I'm 150 lbs geared up, learned on Manta 288 and Skymaster 280/230. No problem, even landed a manta once without flaring (not recommended ). I did spend a lot of time hanging in full glide against the wind, because I was allowed to jump at a certain higher wind level after a number of jumps. I could jump but not having the room to play is not that much fun as being able to do a lot of turns. But I wanted to jump those days anyway. Sometimes I got blown backwards too at altitude but I never landed backwards and I always landed on the dz (unless you count the one time I was told to "wait five secs then jump" how the %^& was I supposed to know CF guys got out so early, learned to spot for myself pretty soon after that! ). ciel bleu, Saskia

He's talking digital, all Canon's DSLR's have a remote. For cheap, find a 300D, after that, better camera's so more expensive: 350D, 10D, 20D, then the pro camera's. There's also 2 older camera's the D30 and D60. For fast power up, get a 10D/20D. ciel bleu, Saskia

Hi Ori, Do a search on this forum about the error 99 thing, it's been discussed here a number of times before. Don't know much about the 350D. If you want a camera without error 99 wait a bit for the Nikon D70s ciel bleu, Saskia -

If you can't get the hardware (Pro-Track cable) to work on a Mac the software will do you no good on it's own ciel bleu, Saskia

I've got them both and like them both. The Spectre opens nicer, the Tri flies nicer (flatter in full glide so without doing anything you'll fly further), both land ok. It's personal really, which one you'll like best. The spectre will probably have a greater resale value. But jump 'em both see which one you like best. ciel bleu, Saskia

Not sure what you're asking. First, I don't know anybody with 10GB RAM and second, why would the file be in memory? You dump it on a HD, then work with it. The rendering and stuff will go faster with a fair amount of RAM (not too much it will slow things down a bit again!) and a decent video card may help as well. ciel bleu, Saskia

Held just over the border in Stadtlohn, Germany, was a big success! The nice weather and the caravan allowed us to jump the entire competition (6 rounds + final round) in half a day! Video here: http://www.12000ft.com/video/16.html Some pics (more will be on my website later) here: http://www.skydive-stadtlohn.de/photo-gallery.htm ciel bleu, Saskia

No such thing as a Techno 120, think you mean 128. Very good reserve. The BT is an old elliptical canopy, with french openings (ie hard) and french steering (ie very very responsive). The container will hold a 150 (tight), a 135 and a 120. Americans don't like reversed risers, Europeans do. It's a european rig, the risers are ok. You can change them if you want but if they are in good condition you don't need to. I've got an Atom 00 from '95, only thing I did was add a flap to protect the reserve a bit better ("crew flap"), cheap mod and done a lot here. ciel bleu, Saskia

Deaf guys: Canopy control signalling without radios?
dragon2 replied to mdrejhon's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
On my DZ we don't use radio's or other aids. I know some dz's here use a radio or somebody with batons. But if the landing area is not that hard, I don't see why anybody should need that. I managed to land on the DZ and in the right direction for the first 50 jumps or so anyway And i've got the sense of direction of a Dodo.... LOL ciel bleu, Saskia -
The fps drops when the buffer is full if writing the image from the buffer to the card takes longer than writing the pic to the buffer. This depending on which camera and which card you use is usually the case. With the D70 and a Sandisk II card the fps drops a little bit but not that much after the buffer is full. If you use a real slow card with the D70 the fps drop is much more noticeable. ciel bleu, Saskia

Watch out with 1.8 lenses, some of them are really big so not great for skydiving. ciel bleu, Saskia

Riiight... Thanx a***hole for digging up this old thread My 150th wingsuit jump.... This is my home DZ and I also had absolutely no clue whatsoever where we were, so not entirely your fault First jump with my new (2nd hand though) 20 mm lens on my D70 I managed little in the way of birdman pics.... This is what pics I did get: ciel bleu, Saskia -
You can get a dvd burner for my laptop for 25 euro? LOL Nah the svcd's are for around the dz (they get damaged or disappear anyway). Cheaper this way! ciel bleu, Saskia
