  1. Release wings, give thumbs up to camera, turn off camera, turn on heading if I need to (using back risers), stow slider, pop brakes. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. Do you have the black sony .6? If so, it is very wide, wider than say a hama .45 so buying a .5 may not be what you want, I'd try to borrow one first and compare. Not sure about the silver version of the sony .6 but may be similar. Do you really need a single element lens? For topmount i'd buy a raynox .5 or .3 HD lens right now, as those are very good lenses, they aren't very expensive, they can be used on a future HD camera and they can be zoomed (so the .3 is probably perfect for you zoomed in a bit). For sidemount I'd go with a single element lens. ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. If you've read about in this forum a bit you would have known that a) virtually everybody jumps a canon or a nikon DSLR (might there be a reason for that?) and b) image stabilisation is usually a bad idea for freefall and c) you do not want to jump a 18-70mm lens. Edit: even if you do not use it for jumping, IS in the body is a bad idea you want IS in the lenses (like Canon and Nikon have) if you need IS at all. ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. That's NTSC, he needs PAL. ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. I don't have a pro-track anymore but used to have to do this regularly since the pro-track doesn't log hop'n'pops, you need to update the total jump number and total freefall time (if you want). ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. It's possible, and it's very stupid, and yes you can get fucked up (even fatally) quite easily. Just land with the cutaway main/freebag or see where it's at if you can't, much safer. ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. Um tried a look around this forum yet..? F.i. take a look at the first page, 2/3 of the way down... ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. Right now there's a camera that does it the other way round: 60 fps photos so movie + pics in one It's not a very good camera for either, a DSLR + HDV camera are better, but it's still pretty cool imo http://www.dpreview.com/news/0801/08010601casiof1.asp ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. The first jump I made at one of our other DZ's I landed in the student area. I had 350 jumps or so but wasn't comfy in between all the hotrods and landing in a to my view not so big landing area. Now this student landing area requires someone to come get you, now I knew there was a student on the same load landing there too so I didn't make someone come over just for me. Still got yelled at, but didn't care ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Both the hop'n'pop and someone overtaking (and then crossing) me on final are in the saturday daily vid, if you hadn't already seen it I know which I found more dangerous ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. True that, since we are probable never going to see the source code for the vigil 1, we can't be sure if the vigil can even detect a non-standard situation like this and "decides" to fire or if it only reads the "speed" + "altitude" and thinks it is in freefall really low so it should fire. Amounts to the same thing really though... ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. I spent a lot of time photographing and filming on the ground before I was allowed to skydive with a camera (used to be you needed a C license which I didn't have yet, now though it's B + some other stuff). I then did my first 80 camera jumps filming crw when had about 300 jumps, sometimes paying my own slot sometimes not, then a couple hundred belly fly camera jumps, mostly 4way but also solos, 8ways etc, usually got my slot covered for those and learned TONS doing these, after that I was allowed to do freebee tandem videos (family of staff, charity events etc) I did 20 or 30 of those (got my slot covered but now had to -quickly- produce an edited dvd+ a cd of stills) then because those videos were ok I got asked to fill in sometimes when no one else was available and actually got paid for the first time, this year I got in the tandem video rotation. I really cannot imagine being able to consistently produce a decent tandem video with less than a few hundred camera jumps beforehand, also you usually need to jump stills too and need to be able to edit the video too, we hand them out before they leave so 10-20 minutes is all you've got. ciel bleu, Saskia
  13. Dunno, but please don't crosspost. ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. Why didn't the other AADs on board the plane fire? Because pressurising is not the same as a fall of more than 35 m/s in a way you'd normally see. In this case the cypres 1 acts like this: hey this is weird, maybe I'm malfunctioning, get me to airtec i'm not turning on anymore until you do (very nice if you NEED that aad to work in the near future). Cypres 2 and Argus: hey this is weird, maybe I'm malfuctioning, I'll turn myself off for this jump and we'll see how the self-check goes when i'm turned on again (so an unusable AAD for that one jump). Vigil 1: hey this is weird, maybe I need to save someone, so I'll fire just in case (maybe this helps maybe it doesn't, you'll need a repack in any case). ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. I'd not even buy the kit lens but get a 15mm fixed lens, those are better quality, faster (f2.8) and they WORK ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. We had one at our DZ but we sold it (or traded it I think) because it didn't quite fit in with the rest (EZ, Sigma, Icarus); it was flaoaoaoaoaoty. If I saw the A2 opening when filming a tandem, I knew I was going to be in the landing area a while waiting for my tandem to land, that thing takes it's own sweet time getting down ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. I jump my big camera helmet for wingsuiting sometimes, including the ringsite (non-removable and mounted with metal popnails) if I want to take stills. I do have hookknives and a helmet cutaway though, 2 things I'm missing on this video and 2 things that should be MANDATORY IMO. He should have either cut the line or cutaway the helmet before cutting away his canopy, as this situation could've resulted in a more permanent horseshoe and/or neck injuries, he was real lucky the helmet came off the way it did. Camera flying is not easy when things go to sh*t, you need the extra altitude/time sometimes (esp. with a wingsuit which may further complicate things), being properly prepared for trouble gear-wise (helmet cutaway, hookknive, suitable canopy, etc) is the least you should do. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. safire/fusion/vengeance, at 1.4-ish ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. Ignorant question here, but if the jumper is dangerously reackless and will not improve their ways after being talked to at length etc. can't their jumping permit just be suspended or even revoked? ETA that I'm talking about serious infractions here. Baksteen brings up a pretty good questions: Under what circumstances, if possible at all, can you get your license revoked? He can read about that in the Dutch version of the SIM. We have a sanction committee (is that the right translation..?) http://www.parachute.nl/sac.html that has the authority to keep someone from skydiving for a period of time but only for serious infractions and only after other (lighter) sanctions didn't work. AFAIK you could always go to another country (not that hard here) and get licensed and jump there though... ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. Seller closed the auction, says she made an inadvertent mistake, thanks everyone who pointed this out and says she will take the rig to the police. ciel bleu, Saskia
  21. I emailed the DZ at Grefrath as I think that's the closest DZ. ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. None of those. Try a search on this forum Also please take a look at the minimum jump number that is advised, read the FAQ. ciel bleu, Saskia
  23. Well, I guess that depends on your flying skills... Um no. ciel bleu, Saskia
