I actually didnt know that either (shocking huh). But without all the variables, what is an average time? Lets make it easy, If I was to jump the balloon at WFFC with a base rig (sorry couln't resist) from 5000ft, how long would it take to hit terminal. I thought of this too, but dont you hit terminal faster since you are exiting the aircraft at the same speed its flying. You not in dead air, so it would seem to me that you would take longer on a base jump to hit terminal then exiting an aircraft. And I could be wrong, just really curiouse. Thanks in advance, SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

First, I did a forum search on this topic and there are over 200 pages of posts.....and call me lazy but I am not going through each post. How long does it take to hit terminal on a B.A.S.E. jump? Anyone know how to simply import a movie off of a disk onto your computer? When I try to import the files with movie maker, it tells me the files are invalid. Am I just a moron and doing something wrong? Please help. All I want to do is take a few of my vids that are on disk, put them on my computer, then possibly splice a few together, but right now I cant even get the damn things on my computer. would you call this a swoop?
woodpecker replied to woodpecker's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Just got back from a windy day jumping and had the most interesting landing I've ever experienced. Now, I'm not one of those 200 jump wonders, flying a pocket rocket and hooking, I'm 1.1 WL and at 500ft just minor input to put her down safely. Now for todays landing: Windy as hell, finally turned into my approach and realized I wasnt going to make it completely to the LZ, so I went to my out. Started coming in a and either my depth perception decided to go to shit or the brain just wasnt clicking, but I went to my first stage (in a 2 stage flare) and my right foot (toe) grabbed the ground. This put me on my knees, but since I was still only on the first half of my flare, I just slid on my knees for about 5 feet, then finished my flare. This lifted me back up onto my feet and I slid another 5 feet. Is this what swoopers experience and although it was a fuck up on my part....was it actually a swoop (kind of) ????? Do I now owe beer. v/r Billy SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on? -
Problem is I end up turning and not sliding. Its not a strong turn, but def. not a slide. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I have my belly flying dialed in (ie. turns, flips, barrel rolls, etc) except for sliding. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.... but I would like to hear from you experienced people on YOUR technique/what you do. thanks in advance, Billy SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

Congratulatoins, always a good feeling ordering that first new container. Your wingload will be closer to 0.8 (0.94), not 1.08. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I left Menwith Hell in Jan. and now down at Lakenheath. PM me if you've never been there and want to know anything about it. The area up there is beutiful and the DZ are a long drive but well worth it. If you need any help let me know. North Yorkshire for 90 days. You military? Harrogate possibly? And yes, you will have to join the BPA and it is pricy. Since you will onlyl be here for 3 months you wont have to buy a whole membership though. When I first jumped in the UK, they gave me a week membership, though still not cheap....but cheaper. Kind of funny actually. My (Icon) is the parapack and javelin is the cardura. Pics when you get it. SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

I have both parapack and cordura rigs. I would defin. put the cordura in the "more durable catagory" if from anything, just the look of it. Cordura is more rugged and dingy looking. My parpack rig always looks brand new and shiny. Though parapack shows every wrinkle, so if your a sloppy packer it wont hide it...cardura will (to a point ) Hope this helps. I can send pics of both if you need....just at work right now and no access. Billy SONIC WOODY #146 There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

What's Your Favorite Part of the Skydive?
woodpecker replied to mattyblast's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agree 100% The complete experience is my favorite part "waiting for the next load, ride to atli, exit, freefall, canopy control, landing, meeting/talking to all at the DZ, and then the beer lite comes on".
