Because they don't want to hear it and would rather repeat the misinformation that they get from their "news" sources (which they will admit are "entertainers" but only if you corner them on the issue). That's why they repeat only part of the story and ignore the rest of it. Repeating often enough it makes it "the truth".

Author Steven Pressfield On Dealing With Iraq (and elsewhere - long)

It is more about that then most people know bro. In $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ we trust That's true too, but I also think it's this philosophy: "Anyone who isn't interested in owning an ipod, biggie sizing and living a globally unsustainable lifestyle must be a backassward goat herder who is standing in the way of his neighbor's desire to try out for American Idol, and needs to be "liberated". And if you're not willing to give up your land, way of life and be content eating the fish processing waste left over from the factory over fishing of their own rivers or if they show their anger over foreign exploitation of their oil, gold, or diamond resources, then they're anti-capitalist terrorists who need to be "brought to justice". No big deal, they believe in the same God but they do it the wrong way so they're going to hell anyway. -

But then where would we put the next Walmart or McDonalds? -
I seem to recall that the Republican lead congress issued over 1000 subpoenas to the Clinton administration.....as opposed to what......zero for the Bush administration? I'd compare that to night and day but night and day average out for the most part over the course of a year.

What double standard? That investigation *was* completed. Don't you remember? You paid for it. It was without a doubt, the most expensive Penthouse Forum letter ever written

About 25,000 earmarks, took a hard line against France through a non-binding resolution about a street name, and Dr. Frist youtubed a medical misdiagnosis or two. Oh, and they used up all the ink for their Congressional rubber stamp. All that and they only showed up three days a week. What efficiency!
-
Bingo! Yea, I loved the idea of letting his advisors have a tea party with a few Congressmen but nothing more. I'd say that he's sounding a bit desperate by taking such a hard line on this. Must be hitting a nerve. I can't say I'm surprised though. This White House has been used to cruising along with absolutely no accountability. I hope Congress doesn't cave on this one (even though I can't imagine why they would). I say keep the thumb on this wounded lame duck. Who knows, maybe it will improve foreign relations.

You're right, possibly three attorneys over 27 years. Then what, seven...eight last year? Like everything else, these folks take political shenanigans to a whole new level. Sameoldshit^10.

I think you can thank Ridley Scott, and Apple

Good news. It's nice to see a Congress which was recently so eager to cede their authority to the executive finally decide to grab some of it back.

I think that many scientists are becoming testy on this issue, and others, because of the way their information is treated. You're right, scientist are supposed to keep an open mind, and generally, they do otherwise they're lousy scientists. That's part of the scientific process. Where they get pissed off is when their work is run through the political wringer and then disseminated through a rather lame media. The best example that I can think of at the moment is when Bush's political appointee to the EPA, a man with no scientific background, took it upon himself to edit out the EPA scientists' conclusions with regard to global warming and insert his own comments along with those of a study that was financed by the petroleum industry. That sort of abuse of scientific information is really quite annoying. As an aside, it's rather disheartening when you realize that the people who are supposedly protecting you, like the EPA leadership and the state health department (can't speak for all) are political/industry goons first and dedicated to their profession second.

BBC reports that Pessimism 'growing among Iraqis'

Maybe because it doesn't have the logistical support for more than a 20,000 troop surge right now due to 4 years of a poorly planned and executed nation building exercise? -

I think I know what you're trying to say but........what are you trying to say? What am I trying to say? Who's on first? -
The only thing missing was "nuke gay whales for Christ"!

Admittedly I'm thinking ahead on this one. No plans for any immediate large wing purchases until a get quite a few more jumps in. I've got some small zip off wings that give me something to play with now, while I'm working on my exits and positioning with small groups.

This is true. Best to get something over your head quickly, but I think the RSL idea is a good one simply because it seems like the quickest way to release that entanglement point. I've got some other concerns but I don't want to hijack the thread.
-
Don't reach under the leg attachment point to get to your BOC. That's bad. I'm only mentioning it because the accident that resulted from that action is the reason that I'm planning on getting RSL releases on mine, unless someone here has a good argument against that idea.

The XTI has an ultrasonic cleaner that's supposed to vibrate the dust off the sensor at both start up and shut down. It's possible that yours is shut off or not working or that it's just some rather tenacious dust. You should have some software included with your camera that can map and digitally remove the stuff that the cleaner won't shake off. I have the software but haven't tried it yet.
-
Yea, but it's no fun without torches.

Right, I didn't think about that until after I sent the reply. Which makes me wonder, if both are nonsense, then do they have any value beyond the fantasy? Which brings us to the larger philosophical question, why do people embrace a perception that they know is false?
-
No, that's one of the two official mantras. Both are nonsense. The first half was a mantra embraced by one side while the second half was one that was imposed on the other side. From that perspective I consider it a single viewpoint. But you're right, they are both nonsensical.
-
That's the official mantra. But what the realistic description? (or are you still believing the myth?)

Your decision not to read a link can't really be considered as me ignoring something. Here, here's some more ignoring of the issue. http://www.buzzflash.com/archives/07/US_attrny_rprt.pdf
