Ways to piss off a man ... let me count thee ways
Elisha replied to lisamariewillbe's topic in The Bonfire
Yes, and I used it to prevent the cats from shredding it. Which way is UNIMPORTANT. What is important is that TP is THERE! -
NWFlyer's link says 4600...unless you meant roundtrip.
-
I just checked IMDB.com. He's making ANOTHER Walker: Texas Ranger movie....he is 65 now (born in 1940).
-
Yes, Happy Birthday too! Happy....33rd Birthday! (You hanging anywhere in the East Bay this evening?)
-
Semantics aside, are you saying that he and Rick (the father-to-be/bf/fiance/whatever) are not "hanging out" there and Rick is skydiving? They haven't been there? They still could arrive, maybe this weekend?

No problem, but please don't cross post. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2026267;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread

....or Donkey Punch or Strawberry Swirl or Emeril or... (I didn't just say this. I have no idea what they mean. I think someone might have used them in a mean context. I'm completely innocent...)

I voted "only for requirement", but it is not entirely true. I have only done two "real" hop n' pops - one from 4K for license and the x-country at the Eloy Boogie. Would like to do more when the opportunity presents itself (e.g. low ceiling).
-
Sorry to be the voice of reason here, but looking at you numbers and ratings (or lack there of) I would take Bytch advice over yours hands down. But that's just me. mattjw316, And I might add that when you start to get skydiving articles published as the skybytch, then we'll start to give what you say some consideration.

I bought this one. -
What's with it? C'mon people! Upload your Holiday boogie footage immediately! Voyeueristic minds want to see! (Gure, you're excused do to your recent accomplishments,)

You sound like an unhappy Actuary, Finance or IT guy. Do you work for Manulife or something? If your personal financial situation is decent, take the severance, go skydiving somewhere warm and go work for a competitor somewhere else in Toronto. Toronto is the Canadian hotbed for Insurance companies. You have plenty of options.

(warning: I obviously don't know what I'm talking about since I'm not a TM) From what I remember about my first two tandems, the place (SkyDance in Davis) gave us the opportunity to pull ourselves and let us steer after opening. We were given our own Alti as well on our wrist and about a 500' or so window (6K to 5500) to pull - if not the TM did it. If we told them we wanted to try and "save our lives", we did practice touches before boarding and during freefall. My point is, even if the local DZ does NOT want the passenger trying to do this, how can an extra few minutes of training hurt? What about showing a picture of what a good canopy looks like and one with the risers as well to show where the brakes are stowed? Besides pull right -> turn right and pull left -> turn left, mention both = brakes/flare and the concept of braked turns? I realize this could be information overload, but you're just giving an extra few minutes overview. I wrote this in a few sentences, so it shouldn't take that long. Again, it is only for a just-in-case scenario, not YOU REALLY NEED TO REMEMBER THIS like for AFF-I.

Contacts or glasses to jump?

I just read your post and we have about the same jump numbers.... -
Misrouted Cheststrap – How to survive?
Elisha replied to AFFI's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It has been frequently pointed out that the most "dangerous" group of skydivers are around the 100-800 jump range - which we both fit in. Try having some humility and be less sensitive. Most skydivers use the term "100 Jump Wonder" - including most "100 Jump Wonder"s! Relax. -
Contacts or glasses to jump?
Elisha replied to virginflyer3's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Listen to the man.... I had a contact pop out during freefall onto mw goggles recently. I had a bunch of stuff stolen and was borrowing some. I was wondering why my vision was a little blurry after landing and then saw the contact. The wind blew the crusty, drying out contact off my finger when I tried to put it back on. Stupidly, I took my glasses and my toiletries bag which had an extra pair of contacts out of my bag before going to the DZ. I had to drive home almost 100 miles with one eye. It sucked....a lot. -
Misrouted Cheststrap – How to survive?
Elisha replied to AFFI's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At Eloy a week or so ago, I kept wondering why my chest strap (the elastic keeper part - not the buckle) kept sliding back toward the buckle...then realized it was misrouted. I fixed by about 8K while still on the climb. Yikes! I had noticed the sliding keeper even before boarding, but just didn't figure out the buckle/misrouting at the time as the reason why it was sliding back. -
No....I'm still at work, I have stuff to do after work tonight, and there won't be anybody east of the west coast on by the time I can get there (except you of course since you're a night owl).

That sounds nice - not "Brisk"!

Ok, I think the video from my trip to Eloy is done *LINK*

Those people are just a bunch of uneducated hicks. Serial Thrilla rocks! -

Again, those such as skybytch and hookitt have much more credibility than you and your undue paranoia. You can spew all the anecdotes you want, but the simple facts of the number of Sabre1s sold due to length of Production ('89 to '01) and Performance Designs having top market share combined with a higher propensity to have hard openings would produce anecdotes like you show. I'm sure we can construct a similar list with a Spectre from known hard openings. I demoed a Safire2 at Eloy and thought it sniveled too long! I'd like to get something a size down from my Sabre (e.g. Sabre2-135), but more due to perfomance . I'm not worried about my openings and my Sabre was manufactured 3/91.

Have they lived in Russia at all within the past ten years at all? (Since the Communist govt fell and Russia started trying to re establish themselves...) I'm sure some of them have and those that don't have relatives that still live there.

Yes, you should aware of our reliance on the content of the site and our fragile mental state. I should be able to go on with my life now.
