Sure, if you send me the money I will need to get politicians to tell you they did not react fast enough because it wasn't an election year.
-
okay, so the local government and state government fucked up...fine. However, that doesn't take away that the federal government fucked up as well, specially FEMA who had the authorization to react on August 27th.
-
She refused for the federal government to take control, she did not refuse their help. read beyond the sensationalizing headline... At that time the State of Emergency had already been issued and FEMA and other federal organizations should have been in full operation....even if the federal government did not have overal control of the evacuation.
-
that is the online Wikipedia global definition of a state of emergence and not US specific, for your information. Second, that would only address the lead up to the disaster. I have already agreed with you that local and state government either did not do enough, or their plan was faulty (Plan should be reviewed by FEMA by the way as the experts). All procuderes for the federal government to help immediately following the disaster were taken care off and followed as per the Stafford Act. Yet the federal organizations were nowhere to be found following the disaster.....
-
I can see that, so eitehr the plan was faulty, or they fucked up implementing it prior to the hurricane hitting...fine.. It is clear though that the state asked for federal help because they already knew they did not have the resources to deal with the aftermath...they asked for that help prior to the hurricane hitting. I think it is pretty clear that FEMA or any other federal organization was in no way ready or did they react quickly.....
-
The letter sent by governor Blanco to the president through the Regional FEMA office as per the Stafford Act. I mean, you are so vocal about them not asking for assistance that I am assuming you actually checked this wasn't done right?!?!? try google....
-
State asked for federal help on the 27th of August...prior to the Hurricane hitting. That was acknowledged by your beloved leader on that same day and a state of emergency was declared. That is all the federal agencies needed. So, the procedural stuff was all taken care of prior to the hurricane hitting... yet, it seems they still fucked up.
-
The request was made on August 27th, prior to the hurricane hitting. The state of emergency was declared on August 27th as well by the president, all under the Stafford Act. The paperwork was all done, procedures were followed, just the action part didn't work out. That part is the POTUS and his department heads....
-
nope, but that order, together with the disaster declaration authorizes the federal organizationas to get involved....
-
You are saying that the President issued the order, but then has no responsibility to follow up on that? Must be nice to make demands without being able to be held accountable for them....
-
Exactly and in that declaration he mentioned the Stafford Act, didn't he. Exactly as it should be done. That decleration then authorizes FEMA to act. So, FEMA was authorized to act prior to the Hurricane hitting. Yet, it seems there was quite the delay in FEMA acting after the hurricane hitting.
-
That still doesn't prove they were operational when the picture was taken, or that gas was available in the main holding tank.... Obviously the city did do something since many were evacuated. I agree that they probably did not do enough. I think the same can be said for FEMA. I think I am going to read up on Arabian Horse shows, looks like it is quite the career path.
-
So, Bush can declare a state of emergency, but federal agencies can't do anything...even though a state of emergency has been issued?
-
really, you can see from that picture that gas was in the tank? You can see from that picture that the engines worked?
-
Now English isn't my first language, but if you read the sentence below, it is pretty clear that at play is how that document gets "transported". It is not just "any document containing" but it also has to be "deposited for conveyance via mail or deposited at a post office or any letter carrier for delivery". See I have bolded for you the part of the sentence you may have overlooked.
-
This is looking more like the classis finger pointing between right and left....But Clinton did this... I agree that the local and state governments fucked up....and so did FEMA. I have posted earlier that situations like this indicate who the greta, or even good leaders are. Nobody in the federal government, including your president are showing any of that.
-
I would have a hard time defining the internet as a letter carrier.
-
I wonder what the definition of Police State is? So much for Land of the Free....
-
Too funny..... People here crack me up with their "fact" mantra...proof... hey hooknswoop...prove to me there is anybody who could have left, but decided not to leave and is now complaining about the rescue. Prove to me there is even one.
-
How would you like that evidence? Maybe a sound bite from a politician saying that he wasn't going to respond as quickly since it wasn't an election year? I don't think it is much of a strecth to say politicians are generally much more quickly to respond during an election year.
-
I didn't realize the concept of a question (as indicated by the question mark) is that difficult....
-
Do you mean you hope the Secret Service will read this and come knock on her doors? Has America come to that?
-
there you go, fixed it for you....

If there are no laws, everybody is a law abiding citizen.
