  1. Or worse, someone with 200 jumps. For me it's the other way round, the big camera wings I occasionally jump are easy compared to even the Classic, I think I've learned a lot by flying my wingsuits that makes flying camera wings easier and safer
  2. Hi, Some reserved can be used as mains but they need to have the bridle attachment point installed. Besides Ravens and the reserves some manufacturers have set up for demo jumping, I don't know any reserves used as mains. Just don't do the opposite
  3. His name must be superman as that just sounds like a weeks worth of shoulder pain. It would be awesome to do that though - I am just to lazy to fight the burn! Hmm so far I've never hurt my arms/shoulders at all after or during a jump. And I'm in pretty bad physical shape too... Don't know why it bothers some people, are you guys flying tensed up so much or something? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong..? I do get the occasional cramping up of my toes ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. That is just sick. What's your height/weight, if you don't mind me asking? 60 kg, 1.72 m. I think I've got about 15 jumps on the S3 now. Usually I fly 50 mph in a Classic/Classic2/Skyflyer/S3. With the MTR-1 (at like 15 BM jumps total) I went 42 mph without trouble... I really wanna try a MTR-2!! However my BMI has flown a Skyflyer at 30-something kpm for about the entire jump! ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. LOL wanna go jump? My problem just got a bit worse I just downloaded a jump that was still on my Neptune from last December: went 35 mph for a bit in my S3 (solo, and no stalling etc)
  6. The guy who made em is Craig Buxton. The movies play in Quicktime Pro. Some small clips here: http://www.theworldteam.com/news/0126.htm For some of the full movies and the compilation movie, wait for your WT2004 DVD ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Sneak preview: On the WT website in the news section there are a few bits of the animations, greatly compressed and only the ones that play as movies. The Thailand WT2004 DVD however is finished and worldwide shipping has just started. On the DVD is a movie compiled of some of those animations, and if you put the DVD in your PC I put some of the original VR files (Quicktime) on it as well (couldn't put them all on there, as the DVD was completely FULL ). No idea if this DVD will be for sale though, otherwise ask somebody who was on the team. ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Nope.... First at 50 jumps, total so far 4 in 650 plus 2 intentionals too (as soon as I get over the 1/100 ratio again ... ) ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. It can spin up. You can hit your head on exit. It's great fun though! http://www.12000ft.com/video/12.html ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. May I add kudos to the jumpmaster for spotting from this C-47 so that the main and freebag landed right beside the club-bar. Well done Oortje! True. He was fairly taken with himself too Henny saw the main floating by: "Hey that's my canopy!" Not: "How's Saskia" ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. When I started jumping I had contacts (have done Lasik now). I had astygmatism pretty bad too. I found that my soft contact lenses would start to stick to my eye (and seldom in the right position of course ) if my goggles didn't fit EXACTLY right and even a little air got through. I got a pair of mini flex Z goggles and really cranked 'm down. Problem solved! ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Maybe a tandem first is a good idea, but I have the same mentality as you: I wanna do it myself! And I did, SL progression. I have no idea if I could've handled the faster pace of AFF or not, I didn't have the money for it so I never tried. But I'm not sorry I didn't pay big bucks for a tandem. After 3 SL jumps I did do 2 tandems because there was a jump-in on a beach for a party and obviously I couldn't go otherwise (or I could've landed with the plane, NOT!) so I got 2 cheap tandem jumps to fill up the plane. I think these did help later on in freefall a bit maybe... Here they do not offer working tandems though, only "fun rides". Very fun, my first tandem, with a fairly heavy guy for a TM, we still landed backwards on the beach!! Whoops... But I loved the satisfaction of having jumped all by myself the first time
  13. On our DZ quite a few people can swoop a Lightning. Also there are 2 that can and do take their lightnings to terminal regurlarly. Both are big (176 sqft), I think both are hybrids (F111+ZP) and both have very large sliders and a bag. I tried taking a ZP 143 w/spider (bagged) to terminal (up to 9 secs out the door) a couple of times, cause I flunked the exits. The 9th time really screwed up my back and neck I recommend you do not do that Although I did learn to perform great hopnpop exits from the experience The Lightning 126 (ZP) I used to have could turn on a dime though, I loved to fly it
  14. Just got a fishy email myself. I sell (and sometimes buy) quite a lot of skydiving stuff over the 'net (thus far: europe, usa and asia). I only accept credit card or pay-pall (or cash if it is workable). So far, every sale has worked out for both parties. I replied to this fishy mail saying I require credit card payment, all quiet now ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. LOL I got just the opposite problem, with my 60 kg it's hard enough flying with others (usually 80-100 kg, usually flying GTi's) in my Classic2 (I get too much lift but not enough forward speed so I'm diving most of the time), but my S3 makes it mucho harder (more wing to collapse).... Maybe I should start wearing weights Or get more people to buy bigger wings
  16. Infrared: http://www.xlstar.com/hmandel/skydive/d70remote.htm Harbotronics: http://www.harbortronics.com/ Pic of Harbotronics mod: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=25163; ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. My 2 biggest issues with the 300D (digi rebel) were the lack of speed and the lack of spot-metering. Does the 350D (digi rebel xt) have spot-metering? ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Not "suddenly" but I usually do end up above the tandems because I mostly do only wingsuit jumps anymore... But even so, I don't see the big deal. If for some reason i do end up at their level, I go for the big ass landing field instead of for the peas where I know the tandem is gonna land. Usually I can manage to land either after or before the tandems though. I fly a conservative left-hand pattern (left hand is mandatory at our DZ), don't do s-turns or stuff like that, and I still get comments (to put it nicely) from swoopers (well usually from the same guy) that I'm ruining their swoop. Well tough, I'm very predictable in my pattern, I just fly a big ass spectre 135 () so if somebody comes from above and usually from behind me (say AFF I), tough luck if you can't swoop. And we got this very big landing area too so there's PLENTY of room. I've been chewed out a couple times now by the same guy who just says I don't get it. Maybe I don't, but if you want to swoop, I say don't do AFF and then complain that I take too long to get down or whatever the heck his problem is (he never really says, just walks away angry), go jump out at 5k all on your own so we don't end up on level at 800 ft every now and then... Oh well, rant over ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. You're right about the D100 needing the extra grip (except there's at least one D100 with a remote-mod not sure if there's anyone modding them now) but the D70 doesn't even HAVE the option of the extra grip. It's either buying the infrared remote and make a remote out of that (I'm jumping one of those, it slows the camera down a bit and doesn't look very nice but it's cheap and it works) or get Harbotronics to do their mod on it, real nice but more expensive than the infrared option and it voids the warranty. I switched from Canon to Nikon for the D70 But I didn't have the right (fixed wide angle) lenses for Canon. If you have got the right lenses for a Nikon, $$$$$$ if you switch ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. The D20 is seriously cool But what's wrong with a D70? ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Peter, your link acts funny (Firefox sends me to Microsoft.com?! ) so here's Kevin, take two: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1474381;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Well over here we made 80440 jumps in 2004, says our version of the USPA
  23. Yep got one of those as well: a guy was flying by me (with camera) and his GF (with camera) so he decided to fly by a little bit closer. He flew across the (hot) peas, it was a hot day with no wind. From that lift he got a little bit further than planned and because he had turned a bit to the left, when he slid in on his butt, he came to a stop against a small fence pole and then watched his chute pass over his head and land on the small wind indicator pole If he'd been a couple feet to the right he'd have had the whole field to land in... He had to pull the pole from the ground to get his chute loose... The other 2 are a student who decided to land in the one place (besides the hangar LOL) you shouldn't at our airfield... Made a stand-up landing too! ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. Guys, just read the first post about this before speculating... It was NOT a line over on the main: he flipped himself upside down in his risers for the tandem video and then got stuck. The reason he swears in english is because he's american. Jump was in Puerto Rico. ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. I'd love that too. ciel bleu, Saskia
