  1. Which brings us to the question: What level of governmental interference changes capitalism into communism?
  2. I don't understand what your problem is. Just a success story of capitalism and survival of the fittest. You wouldn't want government to interfer with business would you?
  3. yeah, but John, don't you know, when they circumvent the rules it is because that is cheaper than going through a bid process and doing all the paperwork involved. It has nothing to do with giving work to buddies. You obviously have no clue about federal or governmental procurement...
  4. I could be sued for firing some one illegally high on LSD.
  5. and those that stayed behind were stupid and deserved what they got.
  6. Do you feel the same for those who live in tornado alley? or how about living on or near a vault line?
  7. actually the shirt is silk and is one of my favourites.
  8. four months from now Fran Townsend will report that after intense investigation, all criticism was unfounded. The little bit that was true was already addressed when Brownie got sacked...now please move along, nothing to see here.... Unfortunately, she won't say in her report: Unfortunately, our President was not bright enough to realize an Arabian horse judge was not the best person to run FEMA.
  9. Would have been nice if your president could have figured some of this out before he sent in the troops, killed a few thousand and smiled on the deck of a aircraft carrier telling the world the mission was accomplished.....
  10. Really? Where did I say that? John, are you making things up again? Pluralis Majestatus, or are you actually speaking for other people? I agree. I don't think America is evil at all. They are just doing what is best for themselves or their leaders, or at least what their leaders perceive to be best for themselves or their country. They are not doing it for the greater good of the world though.
  11. I love John Cleese's sense of humour. Monty Python, Faulty Towers, now that is comedy.
  12. I agree...but many of the comments from your big three in the past have certainly had that feel to them. And that is what I was addressing.
  13. Lesson learned, plus it is the president's home state, no federal employee would want to fuck up in that field.
  14. Has nothing to dow ith hate. You are slamming another poster saying he knows nothing about the federal processes etc and that it is sometimes cheaper to circumvent the rules and just hand out no-bid contracts. Just pointing out that these rules are in place for more reasons than just getting the lowest cost. They are more so in place to try and ensure contracts don't only go to buddies and political allies. The reason I bring that up is because of the lessons learned from the sponsoship scandal and the federal liberal party here in Canada. But I know it is easier to stick to your preconceived assumptions.
  15. It is hard to change the attitude of: we are american and we can do whatever we want and the rest of the world will follow.
  16. See, I think this situation would ahve been much better if citizens had been armed. At least then they could have just shot the sherrif and his deputies so they could save themselves. This was a life endangering situation created by a government entity, exactly what your founding fathers had in mind for the citizens to be able to protect themselves from. All that was needed here was some firepower.
  17. yeah especially when it goes to a contractor who has made some nice contributions to your campaign. We all know these "rules" are in place to get the lowest cost, it has nothing to do with kick backs, political favours or anything like that
  18. John, define assault. Then, is there any other form of violence? How can you possibly get to that conclusion?
  19. Russia attacking germany? That is on the same laughable level as you actually thinking the US would be able to do anything about China invading Taiwan.... If you are going to use that line though. How many Tutsis were supplied weapons while they were systematically slaughtered by Hutus? Ohh, how about all the people in Darfur getting slaughtered and killed by the Janjaweeb, how many of those are you supplying arms to? The holier than thou and we do it for the good of the world attitude is both dilusional and sickening.
  20. John, you don't find it odd that the local militia would control the detention centre?
  21. well good for you..... assuming your house is paid for come retirement, that is a lot of money.....are you talking before or after taxes? Or are you just boasting and making things up?
  22. Ahhh yes, we fucked up the natives in America, why learn from any of that....
  23. Cina, what do those commie bastards know about economy and trade and money......
  24. If I convince my executive committee to hire a guy as one of my senior department heads the approve him. But if he turns out to be a real idiot then I get the blame for it, since I recommended him. I think it is pretty obvious that Bush used the FEMA position as a political thank you, to get one of his buddies employed and it came back to bite him in the ass. Unfortunately some people ended up dead because of it (and no he is not only one to be blamed for that), but hey what is a couple of dead bodies between buddies......
