If you can knock some sense in a jumper like that, I'd be amazed. So far I know DGITs to: turn so low the canopy lands first and of course right in front of me, land out a lot, end up in intensive care, ruining rigs without ending up in intensive care, pulling below a formation (!!) when low, getting totally lost on a tracking dive, land out some more for no reason, break some more bones, open BASE canopy while jumping headdown from 60m (

Unfortunately that's often true ciel bleu, Saskia

Should be able to... if the jump run is consistent. Only been to that DZ twice, but I don't think I've ever seen such inconsistent jump runs and bad spots. People landed off on just about every load I saw. Don't know why it happens, but I've never seen so many off landings anywhere else... Hmm.... Sounds like a good reason for at least SOMEONE to learn how to spot Even if you have to learn it on the 'net ciel bleu, Saskia

I like it... Then again I'm partial to geckos lol http://www.avenfoto.com/gallery/index.php?page=image-detail&album=11&image=27 Tip: do NOT rely on the disabled right mouse click to prevent people downloading your images (Printscreen is the simplest way of avoiding your "protection" and requires no special skills/software whatsoever), watermarking them and putting a visible logo on them offers much better protection. ciel bleu, Saskia

You should be able to tell the jumprun direction when you're on the ground. You know your landing direction when you're on the ground right? At most dz's the jumprun is against the ground wind direction or against the upper wind direction, depending on strength. Some dz's have a fixed jumprun direction due to hazards (ie, Empuria always drops inland), some drop perpendicular with the wind (always or sometimes) to give everybode a chance to make it back. Ask which it (usually) is for your DZ then get an instructor to help you figure out jumprun from on the ground. If you have a big areal photo point it out on there and try to find landmarks in relation to the jumprun direction, ie, jumprun today is along the runway or is north-south same as the highway further away or is from the hangar to that big farm, etc. Is the landing zone close to where you pack, ie can you see the plane dropping usually? That also helps to see if you were right ciel bleu, Saskia

No, no market for that here (yet?). I do like debriefing straight from the camera (HDMI or RGB) on the large plasma tv we have in the bar ciel bleu, Saskia

Agreed. Totally happy with mine too

Um you don't WAN'T image stabilisation... Substandard camera, yeah... ciel bleu, Saskia

I know it can be done, I walked on to my dz a few yrs back and there was a heck of a lot of noise and screeming going on at minifest, turned out a reported was doing a tandem and the screeming was live on radio ciel bleu, Saskia

Sabre2, safire2, pilot, fusion, spectre, triathlon all come to mind. A max wl of 1.2 is advised for that jumpnumber so a minimum of 170 sqft should work for the 80 kg guys, maybe as small as a 150sqft for 70kg but 170sqft would be better for those too probably. ciel bleu, Saskia

LOL what he said. ciel bleu, Saskia

Totally different cameras. Sidemount vs topmount, tape vs flash. How are you editing, realtime vs computer? Want to firewire stuff from/to other cameras? Always bring a laptop to the dz? If you are not editing at all or buring dvds using the composite cable, doesn't matter which camera, if you use a computer for editing it matters a LOT. If you freefly the OIS in the CX7 may or may not act up. At the moment the HC5 is a cool camera to get did you consider that one? For sidemount I'd get the PC1000 provided you get a good one, for topmount I have a HC5 myself and love it, the CX7/6 is also fine but may need more effort and/or more financial investment to get the workflow to your liking. Don't forget you'll want a HDV lens for a HDV camera and if you now use a cam-eye you'll want a new hype-eye or similar for the CX7. ciel bleu, Saskia

Blades and the bigger inflatables are pretty expensive. We often use beach balls to mark the course, if you can get them in nice bright colors, they can be found pretty cheap. We had them color-coded for the accuracy zones

Lanc = tape, so there is no flash based cam with lanc. ciel bleu, Saskia

That may allow you to be third user in this forum to get a 5050 knocked off a CX7 . I'd go with the Century .55x, which is same size as your diamond, or possibly a Century .3x. The 5050 will add length to your setup, and it fans out from the camera, asking to get caught by a riser. Not if you topmount it ciel bleu, Saskia

Yeah, my old TRV25 is about the same size as a CX7. Slightly heavier though. ciel bleu, Saskia

I just looked down a page or two this camera has been talked about before. As for what you should buy, duh, sony ciel bleu, Saskia

It's not a sony. It's a canon. Most canon video cameras don't hold up too well to skydiving. It's not a sony. Did you try a search? ciel bleu, Saskia

For tandems, no way. But seen cameras like this used for debriefing AFF etc type jumps, works fine for that. ciel bleu, Saskia

Besides the photos already mentioned, take a look at these vids: http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/catid,56/id,91/ http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/catid,48/id,9/ http://www.paracentrumteuge.nl/component/option,com_weblinks/task,view/catid,48/id,24/ ciel bleu, Saskia

Good luck with that Archos, it's got a harddrive Unless you got the 4GB flash based version, then you're good to go. ciel bleu, Saskia

There's none that is as small AFAIK, but you should not be sidemounting that big (long) camera anyway IMO. These cameras should be topmounted ONLY for safety's sake, I really do not like the look of that long (and fairly wide whatever other people say) box. When you topmount it you can easily put the nice lens on it it deserves. This is stupid IMO, sidemounting a long camera then putting on a crap lens bringing the quality of this very nice cam waaaay down so it's "low profile" when the entire helmet is now anything but Mines topmount at the moment for that very reason. And i wouldnt put a shit lens on it which was why i asked the question in the first place. But as far as side mount.... If the box is the same size as my pc 105 with lens except for the 12cm extra length why should they only be top mounted? will that extra few cm make as big a difference as you say? and how?...Im guessing just a little more to snag? Not taking the piss serious question

He's somewhat right though, if you shoot through the same crap lens on both, there IS no difference I sometimes debrief straight from my HC5 (w/raynox .3 ) onto a big plasma tv screen, using either a HDMI or RGB cable, oh boy, don't tell me it doesn't make a difference
