I'd be willing to bet he understands. Why don't you explain it to us? Never try to eat more than you can lift

Agree. I finally managed to watch the whole thing (amongst work appointments). Some of the vintage racers were beautiful. Never try to eat more than you can lift

The start was underwhelming (only so excited I can get about a renault laguna!) But it got a lot better! The drift car at 15:00 looked like fun Never try to eat more than you can lift

Picture I took of a working sheepdog last December in Patagonia (Argentina). No predators there except humans. They used to show herding competitions on the BBC. Always enjoyed watching that as a kid. "One Man and his Dog". Great window into british country life. Never try to eat more than you can lift

Thats true, as usual, on both sides. There is an awful lot of utter bollocks coming out of the mouths of the yes campaign. Never try to eat more than you can lift

And if you can't control your temper, you probably shouldn't be on the internet. It doesn't matter if you have served or not, you have anger issues. Never try to eat more than you can lift

No, I'm exactly right. (You can tell because they're called sheepdogs not wolfdogs. Or just watch any old episode of One Man And His Dog.) You'll need to figure out what that makes you. "Ooh she's a lovely bitch" Never try to eat more than you can lift

then why do farmers still use sheepdogs even in places where there aren't any predators? NZ comes to mind. Wendy P. Hey!!! We have predators! We have the..... um..... Nope, you are right. All the predators went off to scare Australians. Never try to eat more than you can lift

Its a propaganda piece. Some of it's true but take the whole thing with a pinch of salt. FWIW, I think they should vote yes anyway. Maybe then they'll stop complaining all the time. Never try to eat more than you can lift

You know what - you are right. The police are blameless, and its all a massive conspiracy against them. Good luck with that. Never try to eat more than you can lift

You obviously don't think the militarization of the police is a problem and you are entitled to your opinion. However, the general public disagrees with you. You are losing the hearts and minds of those you are supposed to protect and that IS a problem. Continuing to say "it's not a problem, you are all mistaken" is just putting your head in the sand. If the only people saying that its not a problem is the cops, then you are wrong. Never try to eat more than you can lift

How was Bush better than Obama / How is Obama better than Bush
Stumpy replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
People always say this but I think its a misreading of the system. I'd articulate it as the best way forward in a bad situation. The right was always going to oppose any change at all, laughably saying there was no issue with the existing system. I think history will look very kindly on Obama, as the president who actually did something about a fucked up situation rather than simply going "I'm alright Jack" and sticking his head in the sand. Yes - ACA is not perfect - it was never going to be with the obstacles it had, but it moves the goalposts in the right direction. Hopefully the next administrations, be they Republican, Democrat, or anything else, will continue to build on and improve it. Never try to eat more than you can lift -
How was Bush better than Obama / How is Obama better than Bush
Stumpy replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
Obama comes across infinitely better to the overseas observer in general, and especially with foreign policy in mind. Bush seemed to personify the "'MURICA" meme, and by going into Iraq under false pretences caused many round the world a lot of pain that won't be forgiven quickly. Video reportedly shows beheading of reporter Steven Sotloff by ISIS
Stumpy replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
Who is going to find and identify these "high ranking leaders" and what infrastructure are you talking about? As I understand it (and I may well be wrong!) these guys aren't a conventional army with conventional infrastructure. It would be great if there was a quick and easy solution but there are a few history lessons that suggest that ain't gonna happen. Never try to eat more than you can lift -

And do what? I'm genuinely curious. Short of "peacekeeping", what can we actually do here? From my limited reading of this, there is no real figurehead to depose/kill, the organisation is unapologetically terrorist and organised as such. By sending in a large ground force you just set yourself up for a decades long conflict not really going anywhere and costing a lot of lives and in the end, probably converting more people to the opposition cause against the big bad foreign invader. I haven't done much research here but this one seems particularly unwinnable. Never try to eat more than you can lift -
yeah I know - but they do exist, and they arent always justified. ETA - found figures of 900 ish nationwide. Never try to eat more than you can lift

Oh, and FWIW, I really rate what the police do. Its a tough job and it always annoys me when some posters here get all self righteous about thanking troops, and in the same breath attack any policemen who are doing a job that can be very dangerous, pretty much thankless and difficult. Some of the best people I ever met have been policemen (and some other people here will be well aware of one of the people I am referring to). That said - there are a number of "bad eggs" who bring the whole profession into disrepute, and with something this important, any tool to increase the accountability has to be good. And where there has been wrongdoing, those officers need to be punished. That said, the flipside is there needs to be a recognition that a snap decision made in the heat of a bad situation is very hard, and that officers who made honest choices shouldn't necessarily be punished for them - on a case by case basis. True. And if you had shot her, quite rightly you would have been held to account for it, which is where the inability to censor it is important. I don't disagree with most of the rest of your post, apart from to say that the technology is pretty much already there - one less armored car buys a lot of cameras and storage. The delay will be in the procurement and deployment process. Never try to eat more than you can lift
