  1. I was involved in this particular incident, and we actually had a 3rd option you failed to mention....the pilot gave us the option to land with the plane. For me, the decision was easy. Not a decision I really wanted to be making in the 1st place, but easy. I bailed out on my reserve. My main (Pilot 168) snivels a good deal, 1800' is my decision altitude so if my main had a problem I didn't feel like I would have had time to deal with it. Not to mention the very real chance of having 2 out due to an AAD fire (I've heard they arm at 1200', fire around 750??? - not sure if this is true). I did not want to land with the plane (although I have had to do that before, when I had no choice). I have no trouble landing with the plane when it's functioning properly, but when there's a problem with it I would much prefer to land under my own canopy. And between 1000 - 2000 feet, that canopy is my reserve. I'm curious to know, for the people who say they would go to their mains in this situation (which 21 people did in this instance, with no problems) at what altitude WOULD you go straight to your reserve? Or would you choose to stay with the plane instead of going to your reserve? It was a great learning experience, that's for sure. 2. Happy happy birthday!!!! I hope it's a great one!
  3. (it's great being married):2.5: 1 great 10 way jump, and 1 great (no grips) 22 way jump at the Big Way camp at the Farm. I learned a lot. The 1/2 jump is for a engine out (something to do with prop feathering???) on the Otter at 1800' on jump #3 for the day. Pilot said prepare for a bail out, then gave us the option to get out or stay with the plane. Everyone bailed, and I went to my silver since it was below 2000'. So owed for my 1st reserve ride. I kept my handle, recovered my freebag, and my husband is a rigger so this whole experience is free for me. My reserve flew really well too, I even had a decent landing.
  4. They would probably both get along great with my baby...she's a chocolate lab/golden retriever mix who loves swimming and THEN rolling around in the mud to get that "clean" smell off of her. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  5. LMAO, the Farm is dog heaven!!!! Which is not so good for people who don't like dogs, I guess, but oh well. Your dogs can even go swimming and roll around in the mud! They will make a lot of new friends too.
  6. It's been a while, but I finally have some numbers!!! :4: 4 jumps working on my video skillz. owed for 1st jump wearing a camera suit. I've never floated on anyone in my life, but it was like being on an elevator. Didn't have any trouble carving or anything...and I had a blast!! I think I'm finally ready to start practicing on some tandems. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  7. Skydive East Tennessee is an awesome, brand new dropzone with a top-notch staff and equipment. There is plenty of air conditioned packing in the manifest building, the landing area is huge, the scenery from altitude is awesome with the views of Douglas Lake and the mountains, and the people are awesome! The location couldn't be better, it is just a few minutes off I-40. I am so glad this DZ opened up so close to my home. If you're ever in East Tennessee you should definitely come check us out!
  8. What time should we be there to get started on Saturday morning? Thanks for clarifying that the camp is just for Saturday too.

  11. Well, I talked it over with the hubby and we're going to be there! You and Phree being there definitely tipped the scales for John. Is there a sign-up for balloon slots and/or the Guy Wright big ways? And is Start Skydiving dog friendly (we keep her on a leash and she is very well behaved) or should we leave her at home? Can't wait!!! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  12. NKOTB. What can I say, I was a pre-teen girl in the late 80's. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  13. Seeing as both you and aardvarkeater should wear weights so those of us with "built in arches" can jump with you, of course you wouldn't understand what the baggy (long sleeve) shirts are for!!!! I don't use a baggy shirt, I have baggy sleeves that go on over my jumpsuit arms, from the elbow to the wrist. It effectively does the same thing as a baggy shirt...adds drag and decreases fall rate. I don't want a baggy shirt getting in the way of my handles. Webbed gloves can help slow you down too. But don't worry, you and Kyle should just stick to the weights. That's something I don't know very much about, because I've never have to use them!
  14. Did anyone make it through this latest room?? I'm stuck on the stupid chicken head. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  15. Sweet, thanks for the info! And if you ever find yourself in East Tennessee let me know and we'll go zorbing! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  16. That's the plan! But I'm not sure what to wear...a bathing suit or just normal clothes? How wet do you get in the wet Zorb??? Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  17. LOL, I'll let you know how it goes! I think it'll be fun, and I like getting dizzy! I'm lucky I guess, the only place to go Zorbing in the US is pretty much in my backyard. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091

  19. Good god, woman! If that list is just experimenting I'm overwhelmed with what you're -real- intensions are next year! ltdiver LMAO! Maybe I'll post some pics tonight. I don't think we'll do the potatoes or broccoli or cauliflower again, just took up too much room... And I forgot to mention the peppers. I think we planted 3 varieties. 20. Happy birthday Bolas!!! I hope it's a great one, and that you get all the birthday spankings you desire. Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  21. Let's see, at home we have... Tomatoes (lots and lots, most of the plants are taller than I am!), cucumbers, spinach, lima beans, carrots, leeks, shallots, bush beans, soybeans, yellow squash, asparagus & rhubarb (although those won't be ready to harvest for a few years), okra, giant sunflowers, raspberry & blueberry bushes, and strawberry buckets (although they really didn't produce anything!). We had potatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower but already harvested all of them. The potatoes were going nuts and taking over! Although I wish we could have kept them. For the herbs we have....basil (2 types), oregano, cilantro, dill, sage, rosemary, thyme, parsley (2 types), mint, lavender, chamomile, and I'm sure we have more that I can't remember. I LOVE the herbs. I made homemade chicken/rabbit stock last night using leftovers from the local meat market and my herbs, and it's the best stock I've ever had!!! At work we have....lettuce, turnip greens, mustard greens, more tomatoes & cucumbers & spinach, onions, peas, pumpkins. Last year I lived in an apartment so all i had was a cucumber bucket and a tomato in a container. I tried some basil too, but it didn't do so well. This year we're just experimenting to see what we like to grow and what we'll use. It's been a blast! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  22. You can stop by Skydive East Tennessee on your way back, if you come through Knoxville (I know it isn't directly enroute, but it's not that far out of the way!) We've got 2 182's and a 206, and the dropzone is BRAND NEW...great camping spots too (but there aren't any hook-ups yet), or there is a RV park just down the road. As for the rest of the route, I have no suggestions. I'm sure there are a lot of great DZs though! Enemiga Rodriguez, PMS #369, OrFun #25, Team Dirty Sanchez #116, Pelt Head #29, Muff #4091
  23. LOL, as an engineer, I love this thread! For the most part anyway. At my school about 25% of my (mechanical) engineering class were female. I never heard anyone crying or whining about glass ceilings or lack of respect from the professors due to gender. I don't know, maybe different schools are different.
