No, don't do that, please. I've only just started coming back to this forum, and you're one of the few posters I read. You leaving would be another great loss to this forum. We are all engines of karma

Yep, luckiest day of my life, so far... except for the day my wife said she would marry me. I was dating her at the time, and I've only just told her this story. As the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns said, "Oh to perceive ourselves as others perceive us". What a skill. Arrogance is senseless. We are all engines of karma

Look at the USPA directory, and find a dropzone near you. Feel free to come back to this site, and ask opinions of the dropzone's safety and efficacy. You can't go wrong. Enjoy. I'm sure it will be a life changing experience for you, as it has been for many people on this site. We are all engines of karma

Had about 700 jumps, and was doing 4-way at an unnamed dropzone jumping another guy's rig. We only got 10k in the Cessna, broke off low, and I couldn't get the pug out. As I'm trying the 3rd time, one of the voices in my head said "Check the ground". A herd of sheep was getting out of the way. Must have been in the saddle under 200'. I can still see that herd of sheep, every time I think about it. Didn't even look for the reserve handle, just shot it as hard as I could, and fortunately, it worked. Everybody thought I died. I was too busy doing something about it to realize how f'ing stupid I was, at that time. Never, ever, again. We are all engines of karma

So how old is too old for a used rig?
StreetScooby replied to scottf1887's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
+1... One of my vectors is now 21 years old. After the 3rd jump, it's getting pretty loose. Feels like I'm forgetting something when I get on the plane . Last jump I made with it, the right shoulder strap came off my shoulder when I sat up to dump. Caught my attention pretty good, chest strap came into active play at that time. Definitely getting a new rig... We are all engines of karma -
Family Says They Did Tip Gay Server, Didn't Leave Note
StreetScooby replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in Speakers Corner
This was in the local newspapers quite a bit today, here in Westchester County, NY. Apparently, the female/gay waitress went to a high school somewhere close by. Numerous people have come forth claiming she lies as a way of life. The family is responding because they're receiving enormous negative coverage on facebook, and actual death threats. The female/gay waitress has been making money from contributions via facebook. She is no longer "scheduled to work" at the restaurant. Not that I give a shit. We are all engines of karma -

What's your personal wind limit?
StreetScooby replied to Chelseaflies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depends on the dropzone. One of my dropzones has a relatively narrow runway surrounded by 50 foot trees. If the wind isn't coming down the runway, I stand on vultures row when the wind is 15mph or above. Another dropzone is wide open (i.e., no trees or structures). There, if the plane is flying I'll get on. Know your limits, that's what is important. Sounds like you're doing that. We are all engines of karma -
I have gone through raging periods of insomnia in my life. Here's what I've found: 1) Ambien This can be a highly addicted drug. Using my Zeo, you get very little deep sleep with this. Use this as a last resort. 2) Lifestyle No alcohol, and hard workouts. This works great. 3) GABA Natural amino acid. Ambien activates these brain receptors. Just give your body this instead. http://www.amazon.com/GNC-GABA-750-Capsules-90/dp/B001KYO4WA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1383490948&sr=8-4&keywords=GABA+750 Good luck, We are all engines of karma

Here's a real life story... I have a good friend who is 64. He pays for his medical insurance himself, or will until 31-Dec, when his policy is cancelled. He called up his insurer (Blue Cross/Anthem?) and said he'd pay double, but there is no policy for him to purchase. He's a heart patient. Had open heart surgery several years ago, and sees his doctor on a regular basis. His local hospital (the only one around for 60 miles) will not be participating in ObamaCare, nor will his doctor. If he has a heart attack on 4-Jan, he's dead. The only alternative is to go to the hospital, and receive a massive bill that he can't pay. The hospital will seize his remaining assets. He's not going to allow that. I have another long time friend who is over 60. He and his wife, who have been married for decades, are considering a paper divorce because they won't be able to afford the insurance filing as a married couple. Separately, they will fall into a completely different category. This is truly messed up, and is hurting real people. We are all engines of karma

A Canadian's Version of David Letterman's Top 10. 10) Only in America ...could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event. 9) Only in America ...could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black. 8) Only in America ...could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes. 7) Only in America ...can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash. 6) Only in America...would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens. 5) Only in America ...could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists." 4) Only in America ...could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote. 3) Only in America ...could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company ( MarathonOil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike). 2) Only in America ...could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money. 1) Only in America ...could the rich people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.
