  1. Stupid question: are you trying to read the DVD in a CD drive or in a DVD drive? Ie can the laptop handle other DVD's? ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. I actually see more guys sitflying their camera suits then belly flying (okay so I don't really like FS and watch tandem videos/freestyle stuff more). They use either a regular full-wing camera suit or a double-winged sit-suit (like Deuce mentioned). For an example of camerflying in a sit suit, see the video on http://www.freestyleteamrotterdam.nl/ (dutch nationals 2002 freefly/freestyle, by Marco Tiezzie, look for Henny Wiggers in red/white/blue filming Svetlana in grey/white/red). I know I've seen vid of sitflying in a fullwing camera suit somewhere, probably of Henny too, just can't find it right now..... ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Could, maybe, but I think the reason that PD won't do it is because the canopy just can't handle it. I've looked into this about a year ago, when I had a spectre 150 and wanted to do crew. I was told the canopy behaves strangely if you put rings on it. Also you'd need reinforcement for the center cell, and at least a couple of new lines (non-cascaded centerlines and outer lines) to really make it a crew canopy, and microline isn't recommended either. All in all, for me it came down to: either keep it the way it is, for light crew (most people I know won't jump with you if you have microlines tho), or go jump a real crew canopy (hybrid or comp tri, lightning), which I did. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. Usually people don't really pass out But most people suffer from something called 'sensory overload' initially. Myself, I can't remember my first 4 exits (3 SL, 1 tandem). Sorta like: okay I'm moving to the door - hey, canopy. And with the tandem: moving to door - wow that island looks TINY from way up here, lotsa sea around. After that, I was fine. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. that was my first video game
  6. I've got a PS2 game about skysurfing, named, well, Skysurf I think. Haven't really figured out how to play yet... Some weird stuff: If you get in a flat spin (which made all watching skydivers cringe) it gives you style points When you open your chute you get a parapente-like canopy, and you have to fly through baloons for points. Alternatively you can skysurf in an open windtunnel and hit targets for points. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. How about an entry for "can pack just fine just sometimes don't want to/don't have time" or something... ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. I've bought 3 (!) pairs of freefly pants from them (one got nicked when I had 2, so I got another one). Love 'em. Lots of freeflyers here have matter 2-piece or 1-piece suits or pants. They are cut skinny, I'm not a good enough freeflyer to really compare but at least they make me go faster then say my birdman pantz, which I need cause I don't fall all that hard. I walk around in matter freefly pants all the time (even at work, heck what do they know), they feel kinda like jeans and are sturdy enough. I wouldn't like a top of the same fabric I think because the fabric is just a little bit too stiff for my taste (I also don't wear jeans blouses etc). You do have to be a bit careful washing them if they have the pin stripe, one came loose on me once (matter fixed it for free tho). All in all, great pants. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. 357:2 (1 dual out - FXC fire, 1 cutaway from spinning mal) ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. I'm a really slow faller, my Pantz make me go even slower = not good if you're doing freefly with others. Therefore I use 'm to practice HD on my own, and to freefly with others only if they happen to wear Pantz at the time too. As far as learning to freefly with these, not sure about that. Head-up flying is more difficult because you've so much drag where you really don't want it. For HD they may be training wheels, not sure if that's good or not. Anyway they don't always inflate symmetrically so transitions are a bit more tricky. That said, you *can* freefly in them, and for tracking dives and stuff they ROCK! ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Wow cool, my dragplane's in there! And Dagmar's first CReW exit, also cool... Did you get video of Marja too? Lots of girls, this year
  12. Disclaimer: I wasn't in it! (lucky me) AFAIK: Maria ended up with line burns, Roel's canopy had a little damage but the other guy's canopy (green one) had a big tear in the topskin. He landed it tho. So, no reserves (this time). ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Oookay, how soon I'm I going to live THAT one down..?? So, okay, got a whole lot to learn yet Sorry Caren.......! ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Yeehaw, This year's CF Spektacle ended yesterday. This week saw me (finally) getting my B license - doing CReW! Also I got to play in an eight way, and in a couple of 2/4/5/6-ways... Did a drag-plane too!!! Thanx @ Eric, Kees, Henny, Caren, Tom, Hans, Richard, and everybody else! Learned a lot, and had loads of fun..... http://fly.to/cfspektakel The weather this year was excellent except for the first weekend, oh well, some BASE and low hops can be fun too .... But from monday on the weather was okay (between the clouds), so we didn't have to resort to building big ways down waterslides this year ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. Don't you mean style (instead of freestyle)?? Disclaimer: I am in no way an 'oldtimer' Anyway you can find a lot of this stuff on the FAI page. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Why is it hard? There's 2 public pc's with internet (okay they cost money) right at the DZ.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. Ehm is it? I suppose most people'd jump a stiletto at 1.5 instead of a spectre, but still, 1.5 in my book is not really conservative... Definitely not for a reserve, either. But then, I've got all of 335 jumps.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. I say 2 or 3 guys (gals?) land awkwardly at the European Championships/Wold Cup last year. These guys usually come in for landing and let go of the board at like 3 feet then land. Not much room for error, I saw a couple of stumble-stumble-run-like-hell-landings because they couldn't kick the board off in time. Suppose it could be much worse tho... ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. 335 jumps, started july 2001. Can't jump nearly as much as I would like (not enuf €€€), but so far I'm averaging 14 jumps a month, which I think is not too bad, esp. since we have real seasons here . ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. I usually do that, tho I've been cautioned once against doing it (too hard) because it's hard on the cypres/reserve (?) ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. I have 2 rigs: Main: Safire 135 or Spectre 135 (WL 1.19 or 1.11) Reserve 128 (WL 1.17) Main: Lightning 126 (WL 1.19) Reserve: 175 (WL 0.86) Experience: 335 jumps. 2 reserve rides (one on a student rig, one on the 128). ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. What I did: Got a bigger (really big) PC to get my Safire to open a bit faster. This PC also has a fairly thick killine bridle. If I pack it as I packed my old PC, I might have a hard-pull. If I pack it so the bulk of material isn't at the front (elastic is tight - not too tight - because I freefly) and the folded PC is the same length as my pocket, smooooth. If I don't (or let somebody else pack and not check it myself) - the result may be a reserve ride someday. So far I have seriously thought about my reserve 2 times.... ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. USB 1.1 = no good whatsoever, not for your external HD, not for your camera. You need to either get extra firewire ports in your laptop (pcmcia card) or see if your hd has 2 (works with my own external hd, a maxtor 200 gb 7200 rpm usb2.0/firewire disk). If your external hd has usb2.0 too (like mine does but most don't) you can get a pcmcia usb2 card instead of course. Or you can dump video on your laptop's own hd then disconnect camera and so on..... Not really doable unless you've got a very large internal hd and you can also dump most of whatever is on it NOW to your external hd to make room....... ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Mmmm come to think of it, I've heard someone mention that
  25. I've got one (Z1), but I get claustophobic in helmets like that.... Also it limits my peripheral sight too much for my taste, unless I take the face shield off and wear goggles anyway. But then I might as well wear my freefly helmet.... I can't really talk with the fullface on (exit counts and stuff) but that hasn't been a problem so far. Sometimes when I do CRW we wear Z1's minus shields but with radios in them. Works okay. It's a little bit warmer for your chin/mouth, or I just wear a high collar or something, works too... Definitely try them on, for size and comfort, even if you're not allowed to jump it... ciel bleu, Saskia
