UK weather bad, where should I go?
Elisha replied to darrenspooner's topic in Events & Places to Jump
< 8/day not getting it together? Sheesh! You've got tough standards. You must have a packing slave at the very least then. I could only think of getting that many during warm period, staying in an air conditioned area when not jumping AND having a packer for every jump. -
I met him IRL at Eloy and jumped with him a few times. I agree, that he is defintely talented and giving...and I appreciated being asked/allowed on the dives I went on and to dinner with the group.

My worst opening on my Sabre1 (just like monkycndo...and same era of old Talon container too) was when I got it back from the Masterrigger. He probably didn't do anything with the nose.

Ok, I think the video from my trip to Eloy is done *LINK*

My only criticism at this point is how brief the Magic Carpet footage was. -

People just too lazy to drive the van now? That south area can be rather bumpy I remember from my one time landing there. -

Eloy, AZ. 1 hr south of Phoenix. -
Interesting. As cheap as Motel 6 sounds, it usually is bearable, while I remember those Red Roof commercials with Martin Mull making the place sound rather decent for the price.
-
Please man, please! We can't handle this absence much longer! ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
-
Was that the Motel 6 (recoding keycards) or Red Roof Inn? Everyone I talked to who stayed at the Red Roof said it sucked.

Oh, there sure is water in it now! And there was the day after Christmas as well. Oh, the Cloverdale landing area is about a minute or so crawl from the landing area, depending on what side you land. -
You must feel even colder up there now...I would've left the majority for another couple months...and then gotten rid of it.
-
Oh yeah, it had already changed names from The Graduate by then (and since has gone to IVBC - Isla Vista Beer Company and probably another name or three). The original Grad was related to the one in SLO and Chico with maybe a Sac or Davis location as well AFAIK.

Saw it. What a dilhole. Is big bro a better civillian?
-
No that I know of, but we have to be pretty whiny to actually complain if it does/did.

Because the Freebirds here in Texas are just to die for... OK, turn back the clock to my mid-late teens (say, 1990). My reference for burritos is Taco Bell and my mom's bland bean & cottage cheese backed burritos (why the heck did anyone previously mix cottage cheese with refried beans, put in a tortilla, bake it and put it in a recipe?). I hear about Freebirds and think it is a huge improvement (compared to McD's, Carl's is a huge improvement, but as beef goes, still a long way from Filet Mignon or any half-way decent steak for that matter). A few months later, I go to Tio Alberto's and think, "Wow! This is better yet!". Time goes by and I eat burritos and other (Tex)Mex at other establishments. Now, in retrospect, Freebirds may be better than Taco Bell, but c'mon, it is like the Denny's of Burrito places - it may be better than fast food, but it's not going to impress anyone.
-
Yup, in retrospect, I have no clue why Freebirds in IV is so hyped - it is very unimpressive. El Cap/Refugio - nice places, but can get crowded. Definitely not secrets anymore.

Eloy Holiday Boogie (yes, $30 Reg fee), Mesquite boogie coming up, maybe more

Woa. Thought he looked younger but thought is was just because he's Swedish.
-
Wrong answer. Now you'll never get gasson's footage of you from me.

You would get sick of anything if you heard it almost daily (or more often). As to the DJ, he should have been given a list of unplayable songs (e.g. those usually used to dub tandem vids).
