BIGUN is right. Judges are not stupid. Minneapolis Man Charged with Using 3D Printers to Manufacture Machineguns "MINNEAPOLIS – A Minneapolis man has been charged in a federal criminal complaint for possessing auto sears and using 3D printers to manufacture auto sears out of his Minneapolis residence, announced U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger. According to court documents, on August 31, 2022, law enforcement conducted a controlled delivery of a package containing 30 firearm parts to Aaron Malik Cato, 25, at his Minneapolis residence. The package, which had been shipped from Taiwan and intercepted by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents, contained enough parts to create 10 auto sears, a device that turns a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic firearm and is considered a machinegun under federal law. Upon searching Cato’s home, pursuant to a warrant, law enforcement recovered seven firearms, including five handguns and two AR platform firearms. Three of the handguns were equipped with auto sears and appeared to be Privately Made Firearms (PMF’s), or ghost guns. Law enforcement also found inside Cato’s residence four 3D printers and multiple 3D printed auto sears." Sept. of last year.

A Texas republican gem: "Attorney General Ken Paxton and four of his former top deputies who said he improperly fired them after they accused him of crimes have reached a tentative agreement to end a whistleblower lawsuit that would pay those employees $3.3 million dollars. In a filing on Friday, attorneys for Paxton and the whistleblowers asked the Texas Supreme Court to further defer consideration of the whistleblower case until the two sides can finalize the tentative agreement. Once the deal is finalized and payment by the attorney general's office is approved, the two sides will move to end the case, the filing said. "The whistleblowers sacrificed their jobs and have spent more than two years fighting for what is right," said TJ Turner, an attorney for David Maxwell, a whistleblower and former director of law enforcement for the attorney general's office. "We believe the terms of the settlement speak for themselves." Paxton, a Republican who won a third four-year term in November, said in a statement that he agreed to the settlement to save taxpayer money and start his new term unencumbered by the accusations....The attorney general’s office also agreed to delete a news release from its website that called the whistleblowers “rogue employees.”. The agreement is contingent upon the state of Texas coughing up the cash, naturally.

Cue the music from "Lunatic Fringe" What about the Carolina's, Georgia. Don't you care about an inclusive America?
-
That is the uniquely American phenomenon. Whereby the less off working classes have been sold a bill of goods associated with the protestant work ethic. If you're poor its because you just don't work hard enough. The rich don't get rich because of playing the system. Its work and competitive market systems working as they should. Woke ideas, woke legislation, are designed by elites to hurt average hard working, church going, white rule abiders. Just stay in your lane. Vote republican. Go to church. Work harder and success will be yours. Because its the American way. Just my take on it.
-
Don't forget the idea that "the people" are fighting the elites. The elite political, the elite rich and their politically connected friends are the enemy. Only our "group/tribe" can fight this cabal of elites.
-
Good catch. Its amazing what the WP and NYT scoop up. In Florida you take a big ole bite of the MAGA pie if you want to represent its republican voters. trump didn't move there for just the weather.
-
A real team America..
-
A race to the bottom. How republican.

The Canadian parliament, the UK parliament, is the same. There are stupid politicians and ones that only know theater. But there are intelligent and honest ones who usually end up on committees. They get the real work done behind closed doors.
-
So you're saying that President Biden is flexible. Willing to make compromises on the budget to contain costs. To avoid passing on to future generations of Americans massive debts. In addition to global warming, pollution, unsecured pension obligations etc. Unlike the GOP. Just kidding. It's only when you toss out individuals like MTG. Put level headed elected officials behind doors, off the record, in committees. That concrete proposals to effect change can be put into statutes.

Agree. IMO the deepest penetration of Russian trolls are in the pro gun communities. The misinformation and anti-government rhetoric is widespread.

Well Putin is shipping new SU-35 jets to Iran in order to pay for Iranian drones. Drones he used to kill Ukrainian civilians. and Drones For Nukes? Russia Is Helping Iran With Nuclear Program ‘In Exchange’ For Missiles & UAVs Well Putin keeps his promises to kill opponents anywhere in the world. Well Putin has kept up his flow of rubles to his troll farm workers. i.e. right Slim King? Russia will make $10 billion for new nuclear reactors if a new nuclear deal is reached. So there is that promise.

Actually he is right again. . It might seem as if the problem isn't worse. Because FOX and the GOP have cried wolf for three decades straight.
-
Agree. he should have done better. A NYT take on it: President Biden Is Not Backing Off His Big-Government Agenda He could have set a more pro business take on it. Instead of pandering to the Dem. base. His poor approval ratings are almost all due to inflation. His bi-partizan infrastructure bill will continue inflationary pressures. Even though it was largely needed. He could have gone after the middle America voter. The ones that voted GOP in midterms. Instead it seemed as if he wanted to defend his tribe. Oh well

In this video the plastic 3d printed fins are yellow. it also shows a regular hand grenade dropped w/o stabilizing fins. The grenades are 40mm grenades that are separated from the propellant and case. The claimed lethal radius is five meters. It also shows a lack of training by the Russian military. A lack of supervision by experienced officers. The foxholes are shallow. With several troops in each one.
-
Agree. Poor applicants, poor training, bad pay. Some U.S. police train for just a few weeks, in some countries they train for years Like the old saw. You can pay me now or pay me later. Alienation of mistrust of LEO because of bad interactions by inept and poorly trained police. Leads to injury and death all around. Agree. I don't know what kind of training the Memphis officers had. But when a suspect in in the grasp of an officer and resisting. You use an armlock or trip to bring him to the ground. Then its hands behind the back into cuffs. None of the officers seem to had that in mind. On either the first stop or the second. As soon as they are in cuffs its over.

According to the WP there were 1110 civilians killed by police in the US over the last 12 months.Graph of killings by ethnicity. Perhaps the answer is that police unions are required to carry insurance for misconduct by their members. With a flat subsidy to cover that cost and independent oversight of complaints of course. Police unions and police violence — and what to do about it "Limits on when police can use force is a better solution than banning police unions" a WP article

I thought that Trudeau should have resigned when he took a free vacation from "The Trudeau Report, a holiday adventure in which Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accepts a free Christmas vacation for family and friends at the luxurious private Caribbean island of the Aga Khan. Plot twist: The Ethics Commissioner finds that Mr. Trudeau violated three sections of the Conflict of Interest Act." Imagine if the US had a "Ethics Commissioner"?

OK I have to admit I was wrong on the issue of police unions in the US. I keep thinking that the US is similar to other G-7 countries. The Trouble with Police Unions " labor contracts allow — or even require — the expungement of officers' records of past disciplinary actions or accusations of misconduct. Until this spring, New York state shielded officers' records from the public through a provision in state law. In Cleveland, the collective-bargaining agreement required that disciplinary records be deleted every two years. Baltimore's most recent collective-bargaining agreement states that an accused officer "may request expungement of such matter from any file containing the record of the formal complaint" three years after a complaint is "not sustained" or the officer is exonerated. In Seattle, the contract allows the city to retain files of investigations that result in a "sustained" finding of misconduct for the duration of the officer's employment. Files of investigations that are "not sustained" can only be retained for three years."

Sorry Joe. My mistake pooping on your thread. I apologize. I forgot that the co-governing party just appointed George Santos to the science committee. MTG's appointments to covid, oversight and Homeland Security committees. I'm positive with these powerful intellects at work. Gun violence and LEO's misconduct will be speedily addressed. At least if they don't go broke first. Police Brutality Bonds "You’re probably familiar with municipal bonds issued for infrastructure. These often tax-free vehicles are part of most people’s investment portfolios. Now there are police brutality bonds – although that’s not their official names. Huge banks such as Wells Fargo and Bank of America profit from these bonds, along with smaller financial institutions. That’s because cities have become so crippled by the amount of money they must pay in settlements that they are forced to issue these bonds. According to the Action Center on Race & the Economy (“ACRE”), these police brutality bonds can double the cost of a settlement. The group examined five cities – Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Lake County, Indiana – and estimated that these five cities bonded $837.8 million between 2008 and 2017, but paid a whopping $1.03 billion in interest during that time period! That ends up costing taxpayers $1.87 billion for taxpayers."

Disagree. Rodney King beating, after shooting, after beating. No change is anywhere on the horizon. Agree. About as far as gun control in the US. Disagree, LEO unions exist in every other country in the world. Every city. Perhaps its the culture? One awash in guns, where low wages mixes with little training. Where racism, drugs, high incarceration rates add fuel to the equation. Where law and order is sold to a group. Where guns for "self protection" is sold as the answer. Where political parties are "soft on crime" when they suggest alternatives to incarceration. At least with this news cycle. The last mass shooting is off the front page.
-
The entire problem and possible solution. In a single run on sentence.Unfortunately no solution seems to be anywhere on the horizon. So the carnage goes on and on.

I think you all may be correct. Even heroes can have serious flaws that books, movies, producers and authors Either choose, or fail, to include or choose to dismiss. There may be reasons for such inclusions or omissions. Right or wrong.
