Imovie 06 has some differences. It's cool to see your transition and affects previewed in real time , It has the ability to open multiple windows and move clips from one to the other , The down side is that all of my Gee Three effects and transitions do not work .

shipping canopy from U.S. to Canada
imdskydiver replied to KindredSpirit's topic in Gear and Rigging
UPS sucks ! If you are shipping 1 or 2 day service it will be stuck in customs for a day or two and there will be Brokerage charges and taxes . Fedex will buy pass customs because they do their own work at the border ,( 1 & 2 day ) anything else is subject to the same terms as UPS. The price is more but it pretty well evens out in the end, If you do not plan to insure your canopy i would ship it USPS . -
Sell it and buy mine . It will fit you a lot better . Come done to the DZ and try it out or give me a call and you can try it on before making any decissions.

New DZ In New Galsgow, Nova Scotia?
imdskydiver replied to riggerrob's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I've jumped there on a few occasions , The Antinov is a huge plane that will take 8 or 10 jumpers to 11000' in about 30 min. So far the DZ is for experienced jumpers only as they do not have the structure or gear to put on o first jump course , they do not have a IB to oversee operations , This is why most of the experienced instructors have not migrated to their DZ , At $40.00 a jump I want to subsidize my jumping habit with IA, C2 ,PFF or camera loads. The DZ has lots of potential especially if they were to put their concentration into Tandems and video slots , People just love the Bi-Plane and it's size. It's just something different. -
I picked this up from an OWC newsletter : If you're thinking about buying a new Powerbook, now might be a good time to wait - wait for what's next. It's a toss up if the new, improved models will be released at Apple Paris Expo this week, but all indications are that a new Powerbook featuring the new 7448 processor with speeds of up to 2.0GHz is imminent. Compared to the 7447 in current Apple laptops, the 7448 uses less power and benefits from 1MB of L2 1:1 Cache, doubling the 7447's 512K. With that L2 Cache increase, lower power consumption, and higher speed - we're talking more than just a minor speed up to say the least. And what's more... Well, you can read more in the processor upgrades section. :)

I can help you with that small problem , What kind of canopy is it ?

Nice looking rig , The weather for this weekend is not looking good , I hope you get a chance to jump it !

I had a cobalt 120 that i put 400 jumps on , I had only 1 hard opening on that one . I then put on another 200 on it after getting an H-Mod and that really made for soft openings and an even longer dive , My next Canopy was a C/C 105 which opened even better , I never once had anything close to a hard opening on it , On both canopies i've tried different P/C's switching back and forth from a 22" and then to a 28" ," No difference" I then sold it to another jumper who immediately had one hard opening after another ,I can't explain it other than he was grabbing the risers as soon as it came off his back , this changes the opening from a 2 stage to 1 stage opening , I packed both with Pro Packs , Psycho Packs , Trash packs , Every pack job produced the same results , Nice soft openings ,

Lots of luck to you and Serge on the course , I wonder who gets to do the first Tandem once you get back in Moncton ??? Try and contact Rob Mowery , He might have his for sale .

slowing down before touching down any ideas
imdskydiver replied to bendover's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
It could be something as simple as using your brakes to bring you around the corner and leaving little to finish off your flare with . -
We have seen many of our canopies (all have HMA) with well over a thousand jumps per lineset that have used soft links made from Spectra (what PD uses for Slinks) and there is no indication of any wear due to the soft link.

I received my cam and the recording showd some deforming around the edges.Quote I stopped using mine for the same reason .

I have 600 jumps on a h-mod 120 and about 60 0n a CC105 , The openings are great on both canopies but to date i can not make the CC105 swoop as far as the 120 , It is a lot faster ,it turns quicker and dives harder but i find that it is lacking in lift , Maybe i just need more time under it .

Front risers approach question.
imdskydiver replied to SuperKat's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I can only speak for myself, but when my spider senses are tingling (my eyes telling me I'm too low despite what my alti says). It's time to abort.Quote That is what i was saying and was exactly what i did . -
Front risers approach question.
imdskydiver replied to SuperKat's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
It's a good tool but you're relying on it if you NEED it to do a performance landing safely and that's not a good thing. Quote I bailed out because my eyes did not trust what my Neptune was reading , I always have an out and i used it that time . I feel that to get consistent swoops you really need to be at the same altitude and general position every time , An altimeter is generally more accurate that your eyes . The point that i was trying to make in an earlier post was that the neptune is not always an accurate or reliable tool. -
Front risers approach question.
imdskydiver replied to SuperKat's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
measure the altitude loss with an accurate alti such as a neptuneQuote I was using my neptune to set up all of my hook turns till it froze up and i had to bail out very low . The software will need some major upgrades before l i will trust it again . -
Would you advise a novice skydiver that the Stiletto is the right canopy for them as long as it is loaded light? Would you try to convince a person that has a couple of thousand skydives that a Sihlouette is a higher performance swooping canopy than a Stiletto? That, in a nutshell, is what Dan Preston is advertising. I did not say that i agreed with him just that i did not know how a lightly loaded cobalt would react , I would have to see some proof before i would agree to have a novice under one .

I know there will always be people that want to bash the Cobalt, or the company, but come on, let up a little QuoteThere are a few heavy posters here that have been bashing Atair for some time , I don't think they represent the views of most Cobalt owners , There have been a few hard opening Cobalts and i think Dan was trying to Cover up the issues On those few canopies by saying they needed to be opened in a track or by going to a smaller PC , I think that was wrong on that one , He should have just admitted that they were bad canopies and that would have been the end of it , He pissed off a few others by saying the cobalt would be a good choice for beginners under a 1.2 wing loading , I can't really say that i would agree with that but then again i have not ever loaded one that light , At that wing loading who knows , Maybe he is right . As for me , I love my H-Mod Cobalt , It opens great , Is not twitchy at all , Dives like a bitch and swoops like one too , My next Canopy will be a Competition Cobalt .

Have you flown a Comp Cobalt
imdskydiver replied to bobsled92's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
ya must have been one of the lucky ones to actually get a canopy that worked like that said it would. Wish my experience had been the same, and the experience of about 5 others I know Quote I have 300 + jumps 0n a Cobalt 120 and another 200 after it came back with the H-mod , I have had 1 hard opening in all those jumps , I do not dump in a track , I use the 28" P/C that came with my Mirage , and i am not the neatest packer , and i love my openings , I tried a 22" P/C but did not notice any difference, , I believe that Atair suggests dumping in a track because it does produce a softer openings at higher speeds but it is not a requirement . I bought a Cazer P/C and even he told me that i might want to order a smaller P/C due to the fact that his P/C are made out of Zero P material and that they produce more drag than conventional P/C's . My next canopy will be another Cobatl, I love them . -

Where did you pick up that SONY PC105 for CAN$945? The Sony store in Sackville NS
-
It looks like the PC105 is being discontinued also , i was able to pick one up for $945 Can. I looked at the 109 but it has a smaller chip and a 25mm filter , Since i already have .5 ,45 , and .42mm wide angle lens it made my it easy to pick the 105 .

How easy is the bullet cam to set up , with wires running through your Jump suit and connections to the helmet i would thing that it would be a pain in the ass to set up and connect , do you think it would be a durable set up . Do you use a Cam eye sport and where do you put the batteries ?
