I haven't been to either in a long while, but as of 3 years ago, both were great DZ's. SDH is a little more fun-loving, and Spaceland is a little more serious, but that isn't to say that Spaceland isn't fun-loving or that SDH isn't serious. For a recurrency jump, you're sure to get great, safe instruction for either. As far as what you'll want to have as a home DZ, you should check them both out, and see which one has a vibe that's better suited to what you wanna get out of the sport. I just found a scorpion in my house. He's just a little guy, i had no idea what that little thing in the corner was, and I touched it with my big toe and it sprang to life (thank fuck he didn't bite me. Anyways, now I'm sitting here with a little scorpion inside an upside-down wine glass. I don't know what to do with him....I also don't know if he's poisonous, or if he has any friends that might be waiting in my bed Anyways, that's my news for the night...Back to your regularly scheduled Bonfire activities. True true! I pack for myself a lot, but sometimes I'm just lazy and pay a packer...But I always leave the DZ with my main unpacked. A packer will pack your shit and usually give you a nice opening, but they're not going to inspect your slinks, untwist your brake lines, check to see if your kill line is starting to fray, check how that 120mph tape is holding up.... Every experienced jumper should be 100% confident in packing their shit, and at least once in a while should use packing as a chance to give their rig a thorough once-over. Plus, it gives you something skydive-related to do on a Tuesday night (besides post-whoring on the dz.com). I came from a Cessna DZ and two things that still seem real strange to me after spending a good bit of time on turbine DZ's: 1:People who don't know how to spot/are scared to get out of a plane below 2500' (unless particular gear is a real concern) 2:people with hundreds of jumps who approach packing their own main as a major problem I got nuthin

I'm curious as to how much the owners actually run the DZ. Do they manage it themselves or do they just happen to own it, but have a DZM run the show. If it is a DZM, how cloesely associated is he/she with Skyride? I'm just curious. I don't have a dog in this fight, but this thread is interesting reading. edit: I can't type very fast on the mini...Question was answered while I was trying to ask it I got nuthin -

Hey Rosa I hope I didn't come across as bashing the food/drink of Peru. Ceviche and Pisco don't appeal to me, but like I said: to each their own (I'm sure that some of my favorites that Mom makes back home wouldn't be that tasty for a lot of people). Peru is definitely one of my favorite countries, for the little bit of it that I know. Lima has a very laid back vibe, some very cool history and some awesome coastal views. Just north of Lima in Collique there's a little DZ where they fly a Ceneca (spelling) that's a cool little plane, and you get some amazing views from up there (it's weird being at 9000' and seeing a mountain right beside you). There's some very cool culture in the jungle as well. My avatar is from Iquitos, Peru. It's one of the few 'shitty oilfield towns' that I have to go to that's actually more than a shitty oilfield town. I got nuthin

I'm flying up to Houston to meet my ex and help her get settled in her new life there. I broke it off with her back in November when she moved back to Venezuela. Now that she's back in the same continent, I'm hoping we can patch things up. It's also cool b/c she's coming in from Loredo where she's visiting her aunt and we're going to meet in San Antonio. I think I'll get there a few hours early and have a chance to hit up Skydive San Marcos
