Skydive East Tennessee has officially been open for one year! We're celebrating our anniversary by having a boogie over the 4th of July weekend. There will be a Porter for the event, plus our trusty C-206 and C-182. Registration is $25 (or bring a tandem, schedule them with the DZ in advance) and that includes a stellar fireworks show on Saturday night. Camping is allowed on the DZ, and it is a great location. SET is located just East of Knoxville directly off of I-40, between exits 407 and 412. If you've ever wanted to come check it out but haven't yet gotten around to it, this would be a perfect opportunity!

I would advise to STOP JUMPING until you see a doctor and get something figured out. I had an ear drum burst a few years back from jumping during allergy season. It was not pleasant. You wear the belt around your waist. In event of a water landing, you take the belt off and hook it to your rig so it floats and you swim. I guess if you had two, you could hook it to your main if you had a mal and had to chop it. I'd be interested to see if anybody would have the presence of mind to pop the co2 cartridge before cutting away the main. Bolas probably would, he has enough experience with chopping his main. And Bolas, of course you can stay in my dad's condo...he is going to rent it out as an investment property. Soooooo, how much are ya willing to pay?? So, due to previous commitments I will not be able to attend Memorial day weekend at Emerald Coast this year. BUT!!!! My dad just bought a condo on the beach in Orange Beach Alabama, less than 4 miles from the FloraBama bar! He says it's within walking distance, I'm not so sure, but it's close enough for me! This could come in very handy for the boogie next year, or even sooner.

I absolutely agree! I live in East Tennessee, about 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and would definitely drive 3-4 hours to go to a better tunnel. I wouldn't pay money to get in the Flyaway tunnel, to be perfectly honest. It's a tourist attraction, not a great tunnel for skydivers. I think on the riverfront in NKY would be an awesome location for a tunnel! Although I might be a little biased because my family still lives in Cincy.

I flew camera while flyin' my slot in the record attempts... which one applies or do I get both? Micalicious is not exactly right about this. The girls don't get numbers, they get unique names. Guys do get numbers (but not unique names) - 'Lil Smoky numbers if they don't fly video, Sausage Sister numbers if they shoot video on an "official" team 'Licious jump. So you WOULD get a SS number, if we determine that the record jumps were "official" team 'Licious jumps. And there were just too many darn people on those jumps for me to really want to make them "official". BUT...I think you earned a 'Lil Smoky number for your dive through that SCR jump 2 years ago at Skyfest. Or were you wearing your video camera on that jump too?? I'll have to dig out my files and see what number we're up to, and I'll let you know. You can always upgrade to a Sausage sister number at a later date. I've seen some people with booties that are too big for them take the excess material at the back of the heel, bunch it up, and secure a rubber band (one you would use for your line stows) around it. You just have to make sure the rubber band is good and tight. I've heard of people wearing harnesses in the tunnel too, just not sure what type of harness. Have fun, the tunnel rocks!
