  1. Tina. Youve finally found us on web.. This is a fun site and keeps me occupied until the weekend.. Isnt packing fun I think it makes the dive so much better, knowing that whatever you just packed has to open then after pulling that ripcord waiting to see what on earth is going to happen.i.e.. line twists, on heading , a back breaker.. its all part of the dive..
  2. Well i was at the DZ last weekend and someone was showing me a rig they were selling a Vector containor with a Triathalon 190 Fits perfect and i weigh about 180-190 so the size of the main is about right and i am still on a student Dolphin with a skymaster 230. So anything else would be better.. It does have a cypress and has less than 200 jumps on it. Money's a problem but i think i talked a family member to loan me the money i am pretty sure he will.. I have no idea about either one of these(vector/triathalon) any feed back on the rig would be helpful.. oh there asking $3300 i might be able to talk them down a little.. Blue skies joe
  3. Sorry for any packers but i have to pack every rig i jump. I still rent my own gear so the first jump of the day is packed by a packer and they usually do a great job but i like to know just how everything is on every jump and if anything happens then its my fault i took the packing class at the DZ and they taught me pretty well .....
  4. Bigcountry The best thing to do is start as soon as possible and keep going.. Its probably the best experience youll ever have and every jump gets better.. As far as the money goes.. hey your still young After that first jump the jumps get alot cheaper if you go static line.. im not sure how much every jump aff is .. but anyway have a blast and go jump
  5. Jumped 59 times so far my first was memorial day weekend 2001..
  6. Anyone superstitious....... Like do any of you follow a certain pattern or where a special item with every jump... When i was a student i would pick the same helmet for every jump and the same pair of shoes.. I dont know why but i thought if it did the trick the first time then i shouldnt change it.. Now that i have my license and most of my own gear i dont usually have something that i wear or do before each jumping.. although i do rent the same rig every week but thats just for packing purposes....So whats yours.????????? Joe
  7. I did do the pull up cord trick but i tied it around around the shoulder straps on the harness next to the three rings but not through them , does going through them work better i can see how that might keep it mor even.. Thanks
  8. So im packing today and i remember one time looking at this pile of lines that some how i managed to stow and just shook my head thinking that there is no way on earth that this could possibly open right..maybe i should let a packer repack for me.. well i have to use the reserve some time. so i closed it up and manifested... well to my shock everything opened great and on heading... but i must tell you all about this.. I was packing after my 2nd dive stowed the lines down to about a foot or so from the risers and realized the one riser had about a foot more line than the other they were uneven.. My first thought is well this no problem ill just close it up and hope for the best just like in the previous situation..but i had a bad feeling about this so decided to dump it out and repack.. later on in the day someone else had the same problem ony he closed his up. he definetly regreted the situation. his rigger gets a free bottle... so lesson learned if it doesnt feel right re do it. it just might save ya..
  9. What a day..Made it out to the DZ about 8:30 Did 7 jumps all day awsome. Jump # 1. 9-way free load what can i say the load was free.. 2. 4-way with Anne(Fallinwoman) very fun dive.. as always with anne. 3. 3-way open accordian switching slots, hit 13 pts thats a record for me.. 4. 2-way closed accordian switching side bodies. 14 pts..wow that was more than the last.. 5. Solo.. BLAHHHH i hate solos but any jump is better than no jump. 6. 5-way only hit 3 pts but always fun 7. 5-way built the first pt then everyone changed speed and was hard to stay together but a great learning experience.. So how did everyone elses weekend go.. joe
  10. Sounds awsome i cant wait to do my first night jump i cant even imagin what its like.. hows the landing i would think it might be a little harder to judge the flare.
  11. Safety is the number one concern for any skydive....Everyone has a different comfort level.which should be respected you dont plan a break off altitude for no reason you do so every one knows stop the dive turn track and pull at a safe and comfy alti.. it makes everyone have a better time and lets us all enjoy the sport....always play safe...
  12. 0:7:0 7 in one day not to bad, but the first 0 , well that hasnt changed for quit some time.. especially since i devote all of my time to working throughout the week just to jump on sundays..

  14. Anne Good to be figuring it out its definitely a good thing to know why than to not know why helpful info to prevent it from happening again.. .. Look forward to jumping with you again that furst jump was fun... Joe
  15. i Watched him singing but the sound was muted for i was at work at the time.. SO i missed it i geuss.. now i wish i would havee heard it sounds pretty cool. and the Yankees win another just when i thought arizona was going to win.. I love the yankees but would love to see Arizona win...
  16. Thats a great story.. im sure sharing stories about it through the rest of the day was just as exciting.. for some reason i think an emergency exit would be fun.. as long as the plane didnt really go down and no one was hurt.. intenetional emergency exit jump runs would be a great training idea.. IF noone knew but the pilot and the DZO fly over the DZ at 4000 and have the pilot tell everyone to get out theres an problem with teh plane.that would be great to see how people would handle the situation..
  17. You have every right to be concerend especially with all the reports of terrorist acts more likely to happen this week than before.. But this may be just my opinion but we have to continue about our normal lives our else we hae let terrorism win. I would be more worried about chemical terrorism alot more than another hijacked airplane. Just my thought s Joe
  18. T&A... Hey stop teasing us. dont you know who your talking to out hear. The more the merrier(sp)
  19. Anne Glad your feeling better. That was a scary moment in the plane..we werent sure what had happened. It was a very tight fit on that load... with stuffy air.. im sure it was nothing more than that.. SO how did the rest of the day go for you did you fell better throuhgout the rest of the night.. How was the party.. About oweing beer.. well I have never landed in any plane before the first plane i was ever in i jumped out of so i geuss thats beer for finally having to land.. I wish the plane went up to alti as fast as it comes down,... then life would be great.. Hope your feeling better Anne. Joe
  20. Anne, I thought we were only allowed to talk about beer.. Well actually i am a huge wine fan as well.. i would take wine over any other drink anyday of the week.. One of the restaraunts that i work at has over 140 wines on the list. So i get to try new wines all the time.. I love a good zin. but lately have been trying abit of everything. alot of blended wines shiraz, sangiovese... and the traditional chianti cab and merlot.. I prefer red over white.. The best year for red wines in quite some time is 1997 so if you happen to find a red from 97 it might be worth the extra $. If you like white wines any year is just fine just because its a 99 or 2000 doesnt mean that its to young whites dont age as well as reds, WEll just my 2 cents... joe
  21. Hey anne Thats great you got your gear back intime for the weekend boogie. Ill see you on saturday.. I talked my boss into letting me come in 2 hours late so i can get a couple extra jumps in on sat.
  22. Hey anne sounds like a fun weekend. Its about time we finally got to jump together. So how low were you on your low pull... have your heard about your gear yet if it will be in for the weekend. Ill be out there on sat morn. And for everyone who might not believe her on the landings i witnessed several. great job anne.
  23. Only one. The same dolphin i jumped as a student and probably will continue to jump for the next year or so until i can get my own rig..
  24. I just turned 22 and am thinking back on the last couple of years and thinking, damn what a waste of time. Aside from skydiving i have done absoluely nothing productive. I never travel or do anything special. Ive worked te same job since i have been 16. I have worked 50 hrs a week since i turned 18 and finished highschool. Since i left highschool i have always thought about joining the millitary, Army or Airforce. i just never could get myself to commit. Now i am very seriously thinking of joing, I am tired of the boring job at the resaraunt and want to do something different. So anybody out there who has been in the service please help. 1. Do you have time to make any fun jumps in the service. 2. Is it worth your time and commitment. 3. Am i too old (22). And any other general insight would really help, I am really thinking about going to see a recruitor early next week. Thanks for all your time and help. Blue skies Joe
  25. Marc Can i just say. uhhhhhh nevermind, i dont even know what you just said.
