Ask your instructors! They know you and know how you fly. Your wingload would be closer to 1.2 (adding 30 lbs for gear) which is not low for a newbie. You may or may not be alright on it, let your instructor make that call. Whatever you do don't go straight from bigger student canopies to this one, downsize slowly and maybe you'll not even WANT to go that small. ciel bleu, Saskia

Can anyone be really nice and send me like 1 or 2 boxes of Sudafed? The little round red tablets. I'm very allergic to the over-the-counter stuff we have here and I'm all out of Sudafed. If I want to order over the 'net I have to order 100 dollars worth Pretty please?? I can refund you with paypall or if you send me enough and want one I can send you a Dutch Swooping Tour DVD (PAL only though, it'll play on your computer).... Pleeaase? ciel bleu, Saskia

If you mount a pro-track or neptune on your head the readings are always off a bit because you move your head around. For more accurate readings mount it on your hip (but then the beeper won't do you much good anymore). Either that or you need some serious work on your tracking ciel bleu, Saskia

I'd ask that in the German forum, they should have a lot of jumpers with those. ciel bleu, Saskia

And BASE and CRW canopies aren't 7cells?? Newer design canopies tend to open softer then older design ones (except for the above 2 kinds of course), 7 and 9 cells. And it depends on packing, pilot chute etc. My first couple of jumps on my brand new spectre 150 I had ~1000ft openings, after a while it began to open slightly faster which I liked better. My current canopy a spectre 135 opens just right for camera work, wingsuit and low hopnpops too

I've got both (well 3 actually). I've jumped a Spectre 190, Tri 175, hybrid Tri 160, hybrid Tri 150, Spectre 150, Spectre 135, Tri 135, hybrid Tri 120. I still own the last 3. What can I say, I like 7 cells I don't know about the bigger chutes, doesn't make much difference for me, but from the 135 down the Tri seems to fly zippier then the Spectre even though it is square and the Spectre is tapered. The spectre is trimmed steeper which is why I think the zippiness comes from on a Tri because it swings you around more then the Spectre does. I like both. Got an occasional harder opening on a Tri and the occasional too-soft opening on a Spectre. The Tri is cheaper 2nd hand generally speaking because it is not a PD chute. I really don't like the stock colors. I like the hybrid (CRW) option. It is a fine chute as is the Spectre. If you liked the Tri you'll like the Spectre!

I resent that I don't think it is that new a trend, for the moment the 2 different designs seem to be co-existing nicely. Loic's suit type isn't that much newer then the BirdMan type suits is it? But if it's wing you want, get a Sugarglider (I doubt if I'd ever get back to the ground wearing one of those ) I usually want less wing, so doing FS in my FF suit can be a problem because I'm relatively lightweight. The big guys can wear their FF suits please when jumping with me ciel bleu, Saskia

What can we do about Skyride?

True, but then the "we're all in this together" line doesn't apply anymore so I'd get in trouble LOL ciel bleu, Saskia -

Not THINK. KNOW. We tried contacting them (duh), but NO RESPONSE. Yeah, great people! I've heard the "we are all in this together" cr*p before it DOES NOT give you the right to use pictures without permission. ciel bleu, Saskia -
You've got a huge burble beneath your chest so a chestmount alti is not recommended. However one of our bird flyers uses one for all her jumps, sitfly, birdman, whatnot. It seems to work for her. I just glance at the ground every now and then and don't use my alti when i'm flying with grippers. I do have a beeper (or 2 depending on whether I'm flying camera). If I really want to check my alti I have to let go of the grippers for a moment... ciel bleu, Saskia

Uhuh. Not having to pay for pictures: saves money. Not having to pay for website design: saves money. I think I like your "logic". Cool now I know how to get more money too! And I'll make sure to rip off websites from overseas so they won't be as quick to take legal steps ciel bleu, Saskia -
Yes that's why they changed the progression here from "dummies then c&p" to "dummies then 5000ft/10 secs", after what the military had been doing for a while already. The clear&pull comes later in the progression this way. So far, results are good
-
You probably started with a RIPCORD. Pull-out doesn't mean you pull out the ripcord It means you pull out the PIN yourself and then let the pilotchute do the rest. ciel bleu, Saskia

Maybe you can get a camera guy to do it for the ticket, maybe not. Remember that they may be losing money that way because they're missing out on paid tandem videos etc. I don't think it's fair to assume they should do it for just the ticket. If they do, cool, but not everyone does. That said, I'd do it ciel bleu, Saskia

I did that for 2 jumps on hybrid Triathlons 160&150 (WL on the 150 1:1). Openings this way were sloooooow (The 160 had a slider hangup for 3k!). ciel bleu, Saskia
-
I doubt that, since a lot of people use spectres for wingsuit jumps and are going forward either a lot or a little bit and I've never heard or experienced the rocking doing BM, nor on regular jumps with my spectre 135. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
Huh. All that for a tandem? Some of the stuff you mention is not judgeable by you anyway. And some of it isn't quite right either. I'd just ask around here about where to go, if you're not sure. ciel bleu, Saskia

Mine did this as well when it was still new. After a while (50 jumps or so, don't know) the openings became more smooth. Now this was my first ZP canopy, in a rig where it fit in snug, and I was learning to pack ZP here too (although most of the first 100 jumps on this canopy I had it packed for me). Also, I lengthened the brake lines somewhere around the same number of jumps the openings became better, too. So no one-fix but it DID stop. ciel bleu, Saskia

Direct bag with flexpin. Never seen any other method used here, besides the choice of either 2 thinner flexpins or one thicker flexpin. ciel bleu, Saskia

The speed reading is affected by pressure change. For instance you can usually spot when a pro-track or neptune was in/on your helmet by looking at the graph in jump-track/paralog because the graph has a lot of tiny spikes from you moving your head. An AAD is affected by changes in pressure as well, so if you change positions (IE HD to sit) it'll read inaccurately for a bit. I'd look at the graphs to see if there're aren't any weird spikes to see if the speed is accurate. Also I'm not sure if the Vigil shows mph or kmh? A max speed of 254 WHAT? The Neptune standard speed readings are average speeds over 1000 ft (I think, and with the software the field reps have you can change this), so you can't compare the two anyway. ciel bleu, Saskia
-
The descent rate is faster yes, but no way does the ZP EXE flair better than a Pilot. ciel bleu, Saskia

Round canopies are still manufactured, at least here in the US. And in the US a rigger is certifying a canopy as airworthy every time he/she repacks it. Sparky Well yeah so do our riggers of course, only the whole rig needs to have the yearcheck, so if you change anything (risers, cypres, pilotchute, anything except for the main) you need to have the check redone. As far as the pilot rigs, I think they really like the ones they have which apperantly are not made anymore (don't know the details, something about how the rigs fit and they take only that type of round) ciel bleu, Saskia
