  3. Wait a minute! Where do the turtles fit in? If the Earth is balanced on turtles, where did they come from? Don Most of us look at things a lot like this . . .
  4. Right. Because he cited to evidence. What a subjective prick! Again, you don't challenge what he put out there. Just him. Got any substance? That guy actually gave loads of it. How about some counterpoints other than being pissed that the guy put his opinion in an opinion piece? Seriously - if you have any challenge put it out there. Here you go - something equally valid and evidence based: http://www.climatecentral.org/news/87-cities-4-scenarios-1-really-hot-future-for-u.s-17866 I wouldn't necessarily take that as any more valid than the heartland piece. I tend not to devote too much time to an author like James Taylor whose opinion has already been bought and paid for. I'm a scientist (Biology) by training and I tend to go with the scientific consensus. Even the Creationism groups can create pseudoscientific nonsense that sounds credible unless you understand the science behind it. I'll be the first to say I'm no climate scientist - but I tend to listen to those that are, and the consensus there is overwhelming, despite what those on the right and in the energy industry would have you believe. 5. If the person offering the opinion was objective in the slightest, then thats fine. However when it's the heartland institute who have a stated interest in being "deniers" then its analogous to someone saying: "The earth is still flat from where I am, looking at the data and looking out of the window" - Dr Ima Nidiot, The Flat Earth Society. 6. Is it possible you don't see the evidence? (Perhaps I am wrong in assuming that you do not believe in the existence of some superior being. ) This guy did. "My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind." Albert Einstein Einstein was an agnostic and thought that belief in a god such as in Christianity was a human weakness. "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. These subtilised interpretations are highly manifold according to their nature and have almost nothing to do with the original text." and "I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." 7. By a senior fellow of the heartland institute. Nice try though, at least you are now admitting that global warming exists - thats progress at least. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  9. ......:::...................... ...... Yes, life without parole keeps perverts out of other peoples' pants but it costs something between $30,000 and $50,000 per year. After how many years confinement does execution cost less to the tax payer? I was in interested in this. The answer is Lots. It varies from state to state but most studies show the death penalty always costs more (with any reasonable lifespan of the prisoner. If they live to be 300 the answer may be different). The trials are much more expensive, the cost of keeping someone on death row is much more expensive than a lifer and so on. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  12. I'm guessing you understand the irony about complaining how your tax dollars are spent when you spent possibly significant portions of your adult life not paying any, and are now receiving benefits? Never try to eat more than you can lift

  17. Actually that's a fair point, of the 3, he's the least controversial, and has done the least. His handling of the Benghazi hearing was grandstanding at its worst, but that's no worse than any other politician on either side of the aisle. Credible then? maybe. Presidential material? We'll see. He has the same criticism many on the right level at Obama in that he has no business experience, however I expect those same people will be curiously quiet in this case. He will also alienate a large proportion of the female vote with his "Pro Life +" beliefs. So - I concede your point in that he MAY be a credible candidate. Time will tell. [sarcasm]Have we seen his birth certificate? [/sarcasm] Never try to eat more than you can lift
  18. I'd say after today Gov Rick Perry has made a big jump to the lead. Oh I hope so - the comedy would be outstanding. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  20. I'd disagree. All of those have some serious negative marks against them. But like you say, lets see who gets through primaries. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  21. True, although its always entertaining when they try this in town and you catch them up at the next red. I'm sure the statute of limitations has expired so I'll just say it; that's why god invented bicycle pumps. Yup Never try to eat more than you can lift
  22. OK - so who is? As of yet, the GOP haven't put up anyone even half way credible who would appeal to all americans, not just the male, white, conservative christian ones. (I'm making an assumption that, rightly or wrongly, any other parties outside the big two aren't likely to get a look in). I'm not a fan of Clinton particularly, but as of yet I haven't seen anyone who I think is any better. And by "better direction" at least be honest and say "a direction more closely aligned with my political opinions". Never try to eat more than you can lift
  23. For me, Skydiving was FANTASTIC as a single guy. Now I have a 6 month old boy, and time with him (and my wife) is waaaay more valuable to me than hanging out at the DZ. That said, if he wants to get in the tunnel and start jumping when he's old enough, I'll likely jump back in with both feet. Never try to eat more than you can lift
