Presidential terms do not run Jan 1 to Dec 31, so it is not 8 years. I think that was the point.

Yes I would. Wouldn't have the wonderful woman I have in my life if I didn't.

Watch: What a Legal Pot Economy Would Look Like
SkyDekker replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
They just need to look in the mirror and smile. (wonder what rhino is up to these days) -
One of the posters claimed she had left her faith because at age 8 she felt her mind was tuned to logic and science. I stated that I find that silly, logic and science do not preclude the existence of a supernatural being. It is just as silly as not believing in logic and science because your mind is tuned to (insert any religion).
-
Sounds like you should have voted for him then. You could use a president who knows how to save money.
-
Not more logical. It shows a narrower focus. It is more logical (and honest) to replace "in all likelihood can" with "might". It keeps an open mind.
-
No The argument you just invented for me is indeed very weak. It also wasn't my argument as put forward in my original post and repeated in posts therafter.
-
The assumption that what is not yet scientifically proven, can be scientifically proven.
-
Funny enough you just summed up my point. Both theology and science have assumptions at the base of it. One does not fully exclude the other. I am open to the idea they can coexist, in some form. Hence the statement: I believe in science, therefor I do not believe in God is silly. (which was my original point)
-
I agree with you (wasn't that clear already?) I just further believe that there was a reason why it played out like this from the General's perspective. I will likely never know what that reason is.
-
Great, so what exactly is the proof behind the "Big Bang"? How about the proof of what is beyond what we can currently observe in the universe? There are a lot of forces that science cannot explain or provide proof for. This doesn't prove there is a supernatural being, it also doesn't disprove it. Which brings us back to my original post. Stating that you don't believe in a God or supernatural being because your mind relies on logic and science is silly. They all have assumptions at the very core of it.

Not sure, but has he stated that people should pay more taxes than they lawfully have to? I don't beleve in tax cuts in the current economic climate. But that doesn't mean I think people should pay more taxes than what is law. Not sure how that would be hypocritical?
-
so we have a he said, she said about one small portion of my post. Doesn't take anything away from the rest. I find it extremely hard to believe this was a mistake on the General's part.
-
Great. Can you give me the logical and scientific explanation of "The Big Bang"? There is so much we don't know about the creation of the universe and all the bodies. I find it odd that one can use science as proof that a supernatural body does not exist.

from http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100622/ts_ynews/ynews_ts2759 from http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/06/22/general.mcchrystal.obama.apology/index.html Proof read may be too strong. But it sure sounds like he had the opportunity to retract and didn't.
-
Right, which is also completely immaterial to the issue. He was present when the comments were made. He was allowed to proof read the piece before it went to press and was offered to make changes. He knew exactly what would happen and what he was doing. He wasn't caught by surprise, he actually gave a "heads up" just before the article went public. The interesting part isn't if he actually said something himself. What is interesting is what would let him allow this to happen. What was he trying to accomplish. There is no doubt in my mind that this was a "mistake". It was deliberate and I am sure was supposed to have some purpose.

You guys have been spending like drunken sailors in a brothel, for the last 10 years. Did you really think you didn't have to pay your share at some point? How is this at all a surprise?

John, I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's struggles, pain and uncertainties. I can only imagine the toll it takes on you and your family. My thoughts are with you.

Just remember, it has nothing to do with racism. Really?

Let me sum up the other side's argument: If it is against wetbacks, who cares that neo-nazis are involved. They are going after mexicans, it's all good. -
What if your date pays, but then tells you the dinner will be expensed on their corporate expense account?

While the US is fighting about how much control is required in a free market and trying to recover from the disaster of an uncontroled market, China has been buying energy companies. One could easily foresee a future where the Chinese companies just decide to supply China before supplying the US. (Or to supply China at 50% of the cost they supply the US at)

He is addressing a representative of the British government regarding a decision the British government was involved in. Who would you suggest he talks to?

Professor fights for right to sex with coeds

JR is ignoring my question. Is he a teabagger? Maybe, since he is not answering, he is a closet teabagger? -
I agree. However, sex and racial discussions should not be part of pleasantries. It is just too easy to offend or have a misunderstanding.
