  1. 9's what we had, but I don't think we tried to get any larger because of the "no more than 10 jumpers behind the line" limit on the 'van (and since we had Gasson doing video, that was our 10). I think (though I'm not sure) Casa's can handle more behind the line, but it sounds like 18 *might* be pushing it a bit. OK. Someone in another thread about the Z-Hills Carpet said that 9-12 works better anyways - that if any larger it would tend to fold in on itself. Anyways, ours rocked and grue posted video to prove it!
  2. Did we have more people lined up and the organizers halted it? I thought 9 was just what we happened to gather. Anyways, from what they were saying, we held ours together longer, so there!
  3. Does anyone roll the nose on anything besides a Sabre1? That is the only canopy I've heard of needing to have the nose rolled, but what do I know.
  4. Really? I thought it was a NEW turbine aircraft that was designed to be cost efficient and carry in teens of jumpers. Sure, it may be less comfortable than a Caravan and there may be a potential stall issue if people aren't balanced upon exit but may be solved by having those non-bigwayers stay at the front. But it still is a great jump plane - maybe the best all around for it's size.
  5. I attend an Orthodox Church and sing in the choir, thus I know a lot of Russians and different forms of Russian Chant.
  6. It is so good it made it to....*sigh*....skydivingmovies.com
  7. Sandpaper tongue and sharp teeth... not an animal I'd consider... ummm.... never mind.... J Dogs like licking salty skin too - they're good for cleaning wounds.
  8. Goldfinger. The Euphemisms are just awesome with the series. Even in Moonraker, the NASA Physicist Bond Girl played by Lois Chiles was named Dr. Holly Goodhead .
  9. Although I have favorites, I like them all. I appreciate what the consenus says about Connery being the "best" Bond, but due to my age, impression of who "Bond" is supposed to be and such, I like Moore the best. Ironically, I read an article deducing that Dalton was probably closest to Fleming's Bond with Moore second (Moore the only actual Brit). Connery? Bond was not Shhhhhhcotishhh. Brosnan? Bond was not Irrrrrrish. Lazenby? Oh please. As far as aging goes particular to Bond, Moore aged far better simply by the fact that he is actually almost 3 years older than Connery (b. Oct '27 vs Aug '30). He looked far better AS BOND in '83 in Octopussy than Connery did in '83 with Never Say Never Never Again (Connery being one of the few bright spots for an illegitimate Bond film). Interestingly, up until now, there conceivably could have only been Moore and Brosnan to play Bond. When the series started, Moore was still under contract for The Saint (and the producers thought he still looked too prettyboy-ish at the time even though he was being considered for the part) and Brosnan had the chance in the mid 80's but Remington Steele wouldn't let him out of his contract. Another tidibt: Connery wore a toupee in every bond film he played. I don't think there is a doubt in anyone's mind though that Connery is the best actor out of anyone of them. Moore has hardly done anything memorable besides Bond, while Connery still does good with lesser Action Hero-type roles as a gray-haired guy in films like Rising Sun, The Rock, etc.
  10. Neither. It goes back to the taking responsibility thing you and others mentioned back in the Shayna thread. No whining - just deal with it. Working retail, you more or less have consistent work at a consitent wage. Deal or do some other work. Packing is much has a bigger upside in $$$, but there is no bene's (like insurance - even Workers' Comp, 401(k)/pension, etc.) and amount of work is much more volatile, with a potential unavailability of work during whole seasons. Packing is also much more dependent on the customer choosing to use one packer's services over another. I don't see how it is much different than the "need a million to start a DZ" thing or "not possible to make a living (in the) skydiving (industry)" talk. Economically/statistically speaking, there is probably a lower expected value packing than working retail or some other "wage" job ( E(packing income) < E(working retail) ).
  11. Maybe they like having a roof over their heads... So would working at McD's or another place that had more consistent employment...but I'm not doing that either. My point being that it is highly risky for not a large potential sum to rely on packing (mains) money for anything other than supplemental income. Not realizing this is to one's own folly.

    Roysplaything

What does that mean? Ummm....no. Your wrong.
  19. Why anyone relies on packing money for rent is beyond me, but I realize it's partly the nature of the industry.
  20. Exactly! Rock on Magic Carpet!!! Grue, you rock! (I'm in the white suit w/Green rig flailing my arm to the side.)
  21. Ditto. Kinda regretted not going to Byron yesterday, but got stuff done in my room at least (and have plenty more housework to do still).
  22. Other - looking for more Eloy pics/video....but I did add to the Sudsy Memories thread.
