  1. yup in that one particular case in a roundabout way they found that for this acse there was no abuse... So, how about all the other cases?
  2. I agree. Guess he shouldn't have put all his eggs in one basket....the gravy train does run dry at some point.
  3. My dear Steel, I am sure you know exactly how many seats were still available on the $20 bus out of town in the last days before the hurricane hit?
  4. But the flood was a result of the hurricane...no hurricane, no flood (at least in this case) it will be interesting to see how this will play out in court.
  5. I think that discussion doesn't get as vocal because there are no democrats on this board that feel the need to blindly follow them and claim they have no blame at all. There is at least one person who has outright stated it, and many who have inferred it, that believe Bush isn't to blame at all, which makes for a far more interesting discussion. (and to finish in the same "light" as your post: But, I can understand that, republicans are programmed to blindly follow and not ask questions)
  6. I think mistakes were made at all levels of government. I don't think a governor can get fired? Can they? If she is elligable for re-election, I guess time will tell if she gets "fired" or not. She did however realize, before the hurricane hit, that she was out of her league, needed help and asked for it on the 27th of August. It just took brownie a little while to figure out there were people stranded in the convention centre. Which is very easy to do, I mean not even the media had reported it at all....
  7. So, the fact that he appointed some one who is incompetent has no bearing on any of this?
  8. yeah looks like he even gave $30 million to residents of an area that wasn't even hit by a hurricane. The president's name is Bush, the Governor of Florida is a Bush and he is a Bush appointee. Looks like he failed his first real test.... (plus you would think that if he had the hurricane practice in Florida he would have learned from that...) But, I also agree that Brown will be used as the fall guy for the federal government.
  9. Problem is, non of the qualifications had anything to do with emergency management. The one that did turned out to be false. I would assume they do some background checks on the guy who is going to head FEMA. Some one only saw what they wanted to see...sounds aweful familiar..... Edited to add: The real question is: do you think Bush would ever admit that it was a mistake to appoint brown?
  10. Hey Rush, you still haven't answered my question: Did you mean Bush is not to blame at all, or did you mean he is not the only one to blame? And, you are basing all this on an opinion piece based on the opinion of one guardsman?
  11. I don't determine that. That is better, we were indeed talking about perceptions. Good for you that you are proud to be American and stand by your president. My perception is your president isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
  12. Why don't you start a hypothetical question about how you could blow up the white house with a nuclear weapon. See how your employer will like the interruption when the Secret Service shows up to ask you some questions. By the way, if Fox News is now able to broadcast, how is that censorship? Thirdly, Land of the Free is not Canada's tag line...it is that of the US. I feel free enough in Canada and Fox News is easily accessible via the Internet, specially since Canada is one of the most "wired" countries in the world.
  13. but I though Brownie was doing a great job? I wonder what Bush would say if you asked him if he made a mistake saying that?
  14. Now you are saying two differnt things....earlier in this thread you said Bush isn't at fault at all. Which one is it, no fault at all, or maybe a little fault?
  15. I don't get that either... he is guilty, he should lose that privelage for life....
  16. Offers from many countries were denied. Bush's initial response to Canada offering aid was saying that the US wasn't ready yet for aid from Canada.
  17. Interlaken is by far one of the most beautiful spots in Europe. I have had the luck to spend at least a month a year in that area while growing up. I still have family there too....
  18. I can't state that as fact, but it looks likely.
  19. According to your white house news release found here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050827-1.html mind you, that was on August 27th prior to the hurricane hitting..maybe he was on vacaiton or something... further: They had plans.... they didnt use there plans, people died, federal had to come in because LOCAL/STATE did NOT do their job.*** Are you saying that the federal government would not have neededto help with the largest natural disaster in your history if the state and local government had followed their plan better, or had a better plan?
  20. nope, the white house website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/08/20050827-1.html Edited to add: Interestingly enough the disaster declaration for the Sept 11 terrorist attack in New York was not issued until Sept 18, but back dated and made effective back to Sept 11, 2001. Same wording in the declaration....
  21. yeah they all reported the mayor saying that.....just because the mayor said that doesn't make it true. Even if all media reported that the mayor said that. I am not disputing with you that the mayor said what he did....just not agreeing with you that what the mayor was saying is the truth and 100% factual.....
  22. You are basing this "fact" on second hand information from a supposed conversation as relayed by the mayor who you are also critizing for being incompetent in his job.... You are right, that is very well documented....
  23. Nope, I would not expect him to go door to door. If I were an American I would expect him though to appoint some one to head up FEMA with experience in Emergency Management in stead of experience in dealing with Arab horse shows. I would expect him to ensure FEMA could act quickly to the largest natural disaster in your history. Would ensure that all is being done on a federal level for the citizens of his country, since the State had already admitted they could not deal with it prior to the hurricane even hitting.
  24. A news snippet of the mayor (whose actions are pretty suspect to begin with) is all you have. I believe Hearsay is also not permitted in a court of law.... Show me where Blanco did not ask for federal help on August 27th. Show me where the president did not declare a state of emergency on August 27th. Show me how that did not authorize FEMA to act....
