  1. I use www.dpreview.com (for digital photo camera's). If you want to know if a specific camera is okay for skydiving you can ask in the camera forum. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. I usually burn svcd cd-r's. I think I can put about 20 mins of video on one. This is just for quick viewing with good quality, backup is either mini dv tape or dvd. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. The software on the pro-track itself will not remember the details of more then 10 jumps. This is a hardware memory limit. The software on your computer will store all the data the jump-track offers it (ie full profile for the last 10 jumps and less data for the rest). And remember all that, of course. So you could have a full profile for jump 1-15 then a couple jumps no speed graph then another 10 jumps with graph etc. The Neptune with Paralog will do exactly the same only it does not have a 10 jump limit perse but a full memory limit (so you can store more low hopnpop jumps then full altitude wingsuit jumps). I tend to always have my laptop with me I just don't download all the neptune data, just special jumps. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. USA: "Ready, Set, Go!" Poland: "Ready, Set, Go!"; "In, Out!" Uruguay: "Ready, Set, Go!"; "Listos, Adentro, ¡Afuera!"; "Adentro, ¡Afuera!" Netherlands: "Ready, Set, Go!" (very original ) ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Probably not moisture, I think the chip moves about in freefall. Not a problem you can solve Also one thing is a hassle, which AFAIK they haven't fixed yet: in freefall even if you turn the position sensor off, every photo goes every which way, so you have to turn most photo's around. Just a bug, but annoying because these are big files so I can't turn them around quickly on my laptop. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Henny Wiggers used one at the World Team Thailand 2004 record jumps. The camera mostly kinda sucked in the air. Except for a few awesome pics when the camera worked as it should. See http://www.parashoot.nl. Do a search, I think I detailed the probs somewhere before. Norman's camera seems to have less problems but also has the milky layer problem sometimes. Henny ended up returning the camera (and the 2nd one too). ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Shouldn't is have a little slack in the brakelines in max frontrisers? ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. I did take of 3 inches off the steering lines of my Safire after putting the canopy on my tiny risers. This was because otherwise the tail wouldn't start deflecting before I had my hands at chest-hight, which bugged me. I could still land it ok but didn't like the big chunk of "nothing" I had. So I shortened them, turned out a bit too much because after that the tail didn't have much slack in a max frontriser dive anymore so I think 2 inches would've been better. Shortening the lines wasn't a necessity although I really liked flying it better with the shorter lines. The Safire has really long brake lines to start with, not like PD canopies. ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. I jump teeny tiny risers, no clue how short I'd have to measure them. But Parachutes de France risers are already shortish and I have 2" shorter. Also have a pair of Thomas Sports risers that short. I love them. anytime I'm jumping someone else's rig I have to try hard to get to the slider (and I HAVE to too since usually I jump triple risers). Hate that. Don't notice any difference in flight, although I suppose it might have some effect, as does my cheststrap that I always wear real tight. Love the short risers, I take the (maybe) slight lessening of the performance over spending a lot of time dealing with the slider. But I'm no swooper... ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. What tutorial book are you using? I just got the program and haven't gotten a chance to really take a look at it. It doesn't appear to be one of those programs that you can just figure out on your own. (without a book) It's called Revolutionary After Effects 5.5 Enhancing Digital Video, book plus cd. It's for 5.5 and I've got 6.5 but so far it works and there wasn't any other available untill later this year. It's a cool book actually, usually I like the Academic Service stuff but this one reads much better. I don't very often get a book for programs either but I didn't know where to start with this one... ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. Sjeesh.... It's an ok plane ya know Not everybody is lucky enough to jump out of Otters. In fact, we don't have any in this country! The 207 is still bigger than other planes we regularly use (206, 182, 172). OK I prefer our Caravan too because it's easier to float and stuff. But smaller planes make a nice change of pace. Relax and go jump! ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. Just got to chapter 3 of the tutorial book So far I've produced a stunning movieclip of a family floating in front of a pyramid landscape ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. There's one guy at our DZ something like that happened to: He was visiting another DZ, didn't bring his rig. He was allowed to jump a staff rig there, the owner of which had left it in the hangar but was not present. Opening took a loooong time! Turned out the canopy had just been fieldpacked and HAD BEEN LEFT DAISY-CHAINED! It did LOOK jumpable from the outside though, and luckily the daisy chain was not closed by the slider. So the canopy actually opened! I've also been warned not to leave say rapidelinks untightened on my main or pilotchute and leave the canopy like that for a while. If it LOOKS ok, you may assume it IS. If you get your rig back after a repack from our loft you get it field-packed and roughly closed with a pullup cord, easy to spot. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. A premature deployment at 2,500ft (as reported) is a hazard to other jumpers too. A deployment at 2,500 ft. (reported as 2090) in not considered premature by most standards. Why would the fact that it was deployed by an AAD change that? Sparky I think he means a premature AAD/reserve opening? ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. YOU may not have heard anything before, but this tunnel has been talked about for a looong time already (albeit in Dutch). Not saying they are or are not going to make it, just that this is not a recent thing. ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. Yeah my spectre's were like that. No problem on my Safire though, even had to shorten the steering lines on that one because I have ultra short risers. When Icarus Team Extreme came over to our DZ for seminars and stuff last year first thing they did was video the swoops, then they freeze-framed the vids during the turn so you could see that almost all the canopies were in slight brakes so they had their brakes set too short, this included Xaos, Velocity etc too. ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. LOL I bought a GoFast shirt when I had only a small amount of jumps, the one with the flames and the headdown flyer. " You can't even freefly yet!!!! " ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Unless it's a reply to a post asking for like an email address or something you want to keep private. Then you let the rest know the poster has the email address (olr whatever) already... No I'm not guilty of posting PM's sent (but guilty of a bunch of other stuff so... ) ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. NEVER move if someone is flying your way. They can't anticipate if you're going to move left or right or what. You can get DOWN though if you have to. Don't get UP if you're sitting down already, either. A thing that happened to a camera flying friend of mine: he swooped a (whuffo) camera guy that was sitting on his haunches, flying over his head with open legs. The camera guy followed him with the camera, thereby just about standing up to keep him in frame. Guess where the camera hit LOL If it's a STUDENT coming my way, yeah I'll move. Students are not going fast anyway. But I don't move for an experienced jumper, that jumper is the one to get out of the way if you're stationary. I did get bowled over once by an experienced jumper with camera-fixation though No "sorry" or nothing ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. 49 to go ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. Why get a reserve smaller then anything you've ever flown before? And if you do, why pick a Tempo ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Yeah I think the active ingredient pseudoephedrine can be used for some drug or another.... Also you can't use this stuff if you're competing: Stimulants: Stimulants are usually only tested for in competition. Some sports do however test for stimulants out-of-competition. This class includes substances such as amphetamines, caffeine (prohibited in large concentrations) and a number of the active ingredients in cold and flu preparations (ie. pseudoephedrine). Side effects include increased heart beat and can have an impact on the body’s natural ability to regulate its temperature. However it WORKS! ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. If anyone wants one send me a mail (birdbabe at gmail.com), I've got 50 invites left... ciel bleu, Saskia
  24. What is the reserve in that rig? You didn't mention that. ciel bleu, Saskia
  25. You do? I've never heard of that. Ehm, WHY? ciel bleu, Saskia
