  1. Not much of a story. The only people dumb enough to believe that sort of crap are voting GOP already - it'll provide some nice confirmation bias for them. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  2. What's going to happen in 2016? Rio Olympics? Never try to eat more than you can lift
  3. Also true. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  4. I want to make a joke about the idiocy of end times predictions but then I'd feel bad if it turned out you were dying or something. SC has a history of extreme right wing posters predicting the end of the world and being wrong. Much the same will happen here I suspect. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  7. Somebody call the whaaaambulance. You'd have had a go whatever he did. Obama sends VP to funeral - "Why couldn't he come himself - what a lack of respect!" Obama comes to funeral - "Why did he turn up at the funeral - to score political points? - what a lack of respect!" And yes - all sides do this. Its a non-story. 9. Like I said, it's late and I'm tired. Christ/Muhammed/God/Allah/Same/same My point still stands. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  10. OK now I am certain you are trolling. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  11. Hmmm - because Christians clearly don't smoke pot, drink or eat spicy food? Not sure why you have brought religion into this one. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  12. The debate to prove or disprove God is futile. However, Christ can be experienced if you have the courage to surrender and ask Him to come into your life. Once you experience Him and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit the understanding of God becomes self evident. Change "Christ" for "Allah" and Muslims will say EXACTLY the same thing, and be just as correct. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  13. Again, I think you have it backwards. Evolutionary biologists aren't "out to get" religious people, they are just explaining the facts. Its the creationists that go out to discredit evolution, for example by insisting that creationism is taught in science class as an alternative theory - these two are not the same thing. Not often you see evolutionary biologists insiting evolution is taught in sunday school. It's evolution that religions people see as a threat to religion (specifically the bible), not the other way round. The bible, and creationists are no threat to the theory of evolution. Why should they? who cares? what benefit does the knowledge of evolution serve other than to the biologists who can take advantage of that knowledge? If that knowledge would do nothing for them, why would they accept it when it's forced down their throat by atheists falsely using it to dismiss God? Again - they are generally trying to disprove evolution and failing dismally. Here's an example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2z-OLG0KyR4. If instead they reconciled it as I said, a lot of these arguments would go away overnight, and people wouldn't have to start museums with people riding dinosaurs. As I said, from the other side I equally don't condone the views and behaviour of people like Richard Dawkins for example - as an evolutionary biologist he is spectacularly good - read the blind watchmaker and the selfish gene if you want to understand WHY most of the creationist arguments are so completely wrong, but as an atheist I think he should just shut up, it's unnecessary. The idea of the tooth fairy "could" be true - but I bet you don't believe in it. Religion is much the same for atheists. Why "should" they be agnostic? Sure - there "could" be a deity, but in the atheist mind the chance is so vanishingly small that it's not even worth a mention. To give you my viewpoint, -I have simply never seen a good argument or any evidence as to why there needs to be a god. -Every major religion is as equally convinced as every other that they are the ONLY correct ones, they all contradict themselves and each other in myriad ways. I suspect that if there is a god, there isn't a single religion in the world that has it right yet. -Religion came about to explain things that seemed like magic, and as education and knowledge improved, religions changed to suit (which kind of implies they are a creation of the mind). -Religion is also an emotional crutch for people to answer those existential questions why me, whats next etc. "No reason", and "nothing" are perfectly valid answers but many people are too scared to accept that. -Science increasingly blows the arguments against it into the weeds. (and yes - I am back on the evolution topic here) There are probably other reasons but it's late and I'm tired. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  15. You have that backwards. You can't disprove god - but you can't prove him/her/it either. And which god are we talking about here? The evidence for all of them is identical. Evolution is a process, and as close as is possible, a fact. Generally its the religious (pick your deity here) community coming up with reasons why they say it can't happen because an old book said so. I've said it before, and I will say it again, I have never understood why the religious communities can't reconcile evolution with "it's god's mechanism for creating the world". Of course - that doesn't appease the young earth creationists, but fortunately they seem to be pretty much restricted to governing the Kansas education system these days. I agree - militant atheism is almost as bad as evangelical religion - two sides of the same coin. That would be just as closed minded as saying that if people are atheists, it's only because they have had a bad experience with religion, don't you think? Never try to eat more than you can lift
  16. Not debating that we don't know the answer to that. I'll tell you one thing though - "the magic sky wizard did it" is not a terribly likely answer. What I am hoping you are trolling about is your misunderstanding of what a theory is. And if you aren't, I suggest some remedial science lessons are a good idea. Just because evolution is a theory, doesn't make it any less real. Here's a hint - gravity is a theory as well. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  17. Evolution is not a law. It is a theory. A study of the Scripture in both the Hebrew and the Christian writings lead to the understanding that God had a pre-defined goal. Well, evolution of man (how we got from single celled organisms in the primordial ooze to man and all the other species on earth) is a theory. It can not move beyond that because the steps in the process cannot be tested repeatedly to prove it scientifically. Exactly, nor do they know what started it all...so any intrusion into peoples faith by citing evolution will be treated with contempt, and rightly so. You have to be trolling. I really hope so for your sake. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  18. Again, not even close, there are a huge number of equally valid religions - what if Islam has it right? Never try to eat more than you can lift
  19. It's statements like this that reveal the lack of scientific understanding that makes the creationist arguments so easy to refute. At least some parts of christianity are waking up to the fact that Evolution and christianity can coexist. Never try to eat more than you can lift
  20. And you would be wrong. Some people simply do not require the emotional crutch that religion provides. Never try to eat more than you can lift

  23. airdvr's slightly strange anti-capitalist ravings aside, I'm very much in two minds about this. I think agreeing not to POACH is fine - but if an employee of their own volition gets up and approaches another company, then that should be up to them. If the intent was to drive (or at least keep) wages down then yep, thats not exactly fair. As an aside, I know a lot of people at Mountain View, and the vast majority wouldn't ever dream of going to Microsoft or Apple under any circumstances - they would pretty universally aim for start up world.
