When I was in the US I was big on the Fetzer Merlot. Right now I'm in Argentina with about 20 wineries within a 100mile radious and loving the Malbecs here. Anything Argentino or Chileno you can get your hands on, grab it. 200ft away from the DZ with the busted-ass plane I got nuthin

Do you agree with the way this demo was handled?
lippy replied to demopolice's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm not American but I lived there long enough understand and respect Old Glory's power. And I've got a shitload of respect for the guys overseas who're fighting and dying for her. But I think that to relate the War on Terror to a guy dong a demo into a football field is totally irrelevant. Maybe his canopy choice wasn't the best for a flag jump, but at the end of the day he had to dig to save his ass, WTF does that have to do with anybody overseas? I got nuthin -

Question to skydivers from Joe Jennings
lippy replied to JoeJ's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I first jumped with a group from college. I didn't know many people in a new city, and thought it would be fun. When I got to the DZ there were so many cool people and the first night I spent out there reminded me of home. To move from a very small town to a metropolis was a little hard on me, but when I got to the DZ we were in the middle of nowhere drinking beer around a bonfire, singing songs and telling storries! That and the rush of the first jumps, the awesome people, the freedom of learning to fly, it's all good. I led a pretty sheltered life in my pre-jumping days, and after being exposed to skydiving and skydivers it definitely gave me a very new perspective on a lot of things. I think the biggest everyday-applicable affect is that I'm more accepting of other people and what they like to do. A lot of people give jumpers shit and I don't like that, and that's taught me to accept what other people like, even if I don't understand it. It's just basic respect, but I don't know if I'd have that point of view if it weren't for jumping. Also it's taught me a lot about giving. So many talented skydivers helped me for no other reason then that they wanted another skydiver to play with. Now that I've got some skills that I can pass on, I love the feeling that I get in paying it forward, getting a new person to fly with and knowing that they will do the same. The acceptance and the 'pay it forward' attitude are two things that skydiving has taught me and have crossed over into the real world. For that I think skydiving has made me a better person, and that's pretty fucking cool -

It's what I have to use, it's a company laptop. Unfortunately our IT department here is useless. The comp is dual boot and Debian is working fine, but I only use that for proprietary software, not tunage. I got nuthin

I reinstalled Windows XP on my Thinkpad R51 about a month ago. I use this comp for music where I work and since I reinstalled Windows it's kinda sketchy...Every once in a while the comp will just stop in it's tracks for all process, and also the music will stop for a second, then pick up again, which is really fucking annoying. If I'm looking at Task Manager in processes, the image name 'system' belonging to system is taking up all the CPU for the second when things lock up. I think I've got all of hte necessary drivers from llenova and I think I'm spyware free. Defrag didn't help, I've downloaded and run a reputable registry cleaner which got rid of a bunch of shit, but still the same. Anybody got any ideas. I got nuthin

At the end of the day you're throwing a bag of nylon and string into the air at 120MPH and hoping for the best. Everybody has their own way of doing it and that's cool. I think when most people are learning to pack they'll take a little piece from everybody who's shown them some stuff and make their own style. If the style you've learned gives you consistent, on-heading openisngs then stick with it. If not, then talk to some more people and evolve to another style. Remember too that your rigger is packing your last chance, and if you've got a good one he's probably following a manual (or has already memorized it) I got nuthin
