Nice timing with the posting of this video... Amazing footage! Especialy the canopy/wingsuit relative work stuff! http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3243 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

What kind of main are you jumping? ---again out of a plane
mccordia replied to Calvin19's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Just out of curiousity? Anyone ever jumped his current wingsuit with a round? (aside from the 'orginal birdman') JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
Aside from the technical advancements, one thing I also quite like about wingsuit flying is that its one of the last 'honest' freefall diciplines where you can only practice in actual skydives. The only way to learn is to 'fly' out of a plane (or off a cliff). Unlike RW/Freefly, where windtunnels are becoming (or already are) the number one training-tool. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Aks your swim-teacher if you can bring your wingsuit JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

It wil only take one wingsuiter going through a canopy to make sure 'we' (as a dicipline) wil see a lot of new rules we don't want to see... And a parachute that makes an unexpected turn, because it was not a planned flyby, adds a lot of danger to an already dangerous manouver.. How hard is it to ask/tell someone before you jump...takes 3 seconds to ask, and could save a life, or at least an ass-chewing (from the person you passed/DZO/etc) Doing a flyby past another wingsuiter who you outclimbed on the same jump (after seperation)...maybe?....he'll probably know what to expect....and even if he/she doesnt know...he will freak out less then a non-wingsuiting jumper...who has no clue about what control you do (or do not) have over your freefall... Is it just me or have freefly suits become more tapered and less baggy?
mccordia replied to Newbie's topic in Freeflying
No clue if there's any truth to it....just something I heard But if you look at all the Babylon-freefly peeps at Empuria, everything they wear is pretty tight...but unlike me, they probably don't need a lot of fabric to compensate for lack of skills http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~fxcordia/photo/12_dec_empuria/02_mccordia_babylon1.jpg (me in purple/white, babylon dude in all white) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

mccordia replied to Newbie's topic in Freeflying
One thing I've heard is that dual or triple layers of fabric on the end of arms/legs on a tighter suit, are catching the same amount or even more drag as the old style baggy suits, but just cause less flapping (which means less wear/tear and more accurate flying) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -

I think it's mostly because all freefly-gods are skinny bastards I need the drag JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
I think BM also has a location in Estonia.. But yea..Xmas might not be the greatest period to be expecting tight delivery-times...everybody deserves a few days off no? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Whats this news about a crashed F16 at the airshow? Everyone okay? And more important...where there enough freeflyers there to get it from over a dozen cool angles JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The exits where I've seen people almost 'kiss' the horizontal stabilizer, to me 'seemed to be' about people exiting standing up, instead of flat/flying the exit. When you exit, you're not falling away from the airplane that fast yet, but (because of your upright position) you do get a lot of push 'back' from the amount of surface exposed to the oncoming wind. So in the 1st second after exit, you hardly loose any altitude, but DO get a 2 to 3 meter push backward, into the hard metalic parts of the airplane. I don't know if this is the case, but this is just an observation I think I made, when it comes to exits like this, and close calls I've seen on some folks when it comes to the horiz. stabilo. When you're flying the exit, and you do a proper job and manage to climb, the danger of hitting the stabilo is also there of course. But I suspect most close calls don't come from these flying exits, but rather from standing up 'pushed back' exits.. I also think this, because when I fly the exit, my head is usualy a bit lower then my rig...and the tailstrike wouldbe on the lower part of my rig or my tailwing...as opposed to hitting your head...(which would indicate you're more upright) Anyone else have any idea's on this? G'day from the Picton wingsuit boogie, Australia

Nice pics, is that a GS1 on the far right corner? JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? -
have a link? I can't seem to find it in the video section and nothing found on a search On the left side of the main screen, where it says 'see ghostrider' http://www.bird-man.com/?n=ghostrider About halfway through there's a few shots with the (forward facing) belly and foot mount (some loops/rolls) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
-
We flew a bellymount (Belle-vue) for the short film ghostrider (on www.bird-man.com) a small extra zipper was added to the suit, and the complete setup was worn beneath the wingsuit. Aside from adding the extra zipper, it didn't really take a lot of extra rigging. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

I actualy managed to jump every day of the boogie. But three of four days did see 100/200 and 400 jump limits. But next year, all of you wont be troubled with these anymore, as youll have done your 500th by then (what kind of bigway wil we plan for that?) JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

Also saw the Matter Beginner Suit at the boogie. Looked quite nice. Like a hybrid of a tracking suit and an S-Fly.. Also a 2 part suit (like prodigy and acces) And no grippers on the arms like prodigy, but a wingshaped sleeve that inflates..quite a nice concept JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

From a video posted on skydivingmovies.com I just remembered that I wasnt the only one flying video. Glad this all turned out okay... http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3162 JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?

The Xmas boogie at Empuria Brava was wonderfull. I was there to pollish up on my freeflying, but couldnt resist the temptation. Got to make a few cool wingsuit jumps with David, Lee, Saskia, Jullien and Dimitri, and had great fun. Sadly I was the only one with video (whats wrong with people these days) but I edited it into a short video that I'll post later this week (need to encode and upload it, btw is skydivingmovies.com down?). David flying his white V1 towards the DZ in the bright sunlight was so beautifull...wish I had a stills cam on that jump. Both Saskia and David took some really cool photo's. She already posted a few in the 'events' forum, but would be cool if she could also post a few here. Aside from a few far-away shots and video frame-grabs I've never really had any good high-res pics of myself...the pics they took made up for that BIGTIME! I'm definately framing this one..and wait till you see davids.. http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~fxcordia/photo/12_dec_empuria/03_empuria_mcbackfly.jpg Lee also flew a rodeo with Kris on his back (he gets all the cute girls this way), with Dimitri docking on them and David also has some kick-ass photo's from that jump!
