Seriously, WHY are all the Mods here Ultra Libs?
SkyDekker replied to skyrider's topic in Speakers Corner
From what I see on these forums, a libertarian is a conservative without the balls to stand up for the whole platform. They are generally very vocal against the left, yet when a misstep is pointed out on the right they state: "I am a Libertarian" -
Lawrocket, lets go back to this equation you like to throw around: Cost - Quality - Quantity I believe your statement was that one has to suffer to get the other two. Turns out you have bad quality and high costs, but you have a fair amount of it. Are you now advocating to close hospitals to get cost and quality in order? How do you propose to improve this, keeping your equation in mind.

Except that in this case illegal immigration will shift from Mexicans to coke and crackheads around the world. Drug users tend to bring with it lots of medical issues. This will drive the now legal drugs to be heavily taxed. This heavy taxation will ensure that there continues to be a significant black market for drugs. Now you still have the drug smuggling issue and all the crime that comes with it, and you have the majority of coke and crack heads living in the US. I don't understand how people see this is a viable option.

UK: Preacher arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin
SkyDekker replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
So, you do not agree with any restriction of speech? You are okay with the proverbial "fire" in a crowded theatre? You are okay with the ellimination of copyright laws? You are okay with the ellimination of slander laws? What about Chaplinski Vs. New Hampshire? -

Actually the law makes clear examptions for statements of truth, subjects of public debate and religeous doctrine. I further have enough fate in our judicial system to make the determination on whether something does fall under the Hate Speech restrictions. There is no factual evidence of this slippery slope you are describing in Canada. The Hate Speech laws fall under the so called "reasonable limits clause" of Section One of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This prescribes that any restriciton is justified in a free and democratic society. -

As are you Turtle, if that is the definition you want to go by. I certianly don't see you complaining about the US restriction on free speech. -

But that is not the restriction. The restriction is on willful promotion of hatred against an identifiable group. I am okay with that. -
Or it could spread hate and anger people further. Which one do you think has happened?

And on that you and I disagree. In Canada somebody would not be able to stand on a street corner and proclaim all niggers are stupid and should not be allowed to ride on a bus. I see that as a positive. The hate speech, spewed by the Westboro bunch would not be allowed. I can't find an example on the negative side. -

Obviously not all of them. You should know, we have had a discussion about this before. You are against any restriction on free speech, I am not. So, no real need to have this discussion again, don't think eithe rone of us will change their belief on this issue. -
because those refs are cheaper too buy. Like the penalty call for the Italians. Or the call that wiped out winning goal for the US. I have a hard time believing people truly think these calls are a coincidence. Every tournament is rife with calls that go in favour of the "old Boys".

Because of the logic and reasoning skills used in that post. They are either really poor or you are deliberatly trying to be obtuse.

Sure does, and I am proud to say that the actions of the Westboro Church would not be legal in Canada. -
Dodge is a truck. billvon is a duck. Redirect is a way, For a lawyer to say, Go fuck yourself all day. (Sorry, I just couldn't help myself on that one. BTW, that's the royal "yourself" and not you specifically Divot.) Wow . . . So a mod can say go fuck yourself in a royal way and it isn't a PA - good to know. Wow, your teachers must have really sucked.

Wow.....just WOW.....an American conservative talking like a communist. Insinuating that the state is responsible to uphold the value of a company because it impacts the populace. Markets love certainty. stock is up now that an amount has been established. BP's legal liability is capped at $75 million. I wonder what they were promised or told to blow that far past that amount.

What do you think of these immigration laws?
SkyDekker replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
In most cases those hotels and properties are owned through a Mexican company. -
Because it would be slander and not libel.
-
It is impossible for Obama to get sued for libel for anything he says.
-
For what?

I don't believe in the end justifying the means. The rest of your post seems pretty ill informed.
