lippy replied to amychmelecki's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Is anybody else bringing a Nerf gun? I'd like to partake in some epic Nerf gun wars, but I don't wanna be that douchebag who shot somebody with a Nerf gun It's only fun if somebody else is playing I got nuthin -

I think most of the bigger resort areas have tandem mills. There wasn't anything in Acapulco when I was there last year though. If you're going to be close to Mexico City, you've got Skydive Cuatla and Skydive Tequesquitengo both within about an hour of the city. I've jumped at both and had a good time. They weren't busy when I visited and we were just jumping small Cessna's, but Tequesquitengo has a Dornier and Cuatla is the winter home of one of Skydive Chicago's Otters. The aircraft situation may have changed since I was last there, you'd want to verify before making plans. I got nuthin

Great idea! I'm looking for shelters in Ft. Worth to see if they could use me (and my turkey fryer if need be)

I've got no plans either. The gf is going to Venezuela to spend Xmas with her family. I'm on call so I have to stay close to work. Probably going to spend the day chilling in the apartment. TX needs an Xmas boogie! I got nuthin

She's been making music for a while, but if I remember the story correctly, her new style came about after she was jumped/beaten outside of a recording studio. It changed her outlook on life and hence her musical style. I haven't heard any of her original stuff so I can't talk about how the new style is different from the old. I got nuthin

Aimee Allen. She's pretty new to the scene and I think the name is going to be really well known in the not-too-distant future. I've heard her described as Gwen Stephani meets Sublime and I think that's a fair description. The chick's got some serious soul and she puts on a good show. I got nuthin

Skydive Temple & the Deadman Boogie 2009
lippy replied to cstaffa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yep, the noodle wars were organized by Simon. One guy flies defense while everybody else tries to bonk him on the head with a water noodle. There was a point system based on hits/blocks, but in the end I'm not sure who was really keeping track. It was fun as hell though. -
Skydive Temple & the Deadman Boogie 2009
lippy replied to cstaffa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had a blast and I came away from my trip to Skydive Temple with a lotta love for the place. Great people and great skydives. The SDT crew + The Anvil Bros + free beer = Trifecta! I got nuthin -
As someone else said, my main problem with this is that you don't know how that guy is going to react when he thinks he's going to die. Maybe he freaks out after realizing they're still in freefall and starts grabbing other handles. I found it funny but I still think this is something you just shouldn't mess with when you're in freefall with a first timer *I'm not a TI so my $0.02 isn't even worth that in this case I got nuthin

A Co-worker of mine just left to get the ole' snippety-snip. I was thinking of getting the rest of the guys here to chip in and send him a bucket of ice. What kind of funny shit could go into such a care package? *The guy's got a good sense of humor as does his wife I got nuthin

Tomorrow morning leaving for Mexico to go get my stuff and bring it up to Ft. Worth. I'm giving a friend from there a ride home and we're going to stop at one of the DZ's on the way for her first tandem. I'm not sure if I'll spend Saturday night in Mexico or if I'll try to drive up to San Antonio and be at Skydive San Marcos early Sunday I got nuthin

I'm in Ft. Worth. If I can cancel my cable I'll definitely check in with Verizon. Most of my coworkers here don't even have cable or satellite for TV, they just run HD Media Centers from their computers. The picture quality from my USB-HDMI is great, even on the 50" plasma, but if I can't get online to get media it'll get pretty boring. I got nuthin

I'm well on my way to being set up in TX. I got my cable hooked up last Thursday and the cable modem started losing connection right away. On Friday I went to the provider and exchanged the modem for another one, same problem. So I called the provider and this morning a tech came over and replaced two two-way splitters with one three-way splitter and said that should take care of it. 20 minutes after he left it started going wonky again. I just called the cable company and they said they'll send a tech over tomorrow. So now this is the 3rd time in a week that I'm taking off of my new job to get my cable straightened out. I just got a USB-HDMI converter for my laptop to run my 50" TV off the computer, but it sucks when the modem drops out every 10 minutes! If they can't fix this I hope they'll at least let me out of my contract so I can go with a DSL provider that isn't dependant on the the old cables in my apartment. I got nuthin

We met in Venezuela but didn't date at all there. Then she moved to Mexico City, and I moved to northern Mexico and we started seeing each other whenever I could spend a weekend in Mexico City. Then I broke it off because it was too stressful to work the LD thing, and she was planning to move back to Venezuela which complicated things even more. Back in May she moved to Houston and we decided to try again. Still long-distance, but it was easily drivable from Reynosa, Mexico, and I started routing my business trips through Houston instead of Mexico City as much as I could. Two weeks ago I moved to Ft. Worth. And in two hours she's getting on a bus to Dallas

We were bored as shit and had 2 bottles of whiskey and a couple of Lady Bic's. The 3 whitest guys in Ojeda, Venezuela walking around bald as cue-balls. The next morning when we came downstairs in the staff house the cleaning lady, who was like our Venezuelan mother, almost started crying. This photo was taken right after the deed was done, before we sobered up enough to realize it was a bad idea I got nuthin

I just moved to Ft. Worth and I'm looking for furniture. Somebody suggested that I check out Costco, and tonight I found a Sealy Posturpedic Waterbrook King set for $599! Sale ends tomorrow so I gotta find a place to store it till I get my apartment on Thursday, but I'll be back tomorrow to buy. The thing's got mixed reviews online but with Costco's return policy I think it's worth it.

I think all the DZ's in Alberta are shut down for the year. Around Calgary there are 3 DZ's, but I haven't jumped at any of them in a while so I'm not sure what the vibe is like. There are a few Calgarians who make the drive up to Edmonton on a regular basis. Eden North is a great DZ just outside of Edmonton. They've got a Caravan for the jumping season (which ended yesterday there), a great crew of people and some of the best RW, Freefly and CReW people in Canada. Depending on what part of Calgary you're in, it's about a 4 hour drive. I got nuthin

Coyotes kill woman on hike in Canadian park
lippy replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
I grew up just a few minutes away from where this happened, my mother just told me about it. Sad news. A lot of people are over-reacting back there; This was definitely a tragic incident, but it doesn't mean coyotes are going to start jumping out of the woods and eating people I got nuthin
