Should a Cutaway cable move or slip at all upon opening.
Elisha replied to skip's topic in Gear and Rigging
Read these two threads - probably the same issue: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1775227;search_string=cable;#1775227 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1927115;search_string=cable;#1927115 -
Yeah. I can confirm that. I did around 200 jumps on a Turbo ZX 145. I was overloading it a bit, IIRC recommended maximum wingload is 1.1, I was loading it at 1.3. The openings started "brisk" and as the canopy went out of trim they went through "hard" to "Would it hurt less if I opened the reserve at terminal"?. The landings weren't that great either; I couldn't get the canopy to plane out without inducing some speed with the front risers. Loaded at 1.1? For such a fast sounding canopy (by name), it sure seems shitty!

Or attention.

Skydive Monterey Bay - New plane, DZO
Elisha replied to brianfry713's topic in Events & Places to Jump
No, now it is a REALLY tough call, favoring holding where I am. 1.5 yrs ago it was tough, but leaning toward refi. I should've done it back then, but se la vie. My place is only a 2bd/1.5 bath 25 yr old townhouse which I can barely afford the payments anyways and must rent out the other room just to skydive/payoff debt. Still, I have over 100K in equity that I didn't 2.5 yrs ago when I bought it. -

Now, I can't take any equity out - I have 3 loans! I'm HOPING that 2 & 3 are forgiveable, but didn't see it on any of the paperwork last time I looked. I just hoped I looked in the wrong place. I have 100% financing FHA/CalHFA loans - a 2nd and 3rd silent mortgages and just pay on the first. Sure, I pay almost $100/month in MI, but I don't pay anything on loans 2 & 3 and all 3 are 30 yr fixed @5.0%. I probably SHOULD have refi'd all three for a 5 yr ARM around 1.5 yrs ago, but too late now. Still, I just wish I COULD take out a HELOC (home equity line of credit) if I wanted - much better iterest rate than a credit card! -
Yeah, ask when you can go running, play soccer or softball again. Running has much more impact than landings for me. While individual landings may be more impactful (like flaring early, ground speed, etc.), running does much more damage due to the constant pounding.

Is there a list of 1800 SKYRIDE websites somewhere?
Elisha replied to steveorino's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wouldn't say either. They are not Skyride and I don't think they are listed as a DZ that takes their certificates either. While I agree that the multiple SkyDance sites are weird and confusing, SkyDance is legit and a good place to jump. Guano FF trains there and there are a lot of good people there...like our very own skybytch (and Feeblemind keeps following me there too)! -
But not as windy as Byron can be! But you gotta love Byron.
-
Probably not - just more likely that weather could be finnicky. You're talking NorCal, not the midwest. In the NorCal DZs, if conditions allow it, people are generally there jumping. And no, Guano is not the shit - they're nice people!

for ongoing treatment: try Yoga. For now: lay on back on floor, twist hips with right leg as far as you can on the left side while trying to keep your back flat on the floor. Do other side as well.

I don't know...probably 130 max and around 105 min. I'm floaty.

Btw, I saw a shot of Tyra's tummy, and it looked..."flawed" in comparison to some of the others (as in a tad flabby or not as flat). But otherwise, she was hot hot hot!

That would probably be Heidi Klum - gave birth to Seal's baby in September (they go married back in March). She also had another last year by her former bf that Seal is raising as their own. Re: Naomi - probably why Seal dumped her and married Heidi.

Hey punk, watch your young mouth. Like me, you'll be this old some day. As a women gains years to her age, she also gains experience/confidence that she brings with her. I much prefer a woman that has something to talk about other than, um, like, you know, stuff. Hey, I turned 30 this year myself! I think those actresses/models in their 30's are hotter than those in their 20's. To quote Sean Connery from (Rising Sun or some commercial), "Confidence is very sexy, don't ya think?"
-
and she's still hot! Yeah, I know! I just thought they were strict about the age requirement - like a hard ceiling of 32-34 or something.
-
Yes, I know! We know it, the models know it - everyone does! But that doesn't mean it's not a cool spectacle to watch - with hot scantily clad models!
-
I can't believe there isn't a thread on this yet. What's wrong with you guys? I couldn't not watch it. Oooh la la! I was surprised to see Naomi Campbell still there - she's like 36!
-
I was thinking this as well...and can't believe this has 100 posts already!
-
I'm pondering about going Sunday, otherwise I would jump with you. Listen to Iwan. Talk to manifest - they'll hook you up. Also ask for Mad John or Gareth.
-
Being "raised" on a cessna DZ, the first few boogies I went to I was a little unnerved by all the other canopy traffic...even though I had 35+ jumps already. Now that I've jumped at a few boogies and have jumped several other times at some turbine dzs, I'm more comfortable. I don't see how someone w/o their license would feel "safe" at the WFFC though. Maybe you didn't totally explain yourself though.

Woa. I need to make an effort to get down there.
