I've seen a few posts about the new year. Would anyone like to share highlights of 2005? It was one of the best years of my life. My husband and I celebrated our ten year anniversary by renewing our vows. I also celebrated the fact that I could still wear my dress....and be able to breath just fine! I found skydiving and a new lease on life. My husband got his dream job and they offered him a transfer back to the San Antonio area. Not only do we LOVE the area but my mom lives out there! ...and of course I'll save the best for last...we have two beautiful, healthy boys! Well, I learned on static line so no I'm not afraid of hop n' pops at all. I suppose I met the license requirement when I did my my first live pull. ***The parents don't discipline the kids, make them do their homework, check their test scores, etc. The blame wrongly goes to the teacher. It is the student and the parents who are responsible. __________________________________________________ ...and this makes it that much more difficult for the GOOD students to get anything out of public education. My husband used to teach high school and he wasted more time with the "problem" kids and therefore had less time for those who were worth their salt. But of course the parents of the "problem" kids were always there to back him up....YEAH RIGHT! As for public and private school....I'm one of the fortunate ones who has been able to take advantage of the third option....HOMESCHOOLING! It has worked out quite well for us. I especially loved the part where she left a certain message on your answering machine and what you did with that message! Boy, Rocke almost choked on his chicken when you told that story. ***that Eric Butts is my skydiving hero. __________________________________________________ Great choice! He took me on my first tandem so I'll never forget him. I'm pretty new to the sport but there are a couple of jumpers who have really made a difference in my short skydiving adventure. The first one is my instructor, Rocke. That is what we call him so I'm not even sure what his first name is. He has been with me since the beginning of my Static line training; Hugging me when I did something great and knocking some sense into me when I screwed up! I admire his honesty and passion for skydiving. The other jumper has been my "voice of reason" througout my training and is well-known on here. Believe it or not, it's Walt Appel. He has put this sport in perspective many times for me when I thought I was going to lose it, and has provided a TON of very useful information. This past Saturday I finally got to meet him and make a couple of jumps with him. He's a lot of fun to hang out with and even taught me how to pack! Some of you are probably laughing right about now but it's all true Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
