My new manager put it there. A guy we used to work with a few years ago called everybody a knob, as in 'dumb as a...', and it caught on between us. .............now I'm WISE Today was my first day with the Wireline Interactive Support Engine. Now instead of running around Latin America trying to fix and maintain equipment, I'll be supporting the field guys from a desk here in Ft. Worth. It's gonna be a helluva lot different working from a desk, but there's a good crew here and my new boss has been my friend and mentor for the past 5 years. I'm hoping that the slow pace of the desk job won't drag me down, but my co-workers are mostly Canadian like me, and while they're serious about their work they keep it light-hearted and joke around when possible. They chipped in and got me an 'extra' nameplate that I found on my office door this morning. I got nuthin

A few years ago I did my last HP landing and it was SO HP that the doctor had to bolt my leg back together! I'm not sure if it's my getting older or what, but I'm starting to notice that my right leg is quite a bit shorter than my left and it's causing me hip and back pain (not to mention that my coin purse is favoring the one side and causing me chafing). I'm thinking that some insoles might help me out here, but would rather avoid a trip to the ortho on this if possible. Is anybody here in a similar boat that could recommend a good 'over-the-counter' insole? Am I better off just seeing the doctor? I got nuthin

Eloy is nice but it can get pretty cold in the nights (not super-cold, but I'm a pussy when it comes to that). I've never been to Z-hills but I've heard good things I got nuthin -
I got a couple jumps on the new suit this weekend. It seemed tighter than comfortable but not horrible. So I'm doing my first jump on the new suit, it was a 2-way. I track off and dump, have a 180 on opening and as I'm looking at the guy who I just jumped with he cuts away (when he popped his brakes, one of the brake-lines broke). He started flying back to the DZ and I started following his free bag. As I was coming in on final in the field where his free bag landed, I realized that it was full of thick, deep mud. One foot went in, didn't come out and I biffed hard....New suit got muddy I got nuthin

So hopefully I'll be in Ft. Worth by the end of the month and I'm thinking of buying a home. I was initially thinking of renting an apartment for the first 6 months so that I wouldn't feel any rush to buy, which I still might do, but the market seems pretty good right now and I'm not sure how that might change in 6 months. To date the most expensive thing I've ever owned is a truck that I bought for 7K cash, so the prospect of buying a house is pretty scary. Has anybody else been here recently? Any tips, hints, things I should be looking out for? A few of my co-workers in TX have wives who work as realtors, and I'm hoping to consult them as soon as I get down there, but I figure I'll try to cover all angles (and I am doing some research outside of dz.com) I got nuthin

I've had two baglocks. I'm pretty sure I was double-stowing at the time, but it was a while ago. The first one was a hop-n-pop sunset from 3K and low speed deployment. I was able to shake it out and was under canopy by 2K, with a shiteload of line twists. The second was a terminal deployment and I was also able to shake it out, but the line twists that built up while the bag was spinning over my head turned into a spinning main malfunction and I chopped it. Not really 100% sure what caused either. I've done plenty of low speed deployments since and haven't changed packing method. Luckily haven't had anymore problems.
