office cd. Simple program to understand and it does essential things like conversions, rotations, and resizing. It does not offer a control over the jpeg compression, but usually it compresses the image so it is still okay to look at and it´s really small. ciel bleu, Saskia

Should I invest in any gear for my AFF training?>

I bought a pro-tec when I was still on the SL. Saved me money on renting and I like to have my own stuff. Later on I bought a freefly helmet which is my main helmet now (okay it is just cooler), but I now have 2 pro-tecs: my old one which is perfect for CRW (I want to wear a hard helmet and this one has got ear holes so I can hear the calls). My other one is my very own very cool (well it's mine ain't it) camera helmet! So there. Nothing against pro-tecs. Cheap, durable, lightweight, holds 1 or 2 audibles, good protection and versatile. Also the disciple of swooping is really catching on here, and a hard helmet is required at competitions. Most swoopers here wear skate helmets or pro-tecs if they have to wear a helmet. ciel bleu, Saskia -
Try looking in the birdmen forum, there's a couple threads about them there. Also in the BASE forum I think. Search for ' Pantz' . ciel bleu, Saskia

Earlier this year I was following 2 crw guys around. I noticed this thing to my left, getting closer real soon. What the ^&* is that? Well it turned out to be a largish orange balloon. Kinda like a weather balloon. It was Queen's Day here in Holland, so that was probably the reason it was orange. The other 2 never saw it, but it scared me a little. Didn't expect something like that and it passed me very very fast and fairly close (I estimate about 200 m). And it was BIG. Too bad I didn't have my camera... ciel bleu, Saskia

It'll arrive tomorrow. You'll have it for next weekend. Who's yo pusher? Whoa! What about me? Go pull strings and stuff and find out when MY suit is gonna get here! (grumble-DAMN, me and Lisa used to be tight ) Yeah wondering where mine is, too, it is already a week overdue.......... What we DID get tho (other jumpers at our DZ) were a couple of Pantz in right colors, wrong sizes. That's a way to keep them busy... So everybody, STOP ordering Pantz and let them finish our suits!!! ciel bleu, Saskia

Huh. Now I don't believe anymore that you're a BMI! ciel bleu, Saskia

Huh finally found something that's cheaper here! 4 sony tapes or 5 panasonic for like eur 19 at Mediamarkt. Prices vary a bit and special offers are even cheaper (or you don't have to buy 4 or 5 tapes at once). TDK seems to be more expensive but I like sony/panasonic better anyway. But the sony chip tapes are eur 13 a piece or something like that. Too bad... Too expensive for me. ciel bleu, Saskia

ROTFL Guess I'll sorta be joining you; my suit, when it finally gets here, will be silver body with purple wings. Definitely shiny

I jump my spectre 135 for bm. My wl is only 1.15 tho. It spun up the first couple jumps, it hasn't after that so far (knock on wood). Except for my one matter wingsuit jump but then I wasn't really lying still at deployment time. I have had to kick out of the twists (2 left) just ONCE, the rest had already sorted itself out in the time it took me to unzip my arms. Great canopy for this type of stuff, I'd say! BTW got about 25 wingsuit jumps so far. ciel bleu, Saskia

I'd think you wouldn't be able to get the slider past dive blocks? I have blocks on my crw rig and I really like em. Thought about adding them to my spectre too because I use that canopy for filming crw sometimes and the blocks are easy to grab without looking. But then my slider would have to stay up... ciel bleu, Saskia

Hmmm never heard a speedskydiver before, but bellyflyers can certainly be heard falling, from the ground. Not sure if I ever heard freeflyers tho? That's weird, or maybe just coincidence since I have to be at the landing spot, the spot has to be close to that and it has to be quiet enough to hear freefallers... Anyway a belly 4-way makes a lot of noise! ciel bleu, Saskia
-
I believe that that frozen skydiver would fall perfectly stable. When I was doing SL jumps and later on doing short delays and even later, practising hop'npops, I wasn't reacting to any airflow at all, I was just punching an arch real hard. I was stable enough

Way to go guys.... Now, be here at a day that I can actually JUMP, and we'll make it a threesome if you want heh heh Still waiting for my very own suit Supposed to be here by now (I know I have NO patience whatsoever )... Oh well if the weather is okay next weekend I'll jump Henny's Matter suit again but hopefully with more altitude and LESS of the plane in sight (boy I thought I was gonna hit the tail ) Did you guys get pro-tracks? What speed? ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Hit 49 mph on my first wingsuit jump, but can sustain about 55 mph. I got 119 secs (or maybe more, damn pro-track ) from 13k - 4.5k. Tracking, I go like 90 mph (can't remember the exact speed, I was wearing Pantz tho). edited to add: I put my pro-track on my lower leg to get more accurate readings. ciel bleu, Saskia

Cheap Russian Zenitar Fish Eye Lens for Digital SLR cameras
dragon2 replied to friis's topic in Photography and Video
They shoot accuracy on me anyway I tend to stand around the landing spot a lot Got knocked over once tho.... The pic just before I got hit made it into our national magazine tho heh heh. And had a hairclip thingie knocked out of my hair once So, I'm not afraid, and most jumpers know me. If I'm standing there and I don't shoot them they get mad I'll try the flash thing some time tho, see if it works for me. Some shots from this weekend, with the iso 100 thing (1037 is with the kit lens): ciel bleu, Saskia -
Yeah and if you do a h&p add the jump, if you want to use it as a logbook. ciel bleu, Saskia

dragon2 replied to friis's topic in Photography and Video
Iso was set at 100 actually, still is. Huh, how did that happen.... Didn't check it But still, the pics with my old zoom (which is 3.5-4.5) were great, also at sunset (we're not talking real dark here). I actually do have a flash but I rarely use it. I tend to use it for avoiding red-eye mostly, and for these-need-to-be-real-good portraits etc. I've never seen anyone use a flash for skydivers before, I'd be afraid the flashlight would distract them? And anyway, I don't suppose it'd reach, except if I made arrangements beforehand to make sure they land where I want them to and not 50 m away... BTW I was pleasantly surprised with this flash. So far, almost no red eyes to be seen, it comes up so far. And it seems to be more light then my D30 and 50E (my IX7 had a really annoyingly bright flash! didn't work real good tho), also according to people who butted in and got the flash full in the face heh heh. Didn't check the numbers tho. But yeah, I know, it's sorta crap... ciel bleu, Saskia -

Still haven't jumped my D300 for various reasons, but so far, on the ground, I am not liking the kit lens!! First pics I took were with flash, inside, of dogs and of a party. Excellent! Then I took my camera outside for the sunset load. Took about 15 pics of people landing, of which none turned out the way I wantend. All of them way too dark, too long a shutter time so a lot of them moving, and 2 so dark they were almost silhouettes against the sunset sky. Nice but not what I asked for Then last weekend I shot a couple of pics of swoopers during the day. No good either. What the *%^ is this?!? Is it the camera or is it the lens??? So I switched lenses to my old 35-105 mm zoom and took pics of the swooping contest we had this weekend. Much better!! Not all were great, I suppose spot-metering would have worked better for a couple shots. But I feel al lot better again
