    I really don't understand how you could get a can (or bottle?) to stay in your canopy while in flight. Please explain this. Even tossing it into your nose sounds like it would take some precision. You would be descending slower than gravity, so why would the can/bottle not just fall and perhaps hit you in the noggin?

    Nice to know I'm not alone, and someone out on the left coast can fill in for me on occasion. I'm surprised no one else on this coast has said they know him - it seems like everyone I talk to does!

    Nope! I have met someone who I THOUGHT was you - they are named Jim and is an ordained minister and has a son, but is single (actuall, dating someone I sing with in my church choir) and lives in NorCal. It seems like everyone knows him.

    Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I wanted to know exactly what a Cross Country was and didn't want to create a new thread. I'd love to do one at Byron for the Boogie (or maybe even this Saturday if possible). So, you guys mention bring cell phones and beer. I'm thinking how carry these things. My one RW regular Tony Suit has this tiny little arm pocket where I can put a watch or a knife and then there is a pocket in the inside which could hold a cell phone and/or MAYBE a can (blech! Well, maybe a of Heineken, but still not the best) of beer. How do you pull this off? Also, how do you fly while drinking/calling/whatever? Do you just leave the brakes stowed most of the time and steer with risers? Restow or release the brakes? Thanks.

    Bwahahahahaaa!! I am Catholic, why haven't I ever heard that joke before?! Edit to add: The standard question I get is "are you really a Priest?" Which I always answer the same way: "No, I'm a Reverend. That means I'll drink with you, can (and did) marry, and it especially means I like girls, not boys." RevJ, You could have the best of both worlds and be an Orthodox Priest - which you can be married (but you must be married BEFORE you become a priest, otherwise you have to be celibate). Oh, and BOOOOOOO on the joke. Heard it before - tacky.

    No final resolution yet. I plan to go to Byron this weekend (first time - pre boogie visit) and I'll have a rigger look at it. I'm thinking that I'll have the rigger change the cable anyways, even if it is "borderline" or ok just for peace of mind. At the DZ closest to me (the last time I jumped), the only rigger is never there. This AFF I, who says he has taken the rigger training, but not the test yet, thinks (in his admitted semi-professional opinion) that it is ok.

    As the esteemed all-knowing one said. The DZO at my former home took the 12-yr old daughter of a student (well, A License holder now) on a tandem. She was very tall and thin for her age. She basically whined and begged her dad and he caved, but with the stipulation that she would be an indentured servant for the next two months and be in trouble if she bragged to her sister. Everything went fine and she had a blast, but again, there are much bigger legal risks.
