  1. The weather was kind to us in the end and despite a bad forecast we managed 6 loads on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. All the first timers went on to take part in some small flocks too
  2. A weak throw could have been a factor too, true. But it is hard to throw the PC far when the bridle is still folded inside the pouch. BASEstore.it
  3. Just to clarify this is Atair USA (Dan Preston) and NOT Atair Canopies from Slovenia (who make Troll,Radical, Trango, Dragon, OSP canopies etc). Long story but they are 2 different companies.. BASEstore.it
  4. Do a search for it and you'll find a thread here about those jumps. Anything is possible - as long as it is a stunt BASEstore.it
  5. Video of PC in tow. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6825029709895513757&hl=en Looks like the folded bridle stayed in the pouch, the size of the burble no doubt increased due to the barrel roll also.. BASEstore.it
  6. hmmm I assumed the footage from Loic and you guys had been acquired in the correct manner!? BASEstore.it
  7. 60 minutes did a segment on wingsuit flying recently "Up, up and away". Sensationalist but some nice footage to enjoy over a coffee break: http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-au&brand=ninemsn&tab=m163&mediaid=126114&from=39&vid=C54412B6-BE66-4157-9437-A56274B67E99&playlist=videoByTag:mk:en-AU:vs:0:tag:aunews_au60minutes:ns:MSNVideo_Top_Cat:ps:10:sd:-1:ind:1:ff:8A BASEstore.it
  8. We will be at Graz DZ this weekend doing some first flight courses and a bit of flocking. Call in if you are nearby
  9. I thought it could only go upwards at 8mph? Jeff must have been practicing
  10. Design is not finished yet but early results are promising.. (photos by Mirko Schmidt) BASEstore.it
  11. The way forward: wingsuit competitions as part of the annual national events Email from Graeme Windsor, IPC President: BASEstore.it
  12. Large suits like the Stealth, SM1 and Tengu are becoming popular for skydiving, so it is only a matter of time before people try them for BASE. I have done about 50 jumps on the Stealth and my conclusion - I would advise caution when using large wingsuits BASE jumping. Why: - reaching the PC is more difficult (4 secs to find the PC on first jump) - the burble behind the suit is much larger and increases the risk of PC in tow (PC collapsed on my back on one jump) - the suit is slower to turn and requires larger control inputs, not the most suitable thing for proximity. - the larger suits allow longer freefall times but around the same total distance, the end result for me was a less intense "feeling of flight". - Not all the large suits have good arm release / cut away system Experienced wingsuit BASE jumpers may be able to jump these larger suits safely but I would advise "exit high and pull high". 13. I think he is celebrating after his first wingsuit BASE jump
  14. Tony, try and get a copy of last months Paramag with the article on Patrick. There is a short section written about the current state of the wingsuit discipline written by Eric Fradet. It makes good reading. Fall rates were so fast in some of the rounds that even camera wings would have been overkill. That needs to change else we are just reinventing FS. BASEstore.it
  15. My wardrobe currently contains: Acro 1, Acro 2, Phantom 1, Phantom 2, Vampire 1x, Vampire V2x, S4 prototype, Prodigy 2 and a Stealth

  17. The rules of the competition did not include any stipulations about fall rate or glide ratio - so some teams took the opportunity to use a higher fall rate to get more docks. This was the first competition of its kind and it must be viewed as a test. The format proved successful but the organizers also learned where the weak points are.. Edit to add: The higher fall rates in rounds 4 & 5 were also a result of peoples limited back flying experience. Me and K found it very hard to fly efficiently and take docks. K had never back flew before the comp and my back flying was not accurate enough.. We were not proud of our "flying" in the latter rounds. BASEstore.it
  18. Just for the record, Phoenix Fly has a US distributor - Morpheus Technologies www.baserigs.com located near Z-Hills in FL. BASEstore.it
  19. The event wrapped up today with warm blue skies and a Skyvan . There were only a few jumpers left so we made some fun high speed exits and skill dives
  20. The competition was great fun and went down to the final round
  21. Following on from the Top Gear stunt 2 years ago the Red Devils have decided to use wingsuits in their 'high' demo shows
