  1. +1 Having grown up in a deeply fundamentalist Christian house in the deep south, you simply cannot argue or discuss this with them. Absolute waste of time. BTW, mistercwood's link doesn't really show anything other than a count down to a past date. Any link to the actual debate video? We are all engines of karma
  2. A friend of a friend wasn't fully knocked out with his procedure. Waited until the doctor reached the top of the intestine, then pulled out a ring and asked the doctor to marry him. Legendary story here where I live... We are all engines of karma
  3. ROFLMAO!!! And, he sounds HAPPY!!! We are all engines of karma
  4. Ordered the book from Amazon today. Should be in by Monday. Looking forward to reading it. We are all engines of karma
  5. You have the Ranch, CrossKeys, and Skydive Long Island. The Ranch does a very good job at taking care of their students, plus there will be plenty of similarly experienced jumpers to play with once your off student status. Can't beat having one/two Twin Otters running all day. We are all engines of karma
  6. First, and foremost, I'd like to thank you for a rationale reply. You've always been good about that. And how much does "climate/weather" really impact that? Agreed. And how much does "climate/weather" really impact that? Agreed. How much does US government policy impact that? In the supply of what? Agreed, that would be very bad. In my understanding, half of the CO2 released is absorbed back into the earth. There are many sinks in that equation, the oceans being a big one. But, the oceans are incredibly large. I'm not saying releasing large amounts of CO2 on a continuing basis is ok. It's not. But, the alternatives being advocated by the US/Western democracies are not going to make a bit of difference in that equation. All that will change is more money out of our pockets, and more control in government hands, IMO. Nuclear is the only way to go, be it fission or fusion. Thanks again for a rationale reply. 7. I think we can all agree that pumping large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere is not a good idea. How much warming is due to H2O? About 60 degF, IIRC, and without that we wouldn't be here. CO2 is going to add another 2 degF? And that's going to kill us? I'm skeptical. I'm even more skeptical of any of the solutions being proposed, and funded, by our government. Plus, Al Gore has way too much of his own money in this now to be objective. The Princeton Plasma Physics Lab (PPPL) is close to fusion ignition. They believe another $30B will get them there. Why isn't this in the news more often? Why aren't we all in on this? This would absolutely change everyone's quality of life on this planet, for the better, and forever. To reiterate, pumping this much CO2 into the atmosphere as a way of life isn't a good thing, IMO. But, it's not going to kill us. The next doubling of CO2 is going to take generations of living the same way. And that will be another 2 degF. Where are the adults in this conversation? We are all engines of karma
  8. Sounds like your adrenaline system works Re: you're exit picture, don't be afraid to be more aggressive on the head down out the door. It will expose more of your control surface (your chest and hips) to the relative wind as soon as you're out the door. Just keep your head up, then just fly it We are all engines of karma

  10. OMG, that picture is beyond exciting, in a bad way. Did you live? We are all engines of karma
  11. Yep, I see the same thing. If there was another purpose to this thread, it's not at all clear to me. We are all engines of karma
  12. Why would you let them get that close? We are all engines of karma
  13. OMG, +1 And the public schools in America keep that going, yet they claim it's for the children. Broken, absolutely broken... We are all engines of karma
  14. Wonder why they posted this on liveleak? We are all engines of karma
  15. Outstanding video. I can only hope the guy grabbing the gas hose in the bottom plane had all of his hand signals worked out with the top plane We are all engines of karma
  16. A truly brilliant mind that has impacted this planet far more than most know. Travesty what happened to him. We are all engines of karma

  18. I have a friend who is in the credit card business, servicing small vendors. He keeps saying there is a huge potential for anyone who can effectively figure this out. He also thinks Square is DOA. Not going to fly, especially with 2.5% surcharge. We are all engines of karma
  19. Re: low, are you referring to the 3K chop? I have a D-license
  20. Not a single person in that picture has their finger on the trigger, nor are THEY POINTING the weapons at anyone. Clearly, they've been taught about guns properly. I expect that when any of those people in that picture actually put their finger on the trigger, they'll hit their target. And you won't want to be on the receiving end of that. These folks will not need police, or any other government entity, to protect themselves. That is what the 2nd amendment is about, IMO, and that family is exercising their Constitutionally protected rights to do so. It really is an easy thing to spot, but only if you know what you're talking about. Personally, I don't expect to see any more gun posts from you, jcalor. And if I do, you have my word I won't make any comments. Why bother? One last word. Not a single female in that picture will ever kill a child, not even a unborn one. And the males in that picture will provide for their family, with no government assistance. It is the basis for a civil society. We are all engines of karma
  21. This is the best idea I've seen on learning how to spot. But, what 200 jump person will have the balls to do this? I had around 500 jumps. Jumping an old container, and I had packed the bag too tight, with a loose closing loop. Front floating on a 2-way out of a beech that day. The person in the door suddenly had an absolute look of horror in their eyes. Looked behind me, my bag was out, and the beech tail was 5 feet lower than my bag. Immediately stepped off the rail, had a plate of spaghetti above me, got stable, and pulled my pilot chute around 11K. Big, big time bag lock, because everything was still a plate of spaghetti. I'm 11,000 feet above the earth, standing straight up at 100+ mph, and I didn't want to cut away, because I could not afford a new canopy. Spent a good 5 minutes doing two things: 1) Keep the risers from twisting up to the back of my neck. Absolutely E-ticket ride, like I've never had since. 2) Looking at the roads, and other landmarks, because it seemed like the right thing to do. I cut away around 3K, opened my square reserve, landed way out in the middle of a wine/grape field, and spent the rest of the day looking for my canopy. Thank God Stretch knew me, and spent another week looking for it. He found it, and I bought him a 6-pack of beer. Spotting is good. We are all engines of karma
  22. May have kicked in? If you're going to rely on electronics, you need to test them on a regular basis, IMO. We are all engines of karma
  23. Please post if anything comes out of this. Thanks. We are all engines of karma
  24. +1... Personally, I look for the roads... Look out the door, and take one road out to the horizon, then stick your head out the door and take another road to the horizon. Look down, and see where things are intersecting. That will put you close most times, assuming you know the roads... We are all engines of karma
