BSR proposal for canopy patterns
imdskydiver replied to billvon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can see your proposal working on larger DZ's or boogies , I don't think you need the same rules for the Smaller Cesna DZ's where 4 people might be in the air at one time . Another thing is just how much space are you talking about between separate landing areas ? -
Swooping banned at SD Arizona
imdskydiver replied to Treejumps's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Given the stink they're making over this now, I think the next canadian JM will ensure their students know about that particular rule. Quote So now it's time to pick on Canadian JM's , Does it ever stop with you ! -
I did one last year , We used a plastic bag and tore it open in free fall , You don't have to worry about dropping it and it is easy to hold on to in free fall .

the blind spot is below your ass behind you about the same spot you will be after the 270 and at 60-70 mph the poor idiot that was there is now dead Quote If you set up with a long right or left hand pattern before you set up for your 270 you get to see where everyone else is in the sky , Then you make you the decision to swoop or bail depending on traffic , Problems arise when people commit themselves to a swoop on every jump regardless of traffic . They are the dangerous ones . Don't try and ban swooping or 270's , Ban the idiots !

However the HC96 is a tad wide at 73mm and a bit of a spicy meatball at $800CAD. Quote Why do you care how wide it it is if your not going to jump it ?

I'm thinking you mean mini DV, not DVD. Quote Yeah , Mini DV .
-
For me a video camera is only as good as the medium you are viewing it on , If you have a High Def TV then a HD camera would be the way to go other wise stick with the Mini DVD .
-
Are you sure that you have all the skills needed to jump and use a camera at the same time ??? # 1 ASSHOLE

The biggest difference I noticed in the performance I noticed was the power in the flare...otherwise they flew pretty similar for me loaded at about 2.9:1. Quote So what kind of extra distance are you getting from the 27 over the 21. I have a Xaos 21 and love the openings but i've often thought that i would like to get a new 27 .

A friend of mine had a dream that i was going in but i hit a palm tree and then tumbled to the ground , he runs towards me but all he found was my rig , When he opened it he found me inside. Weird huh !

I have a Tony Suit and 2 Camera Suits built by Sky Hi Visual that I have used over the past 13 years or so. My vote is for the Camera Suit built by Sky Hi Visual Productions. I am going to order my 3rd Camera Suit by Sky Hi Visual Productions Quote What makes the "Camera Suit " better than the Tony suit ?

How high do you start your swoop
imdskydiver replied to airborne82nd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
1600 ft in 8 seconds averages out to be 200 ft per second or 135 mph . I hope you are not wearing a cypress ! -
Get the XTi , It's fast , It's light and cleans it's self .

Cranial Camera Mount (CCM) #74...PICS!
imdskydiver replied to JGarcia's topic in Photography and Video
What do you think of the camera mounts ! I have a sony HC90 that i would like to top mount on a BatRak, I like the design but the $350.00 sticker price is a little high compared to other boxes . -
Now I'm really confused, S/L or AFF??
imdskydiver replied to skyflygirl1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Most students that go through the IAD program at our DZ usually go 30 to 35 jumps before obtaining a solo certificate , They choose that option because they believe it to be cheaper , They spend $50.00 here and there and jump once or twice a weekend , They never really get current and in the long run spend far more than if they went through PFF program, There are a few students that go through the IAD program and do very well but they are very committed and will jump on any load where a jump master is available .The problem at a Cesna DZ and progression is that there are lots of students going to 3500' but very few that go on through 10, 15, 20 sec delays and unless you have at 3 students going to that altitude at one time it is just not feasible for the DZ , they would loose money , therefore most of those students sit around waiting forever . PFF makes money for the DZ , The student lays down the cash and the DZ tries to make sure that they are solo in 1 or 2 weekends . -
The matter Proconcept suits is very tight compared to the Freakin suit and it's quality is second to none , If you are comfortable flying your Freakin suit then make sure that you get extra materials in the arms and legs because your fall rate is going to be faster .

Now I'm really confused, S/L or AFF??
imdskydiver replied to skyflygirl1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
S/L works as long as everything goes according to the plan , However if a student goes into a flat spin after a 20, or 30 sec delay "they" are on their own where as if they went AFF there is someone else there to help them . -

Now I'm really confused, S/L or AFF??
imdskydiver replied to skyflygirl1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
CSPA also requires - at least 3 unassisted self spots , (5 at our DZ ) and a 4000' Hop and pop before solo status can be obtained , This applies to both PFF and Progression . javascript:%20addTag(';)') -
Precision Aerodynamics - Thanks George, Beverly and Crew
imdskydiver replied to djurbanski's topic in Gear and Rigging
Please tell George that "my" Xaos 21 98 is opening somewhat hard these days and see if a smaller Xaos 27 might be a better fit , while your at it see if you can work out the same kind of deal for me ! -
I received my suit 1 month after they shipped it . Then i had to send it back for adjustments .
