  1. Yeah, and I would have opened the reserve - how? No bridle-attachment on it! (It's not a Raven Nor a PD demo reserve...) Static-lining it (was also suggested to me): also not an option: no bag/rig for a 128... Ik wil ook geen bolletje!! Maar kan er weinig aan doen... ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Heh heh: my instructor didn't really like my comment: Next repack can I do that again?! Although ofcourse I DO have another rig, with a reserve in it I've never even seen before... Repack coming up in december ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Well, actually... Yeah. Ofcourse I did carry 2 knives with me just in case, and if the reserve had opened with one closed end-cell again I'd have landed it without deploying the round. My instructor: even if you have a line-over on your reserve, try and see which line it is and cut it, before deploying the round. Makes me feel I really DON'T wanna end up with both a (malfunctioning and un-cuttaway-able) square and round at the same time if I can avoid it. Although I'd rather be under a BIG mess then a small one, in terms of amount of fabric... Luckily I didn't need the round. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. It's a Transfair, 128 sqft, made by Parachutes de France. The Techno 128 is it's successor. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. UPDATE (on this thread): Today my repack is due. Yesterday, I did an intentional cutaway. When my reserve opened minus one end-cell half a year ago, it ended with me breaking my nose (found that out later) and with me not having as much confidence in my reserve as before . My rigger and my instructor and other jumpers said to keep the reserve for now, and if I hadn´t had to use it before the next repack (half a year) then to re-create the situation and intentionally cutaway. So this weekend I borrowed an extra harness and a belly reserve, got a briefing for the round (never seen one in my LIFE), and put those on underneath my rig. This made getting to the reserve handle a bit tricky esp. since I was trained to use both hands per handle. So my instructor told me to change my procedure for this jump to one hand per handle. Practised this like 20 times on the ground... Then we got a weather hold, and I became more nervous/tense every minute . Which was kinda stupid I suppose... Finally the weather cleared enough to jump. Got out at 5000 ft and did a clear-and-pull. I had an appointed 'gear chaser' who jumped out after me. We flew to the agreed 'cutaway point', after which I hung around for a bit, still with my brakes unreleased. Then he flew a bit towards me and shouted 'Lost your nerves??!' No, but we weren´t at 3k yet which was where I was supposed to cutaway. Then I gave him the signal (well, waved my arms around) and grabbed both of my handles. Cutting away took me longer then expected (right, PEEL dummy), I waited a bit then pulled silver. Clean cutaway, nice and stable
  6. The Teardrop is manufactured by the english Thomas Sports: http://www.thomas-sports.com/. PISA made the Naro I think, I don't think Aerodyne ever made a container before (?), they do now tho. I saw one, seems real nice. Looks like a cross between an Atom and a Vector 3 or something, liked it... ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Hey just because you americans haven't heard of something, don't mean it's necessarily NEW ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Huh now it looks af if it´s MY fault you had to pay that much LOL But Teuge is actually the cheapest DZ in Holland... You guys are lucky!!! ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. We had one tandem student ask the video guy this weekend: Did you get shots of the girl next to me at the table? Answer: Yes I did. Tandem student: Could you please NOT put that in the video? ROTFLMAO ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. The shop near our DZ sells them, see the yellow helmet here: http://www.parachutecase.nl/theshop/artikel/helmen/index.html or here: http://www.parachutecase.nl/nieuwsbrief/index.html For the manufacturer see here: http://www.parasportitalia.com/EN/headwear.htm A couple of newer jumpers have bought them for freefly (they're way cheaper then say Bonehead), also at least 2 experienced jumpers here have them: http://www.proton.org/~dragon2/chutes22/pics/IMG_7172.JPG. Also saw one that was to be used as a camera helmet (top mounted), n-i-c-e. They're a bit flexible, not like Bonehead, which I'm not sure I like. But they're cheap, take a dytter, come in a bunch of colors, and you can side or topmount camera's to them. I likes! ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Precisely my story!! I 'load' a Manta at 0.55:1. I did one no-flare landing once: I had this routine for the first couple jumps: it's flare time so WAIT WAIT FLARE!! Only after 3 jumps I got it so it went like this: it's flare time so WAI- BAM! ankles-knees-teeth (I was still hanging in an X). Oooff, but no harm done. Jumped a Manta again for my 300th, best SL exit I ever did, but I could NOT keep up (or rather, down) with the 2 other students (guys but not very heavy at all)... Tried fronts but the nose went all mushy... So I ended up hanging around a LONG time... On landing I thought, how come I couldn't land this before??!! It's sooooo easy (except I needed to keep a way way bigger tab on the wind). ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Hey Jelle, Didn't know you had a reserve ride... Eh, BEER!!! Not seen you for a while.... Anyway, don't know why you went to both handles, could you see them both with the risers in front of you? I might've done the same if I couldn't , too, to be sure to keep track of the silver handle... Anyway, if I were you I'd stick to the first method I learned, and ask for an extra ' harnastest'. And talk to the instructors of course. But since I'm not you, don't listen to me just go to the instructors ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Who, the CF team or Gap? Gap website: http://skydivegap.online.fr/ World Championships 2003 website: http://www.mondial03.com/ US CF Team website: no idea ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Got a Spec AND a Lightning, so TWO 7cells here! ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Belly, and used to have 3 in each ear, now only one. The belly I've had for a year, still hasn't healed but I'm too stubborn to remove it Any tips on getting it healed..? ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Maybe not on your side of the pond. A lot of intermediate jumpers here jump Merit's (I think it might be the second most jumped canopy for this class of jumpers, the first being the original Sabre, but this is just my guess). I've seen a couple of Electra's and Silhouette's around too. Depends on where you are I guess, american jumpers can't jump PdF's stuff but for us it is cheaper then a lot of other (american) brands. Personally I really didn't like the way a Merit opens and flies and lands, I liked packing it tho. Never jumped an Electra or Silhouette. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. ASAIK, Spain has no such regulation. France does (as of either earlier this year or soon later this year), and so does some other DZs in Europe (Empuria in Spain). In Holland an AAD is mandatory untill your C-licence (or rather, your equivalent of our C-licence). Although I wouldn't be very surprised if they changed that to mandatory, period, in the near future. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Do a search.... This question has been asked like a 1000 times before. Look also for spectre, silhouette, sabre, safire, triathlon, etc. Also remember, we don't know you, so ask your instructor about which canopies/sizes are suitable for you. Also, try and demo, to see which canopy you like. ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Nope. The spectre probably has microlines, the Lightning probably not, and the Lightning is reinforced (more fabric). Maybe it helps if the Lightning is hybrid or F111 tho. I have a container that fits a Spectre 150 (w/microlines), I couldn't get a Lightning 126 (ZP) in there! ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Not saying they are very long swoops, but yeah, Í know a couple of CReW guys that swoop their Lightnings/Comp Triathlons fairly well (see pics, these are the best I have...). Not to mention the airlocked/crossbraced stuff of course... ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. I suppose, you can use it to cut stuff that's stuck to other stuff you really really don't want it to be stuck to There's a post mentioned higher up from a cameraman who got his part of his suit stuck to his helmet, for instance... Weird shit happens... ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. True. Therefore: if the TM´s refuse to go up, that´s a red flag. Also, even if they still go up and I´m not sure, I usually ask them, cause they´ve been in the air (as opposed to ground crew). Also, if tandems are coming straight down, that´s allot of wind... ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. You may have more luck posting this in Canopy Control...... ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Or you can put them on front to reduce the angle.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. What are those?? ciel bleu, Saskia
